Oh that's cool. Kind of like how Stranger in the Alps was, too. Smoke Signals (reprise) has the same melody as the first song Smoke Signals but a calmer speed. I love how Phoebe does that.
It just builds and builds until the scream part which is just a release and just ughhh, I love it. Definitely gonna be on my most listened songs for this year because I’ll just listen to it on a loop!
I thought the end of "I know the end" was SO cathartic!! It was like the perfect celebration of, you've spent the last 40 minutes ebbing and flowing through your emotions so here's a couple minutes of chaos to let it all out and have some fun! And the instrumentation.... beautiful!! The way it builds and builds and explodes. Yes.
It’s catharsis! The song builds and builds until she straight up screams for like 30 seconds and then struggles to catch her breath. It’s great, I’m obsessed 😂
The line in Garden Song “ The doctor put her hands over my liver She told me my resentment's getting smaller ” means that she is drinking less alcohol. I work in a rehab centre and on physical examinations the Dr will feel their liver, as too much alcohol consumption can enlarge the liver. So the line denotes that she is coping better with a previous event/ situation as alcohol consumption is a method of self medicating to cope with negative emotional states or events as well as other reasons. So if her resentment is getting smaller means her liver is getting smaller ( healthier ), thus drinking less alcohol.
It’s actually a direct quote from a holistic doctor that was saying some hippie stuff phoebe actually hates drinking and thinks she might be allergic to it
ICU is a breakup song about her drummer Marshall Vore. The line “I hate your mom, I hate it when she opens her mouth” is the reference to when his mom was out with Phoebe grocery shopping and they argued about the fact that his mom voted for Trump back in 2016.
Punisher (title track) is an in joke among musicians about an overzealous fan who “lingers around the merch table a little too long”. She describes the fact that she has many punishers but at the same time she’ll be a Punisher too for Elliot Smith if he was still alive. Elliot is Phoebe’s favorite artist and biggest inspiration
i’ve always interpreted Halloween as Phoebe begging the person she’s with to just pretended everything’s all right for one night because it’s Halloween and people pretend to be other people on Halloween

My favorite thing on the internet is Phoebe Bridgers reaction videos from people who have NO idea. This is no exception. This might be my favorite of any I have seen. Welcome to the skeleton crew.
"they killed a fan down by the stadium / was only visiting, they beat him to death" is a reference to the death of 25-year-old Marc Antenorcruz, a Giants fan who was shot after a game at Dodger Stadium.
Punisher was my favourite album of last year because the songs got me interested right from the beginning, but I didn’t ‘get’ them until many listens later and it completely changed my outlook on the album. I’ve never had an album CLICK like that ever it was amazing
Ooh I loved your reaction to Punisher! Phoebe was also in a band called boygenius that consisted of her, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus (each amazing solo artists as well). It would be neat to see you react to the boygenius EP if you like!

Literally have listened to her every single day since finding this album late last year! She’s a master of imagery. I love that her lyrics are simple enough to be relatable but they’re actually so deep and have so many different meanings! I couldn't sleep very well because of the feeling, and the next day I found out a friend of mine committed suicide, I don't know why but sometime I think this was a kind of warning but I couldn't understand it. The album always reminds me of her.
I’m so sorry! Hope you’re doing better now! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yesss, so glad you reacted to this! my fav album of last year and chinese satellite is my favourite song off it as well
OMG I'm so happy you're reacting to this it's one of my favorite albums of all time
i haven't even watched it yet but i'm so sorry caitlin for making you cry
Thank you so much for this video!! You should also react to her debut album "Stranger in the Alps" please!! ❤️ it's different, but I'm sure you'll like it. Phoebe is one of my favourite artists and I honestly love these albums equally. But the debut is that kind of an album that you can listen to on repeat many times while studying, it's very calm and relaxing.
THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOOOORRRRRRR
That was the album of the year (at least for me, and I'm a swiftie)
react to her project called "boygenius" is so good !!!!
my favourite song from punisher is chinese satellite, and my absolute favourite line is 'but you know i'd stand on the corner, embarrassed with a picket sign / if it meant i would see you when i die' cause...whoo that hits hard
production-wise chinese satellite reminds me of illicit affairs, maybe that's the one you were thinking about
WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS OMFG this was my favourite album from 2020!!
the beginning is of graceland too is about escaping the mental hospital, so fun!
I just love how happy she starts listening the album and ends well, like THAT...
CAITLIN I CANT EXPLAIN HOW HAPPY THIS VIDEO MAKES ME IT IS MY LITERALLY FAV UA-camR X FAV ALBUM IT IS THE BEST CROSSOVER OF ALL TIME
Yesss one of the best albums of 2020 exactlyyy! Also a suggestion: listen to I know the end and then listen to DVD menu right after. Might be easier to notice something then

for me Graceland Too reminds me of when you get over a panic attack or breakdown and you calm down but you have to leave your house so you distract yourself.
Finally, someone choosing Chinese Satellite as their favorite! - I agree
