- We are on one of my favorite subjects... I am the typical hillbilly. I love to drink beer. It is one of the few things that can actually calm me a bit. I have traveled to many countries and sampling the local beers is on top of my list! Serbia has many great beers. I want to show all of the beers that you can buy in the shops. I sampled Pils Plus, Niksicko, Zajercarsko and Jelen.
Check my new blog location! www.charlescather.net
"You have to drink 10 of these to understand language"(i died)
hahaha that was awesome
We love what your doing keep it up.
Love to watch and hear you struggle with our language C-man. =) hehehe
i know that they aren't serbian beers but my mom just brought home two kinds of beers from the former yugoslavia: karlovacko & nisicko from a local european store and i found both to be pretty good but karlovacko is VERY GOOD! being romanian, i really wanted her to buy URSUS because i like to support the romanian economy whenever i can and it's very good... YOU'RE AN ILLINOIS GUY!! CHICAGO IN DA HOUSE!!!
hvala vam, my friend... great state.. :)
Man, I love your videos, it is pretty interesting to see how people from other countries see us. By the way, you were wrong about Zajecarsko on a few things. First, Zajeacar is in eastern Serbia, and second and most important. The zajecarsko beer which you buy in plastic bottles or cans in actually produced in Novi Sad, and is of a lesser quality. You can buy the real Zajecarsko pivo (produced in Zajecarska Pivara) in glass bottles of 0.5 litres, and trust me, it is miles ahead.
+Lazar Djordjevic hi buddy... i made this video a couple years ago. I'm still living in Serbia and have learned a lot since this one :) THanks for your info and support
Charles, you should try Valjevsko pivo. It is probably one of the best Serbian beers. It is brewed in Valjevo in Western Serbia.
"In America, there are our people who for more than five years have not learned English, our language is five times harder than the English and maybe when his crew would not be talking to him in English, maybe he could learn more... respect man, we love you, thank you for be so nice to us, our people and our country...
i heard it is a beautiful place.. i will have to get over there..
oh!!! i know all about it.. i drank it in Kragujevac.. thanks for reminding me
2 Thumbs up for Milwaukee's Best Light! Used to be my favorite beer. I grew up in the Midwest and words like wash and roof were pronounced just like you say it. Lol
Haha its so funny how you say serbian words ... I love how you talk about serbia , keep going ! I am your serbian fan , and I am anly 13. ^_^
You're from The Land Of Lincoln...One of my favourite states in U.S... Must visit one day... Greetings ;)
Man you are real comedian :) ,regards from Ist(Serbian) Sarajevo, please come to Jahorina mountain,it s place where 1984 Winter olimpic games was held
OPA!! Great to know... thanks
that is one that i have never tried.. i will get up there soon and find one..
In Serbia people usualy don't buy beer in cans, but in glass bottles and its much cheaper, almost half the price, but you have to have empty bottles. And usualy its a 20bottle pack of 0.5liter bottles and its called: Gajba piva.
One 0.5 in a bottle costs 50-60din
Zajecar is in the East Serbia :)
niksicko beer is my NO1, and i can buy it here in croatia ;)
i was there in 2012 but not this year.. it was the same time as Nisville..
soon, mate... i am going to be in Zlatibor and Leskovac.. :)
thanks for watching, my brother
oh you poor man... zaječarsko is made in zaječar, but only the bottled one, that one is made in Novi Sad... and it is in the other west...(east), and Apatin is in the other east... you get my point :D
now, when you come to Niš, an "old" new beer will be waiting... Niško... used to be a while ago, stopped producing it, now it's back, maybe the best serbian beer :)
thank you!!! i didnt know... probably in the major cities they have everything...
how do you translate that?
hahha.. thanks, pal!!! yeah.. i need to get over there
yeah.. i haven't done that yet! thanks
Cheers ! ;)
hahahahaha love it when you speak Serbian. Keep it up!
