  • We are on one of my favorite subjects... I am the typical hillbilly. I love to drink beer. It is one of the few things that can actually calm me a bit. I have traveled to many countries and sampling the local beers is on top of my list! Serbia has many great beers. I want to show all of the beers that you can buy in the shops. I sampled Pils Plus, Niksicko, Zajercarsko and Jelen.

    i know that they aren't serbian beers but my mom just brought home two kinds of beers from the former yugoslavia: karlovacko & nisicko from a local european store and i found both to be pretty good but karlovacko is VERY GOOD! being romanian, i really wanted her to buy URSUS because i like to support the romanian economy whenever i can and it's very good... YOU'RE AN ILLINOIS GUY!! CHICAGO IN DA HOUSE!!!

    Man, I love your videos, it is pretty interesting to see how people from other countries see us. By the way, you were wrong about Zajecarsko on a few things. First, Zajeacar is in eastern Serbia, and second and most important. The zajecarsko beer which you buy in plastic bottles or cans in actually produced in Novi Sad, and is of a lesser quality. You can buy the real Zajecarsko pivo (produced in Zajecarska Pivara) in glass bottles of 0.5 litres, and trust me, it is miles ahead.

    Charles, you should try Valjevsko pivo. It is probably one of the best Serbian beers. It is brewed in Valjevo in Western Serbia.

"In America, there are our people who for more than five years have not learned English, our language is five times harder than the English and maybe when his crew would not be talking to him in English, maybe he could learn more... respect man, we love you, thank you for be so nice to us, our people and our country...

    In Serbia people usualy don't buy beer in cans, but in glass bottles and its much cheaper, almost half the price, but you have to have empty bottles. And usualy its a 20bottle pack of 0.5liter bottles and its called: Gajba piva.
    One 0.5 in a bottle costs 50-60din

    now, when you come to Niš, an "old" new beer will be waiting... Niško... used to be a while ago, stopped producing it, now it's back, maybe the best serbian beer :)

    oh wow... after watching your video for a few minutes more, i saw you were drinking one of the same beers that i was drinking. the one from montenegro, niksicko. my mom bought it from cardinal wines & spirits on western avenue in chicago from $1.69 per bottle. of course, we have the cook county liquor tax here too... so, beer is by no means cheaper here in chicago than what you describe over there... maybe, downstate it is but not in cook county. in romania, however, it's ridiculous... there's a reason why yahoo news has ranked romania as one of the top 5 drunkest countries in the world for the last few years: romania is stressful to live in, booze is very cheap and the quality of the booze is pretty high... that's a great recipe for a drunk country! you should visit someday! for the record, my maternal grandfather's name was STEFAN MEJDINA and i'm from BANAT. so, yeah... i'm partly a serb, too! i swear: you give AMERICANS a lot of hope because almost every american i meet here in chicago has something NEGATIVE to say about serbs! i'm glad it's an illinoisan like me who's the exception-to-the-rule!

  • @Alkosept
    @Alkosept 10 років тому

    Yeah, I've noticed (after seeing only 3 of your videos) that you tend to shorten your vowels a bit. I had a teacher from Wisconsin, she did the same thing with 'roof'. :) People from Southern Serbia do it too. They use absolutely no long accents (as influenced by the Bulgarian language), while people from Vojvodina do exactly the opposite by stretching their vowels too much -- In Niš they'd pronounce 'pivo', in Belgrade 'piivo', and in Novi Sad 'piiiivo'.

    It doesn't count that you were in Serbia, if you haven't tried Valjevsko Pivo (from city of Valjevo, western Serbia)... Valjevsko and Zajecarsko are the best in Serbia, Niksicko is from Montenegro! Jelen and Lav are so much bigger companies (Jelen is Carlsberg Serbia), they have money for commercials, but they pour horse piss or watered beer in botles! Hope you'll try Valjevsko someday! :)

    Ako zaista voliš pivo,sledeći put kad budeš u Beogradu i imaš vremena,svrati u pivski zabavnik. Imaju veliki izbor raznih piva iz domaćih kraft pivara. Vredi probati :)

    Hahhahaha ''nek ti je laka crna zena'' :D When we say ''nek ti je laka crna ZEMLJA'' that means ''may the black ground be easy for you'' or ''nek mu je laka crna zemlja'' which means ''may the black ground be easy on him'' - it's what we say when people are dead...And your T-shirt says ''may the black woman be easy on you'' which might not be very logical to you hahaha but it's kinda funny 'cause zemlja and zena kinda rhyme and it's hahaha whatever...
    Serbian jokes are sometimes really odd and it's hard to translate for an Americans, we have a lot of ''izreke'' and ''poslovice'' which are like sayings or like small pieces of wisdom and we tend to incorporate that into our language sometimes...Like ''ko drugome jamu kopa sam u nju upadne'' - who digs a ditch for somebody else falls into it himself...Really sounds stupid in English but it's used when somebody does something to fuck someone over but ends up fucking himself over...Some sayings actually have their synonimes in English - like ''ko rano rani dve srece grabi'' which means ''who gets up early gets two happinesses'' but is translated as ''the early bird gets the worm''...

    • @AstekOst

      And yeah, our language is just hahahahha terrible xD
