I thought the end of "I know the end" was SO cathartic!! It was like the perfect celebration of, you've spent the last 40 minutes ebbing and flowing through your emotions so here's a couple minutes of chaos to let it all out and have some fun! And the instrumentation.... beautiful!! The way it builds and builds and explodes. Yes.

The line in Garden Song “ The doctor put her hands over my liver
She told me my resentment's getting smaller ” means that she is drinking less alcohol. I work in a rehab centre and on physical examinations the Dr will feel their liver, as too much alcohol consumption can enlarge the liver. So the line denotes that she is coping better with a previous event/ situation as alcohol consumption is a method of self medicating to cope with negative emotional states or events as well as other reasons. So if her resentment is getting smaller means her liver is getting smaller ( healthier ), thus drinking less alcohol.

Man that album always makes me tear up at some point. Phoebe Pridgers plays my soul like a guitar. And then ‘I know the end’ comes along to smash the guitar.

I listen to plenty of good music in a year, but nothing in all of 2020 came even close to replicating what I felt when listening to Punisher. Literally have listened to her every single day since finding this album late last year! She’s a master of imagery. I love that her lyrics are simple enough to be relatable but they’re actually so deep and have so many different meanings! And she weaves the meanings flawlessly through the album, like it’s such a comprehensive body of work. She’s a genius

It's funny you were always like, "this is sad." Yep. That's why she's Sad Queen 2. If she got you like this, wait until you listen to Sad Queen 1, her boygenius bandmate, Julien Baker. In fact, you should. You already heard her voice in the background vocals on Graceland Too (which is actually rumoured to be about Julien, who's from Memphis and a recovering addict) and I Know The End. I would highly recommend you checking out boygenius, her band with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus.

Ahhh a reaction to Turn Out the Lights (Julien’s second album) would be so good! I would suggest Sprained Ankle but ending a reaction video on Go Home might be even harder emotionally than ending on I Know the End. (Sprained Ankle is an excellent album though, I would not complain about a reaction to it.)

The day I listened to the album I suddenly felt so sad and started crying so bad, and I had a horrible feeling on my throat. I couldn't sleep very well because of the feeling, and the next day I found out a friend of mine committed suicide, I don't know why but sometime I think this was a kind of warning but I couldn't understand it. The album always reminds me of her.

Thank you so much for this video!! You should also react to her debut album "Stranger in the Alps" please!! ❤️ it's different, but I'm sure you'll like it. Phoebe is one of my favourite artists and I honestly love these albums equally. But the debut is that kind of an album that you can listen to on repeat many times while studying, it's very calm and relaxing.