Niksicko is popular in Serbia and Albania too...agree with you: Nisicko is the best,i mean,NO 1..
Kristjan Ljuljic you have good taste, my friend :)
Every Serbian Church Festival I have been to in the U.S. has Nikcisko. Someone must be distributing it here now.
thanks, brotha
Jagodina Beer is worth a try!
Busch makes Bud,not Budweiser,Budweiser is a protected brand only brewed in Chech Republic. And it kicks ass. You forgot Miller
and, for me, Nikshicko is the best, for now.... :)
12 ounces is 0.354882 liters so it is not cheaper in the U.S.
thanks pal... volim te, brate...
Merak will be in my next one.. ;)
As well as checking out local cuisine - I love checking out local beer - being from Atlantic Canada and all, eh...
God review, but you mixed up east and west!
Zaječaj is in eastern Serbia and Apatin in northwestern :-)
i love that too.. ;)
Have you been to beerfest?
And what about Lav, Apatinsko, BiP, Valjevsko, beer?
great... i like you already... if you come to Serbia anytime soon bring me a case of it.. ;)
ahahah. thanks a lot.. i appreciate you!
Zajecar is in the "eastest" Serbia,12 km from Bulgaria, man. Get your facts straight
thank you!!! someone told me but i didnt get it!
Haha dude I'm guessing those weren't your first that night? ;-)
Zajecarsko is from my hometown. Go visit. Toldja
Glorious jelen master race!
Try Bip beer. I don't drink Beer but they say it is slightly better then Zajecarsko. But it is hard to find, tho.
love the way you explain cyrillics lol!!! pee-vo hahahaha!! deer beer! hahaha!
nick-shit! hahahaha, laughing my ass off!
What about BIP pivo?
oh wow... after watching your video for a few minutes more, i saw you were drinking one of the same beers that i was drinking. the one from montenegro, niksicko. my mom bought it from cardinal wines & spirits on western avenue in chicago from $1.69 per bottle. of course, we have the cook county liquor tax here too... so, beer is by no means cheaper here in chicago than what you describe over there... maybe, downstate it is but not in cook county. in romania, however, it's ridiculous... there's a reason why yahoo news has ranked romania as one of the top 5 drunkest countries in the world for the last few years: romania is stressful to live in, booze is very cheap and the quality of the booze is pretty high... that's a great recipe for a drunk country! you should visit someday! for the record, my maternal grandfather's name was STEFAN MEJDINA and i'm from BANAT. so, yeah... i'm partly a serb, too! i swear: you give AMERICANS a lot of hope because almost every american i meet here in chicago has something NEGATIVE to say about serbs! i'm glad it's an illinoisan like me who's the exception-to-the-rule!
Yeah, I've noticed (after seeing only 3 of your videos) that you tend to shorten your vowels a bit. I had a teacher from Wisconsin, she did the same thing with 'roof'. :) People from Southern Serbia do it too. They use absolutely no long accents (as influenced by the Bulgarian language), while people from Vojvodina do exactly the opposite by stretching their vowels too much -- In Niš they'd pronounce 'pivo', in Belgrade 'piivo', and in Novi Sad 'piiiivo'.
Nik-shit hahahah! Too funny Charles! :D
hahahahaa... i love that word!
You should try Zajecarsko but from glass bottle. It's brewed in Zajecar, while Zajecarsko in tins and plastic 2L bottles is not.
Charles, when you going to make review of serbian weed? :))
Your my hero
zajecar is in eastern serbia
Hahahah 5:55 "you have to drink like 10 of these to understand..." also, there was a contest in fast drinking beer, 0.5 liters in just 2 seconds and one girl was winner xD
Lav ?
Charles Cather You should try "mutni Paulaner". "mutni" means dimly or fuzzy. I don't know original German name. It's made from wheat and it is the best
branot89 oh!!! yeah.. i had it at the Belgrade Beer Fest...i don't drink it a lot because it's expensive here, but I like it
Charles Cather Better 2 mutna Paulanera than 3 Nektara
Yow charles could you make a video about your favorite american beers ?
