so awesome to see the power rangers legacy helmet 20 seasons collection box set in the background. that boxset is so amazing. I was able to purchase and own one too. I got mine. best power rangers collection ever. ❤
When I was into DVD and Blu-ray collecting about 8 years ago this was one of my most sought after things I wanted to collect I loved both shows growing up but they've released it and have zero special features so I need to hunt down these collections cuz they're way better but it's probably going to be twice as hard to find them 😟 congrats on getting them and in such great condition
@@CurlyFromTheSwirly yeah Anchor Bay had some really great releases in general for TV on DVD. I wish more companies had the love and money to preserve some of these shows with special features these days 😅
I bought these sets when they were new for 60 dollars a season. I did later get the entire series of Xena on ebay for $30, it had a,scratch on 1 disc so I replaced it, but got a good deal.
Wait I’m pretty sure my season one of Xena from Anchor bay has bonus features. Also the ones with the yellow bonus feature strip were Best Buy exclusives if I remember correctly .
Yes, it was a weird deal with Best Buy. I managed to get the bonus set when I bought them off ebay originally, but was not able to get to Best Buy. I later had to get them all with the bonus edition. I will say that I was lucky in that manner, as season 2 had the best bonuses on it.
Kevin Sorbo said Universal wanted him to 3 more years of Hercules but he said he couldn’t do it anymore, he said it was 14 hour days, 2 hours of working out & being in New Zealand away from home for 7 years. Also he wanted to do Andromeda which was closer to home.
Well that was, rude of him. He should have done 20 more years. I actually heard it was 5 years they wanted him to do. But that's moot. I don't think they wanted to do more. I think they knew Sorbo wouldn't be interested in long term plans for the show, which is understandable. I wish they had did more episodes of season 5, it had some promising directions from plot. Also maybe doing 1 or 2 Iolaus episodes to strech it out would have been cool. Ultimately what I can tell (especially from things Rob Tapert said) Universal or Studios USA didn't like the show. It's always interesting when a company that has their own TV network puts the show on another network instead of their own. (Universal being NBC.)
While the 1st season of Xena didn't have any special features, some seasons of Xena have much better features than Hercules did. Season 3 has bloopers on a regular disc. Hercules has that on a rare bonus from Best Buy. Season 4 has alternate cuts of episodes. Season 5 has directors cuts of episodes and celibates the 100th episode of Xena. Hercules had absolutely no special features for the 100th episode. 😔 Season 6 has a,directors cut of the last episode where both episodes play straight through as a movie. It then has an extra disc that has a fan convention, alternate cuts of 3 episodes, bloopers, and more. They really didn't care about the Hercules show or the fans. However I will say that Anchor Bay did hide a few features on seasons 5 & 6 as easter eggs.
I'm going to say 1st off take the discs out of the acordan case and put them into a travel case. The Anchor Bay cases are notorious for breaking, and if they do they can't be fixed. Well they probably can, but it's just not worth the effort to remove the plastic from the paper and have to find new plastic to add. Any DVD case can break. Though the new standard sets are more reliable, it's best to use a travel case, which won't break. Since AB is not in business anymore and these sets are almost irreplaceable, it's best to treat them as gently as possible.
I have the,Young Hercules too. I didn't really watch the show when it aired but wanted to see it. I had actually caught a few episodes on Starz but I digress. The set is nice, it even has a special feature. My issue is some episodes have that small TV rating box, which is annoying. I guess they lost some of the original source material. SMH Also, the episodes are not in the correct order.
@@dexstewart862 if they drop once they break. This one resist that. The only way they might not last much is if you use them a lot but this series we see then once a year if you are a die hard hard core fan if not they will last forever even if they fall to the ground. That has been my experience. Good video by the way im doing the same one during these days about xena but in vhs that i got them all brand new. Cheers.
@dexstewart862 I found the old accordion boxes to have very fragile disc holders and I won't keep my discs in them. I have the box sets packed safely away, but the discs themselves are safety in those giant size travel cases for CDs & DVDs. The same with my Xena, Angel, and Highlander DVDs. I'm not risking them. It's even worse on the later season of Hercules, cause Anchor Bay got cheap and was making them overlap 2 discs on a smaller box set. Which actually meant having to remove 1 disc to get to the next.

That's cause the company that released these sets went out of business. If shameful that Universal wouldn't just release the footage on their own.

It's sad how most companies would rather stuff sat on a shelf collecting dust than enjoyed by fans.

I remember putting the screen savers on my computer. The 1st season had a,pretty good gallery. The 2nd season was too short.

Thats cool the way they put it the other ones breaks a lot.
The old boxes are bulky, but they're definitely more durable.

Isn't the Young Hercules movie just an edit of the episodes? If there's something different in there I guess I'll need to find it.

Where did you find those? For years I've been looking for Xena's season 5 and 6, I only found 1, 2, 3 & 4 of that same collection
My local comic/electronic store got a whole set in. I bought most of them there, and kept a close eye on ebay for the rest.