Greets :)
it is ok your accents, I understand absolutely everything you say
It is difficult, i explane you when i see you in Nish :)
It doesn't count that you were in Serbia, if you haven't tried Valjevsko Pivo (from city of Valjevo, western Serbia)... Valjevsko and Zajecarsko are the best in Serbia, Niksicko is from Montenegro! Jelen and Lav are so much bigger companies (Jelen is Carlsberg Serbia), they have money for commercials, but they pour horse piss or watered beer in botles! Hope you'll try Valjevsko someday! :)
Charlie bring a Keg next time :D
it is good and cheap too!!
haha.. i need to!
sta bi sa Lav piva?!
oh!!! i did spell it wrong... thanks
If you realy like beer, next time you are in Belgrade and have time,go to "Pivski Zabavnik". They have a lot of domestic craft beers. It's worth it :)
Ako zaista voliš pivo, sledeći put kad budeš u Beogradu i imaš vremena, svrati u pivski zabavnik. Imaju veliki izbor raznih piva iz domaćih kraft pivara. Vredi probati :)
Pozdrav
BTW we have Niksicko pivo in the US :P
and by-the-way, 500 mililiters is exactly 16.9 ounces... like your common water bottle here in the U.S
Where is LAV ? :(
hahhhaha... thanks for your input.. ;)
Hahhahaha ''nek ti je laka crna zena'' :D When we say ''nek ti je laka crna ZEMLJA'' that means ''may the black ground be easy for you'' or ''nek mu je laka crna zemlja'' which means ''may the black ground be easy on him'' - it's what we say when people are dead...And your T-shirt says ''may the black woman be easy on you'' which might not be very logical to you hahaha but it's kinda funny 'cause zemlja and zena kinda rhyme and it's hahaha whatever...
Serbian jokes are sometimes really odd and it's hard to translate for an Americans, we have a lot of ''izreke'' and ''poslovice'' which are like sayings or like small pieces of wisdom and we tend to incorporate that into our language sometimes...Like ''ko drugome jamu kopa sam u nju upadne'' - who digs a ditch for somebody else falls into it himself...Really sounds stupid in English but it's used when somebody does something to fuck someone over but ends up fucking himself over...Some sayings actually have their synonimes in English - like ''ko rano rani dve srece grabi'' which means ''who gets up early gets two happinesses'' but is translated as ''the early bird gets the worm''...
And yeah, our language is just hahahahha terrible xD
AstekOst Serbian language is way better then English, you can say what do you think and you can describe things much much easier.
Ja sam se pokidao kad sam video majicu haha
Yeaah, Niksh-tchko beer ;)
I grew up in Joliet, IL.
haahahah... damn!! i was hoping everyone forgot..
Brooo, Zaječar is Eastern Serbia xD It is town on the border with Bulgaria xD
Jesus Christ, American that can say ć :D I saw everything.
Good video.
that is a good price... :)
12 ounces is 0.35 liters :P plus liters make more sense than ounces. 1000ml=100cl=10dl=1l
Hey c bro can next video be serbian towns? :D
Yeah and one other (irrelevant) piece of info.. it's a fairly new thing. I think it happened about 6 years ago. Before that we did 0.5l bottles and/or cans too. Honestly, as a .. enthusiastic beer drinker, beer in glass bottles taste much better than cans/plastic.
Zaječarsko in a can / glass is the best!
Nikšićko is a Montenegrin beer..
oh yeah... ;)
10:40 Hahahha Ovaj je kraljina.❤❤❤
de nada, hombre
next video, mate.. ;)
Tamno Nikscicko is the best :D
Lav and Zajecarsko is the best beer
Lav is the best man :D
opps... thanks.... i dont know why i say it that way...
Try out ,,Jagodinsko Pivo ''
Ziveli
