Yeah my understanding is that while there is an RRP, with bigger companies and their contracts the brand can set minimum and maximum prices depending on the time frame. I'd be surprised if adi are cool with it.
"It's just how the world works." was exactly what I was about to say but you're right! There are ways we can fix these problems, and we should. These kind of longer videos about serious topics may not always get that many views but they definitely should. We need more people like you, and more videos like this! 🙌
Was literally just having a conversation about the fact that this might not get many views or people won't watch through it because it's not a review etc. Essentially my thought was the same as yours, I thought someone should make the video anyway. Yeah as for it's the way the world works, it is, but it doesn't have to be, we shouldn't accept things that are negative if we have some power to cause change. Or at least we should try. Thanks for watching.
One of the biggest reasons I've stopped buying LE has been simply cause when I go to get them the website crashes, or I'm just not fast enough and by then scalpers are already posting their confirmation emails saying they are ready to sell at a price that I just won't pay.
They’ve been doing this since early this year. The Kroos release was the most ridiculous lol. They not only upped the regular MSRP up by $100, they cancelled orders for the 1:1 TK remake within a min of people lucky enough to check out. The regular remake they sold out fairly quickly but then all of sudden had more in stock but for $200 more lol. They’re ridiculous and what they’re doing is wrong. They were (are?) a good company but this type of thing is wild.
Yeah totally wild and it seems like I've only scratched the surface, loads of comments like yours highlighting other times this has happened especially this year. I think the Kroos release was the one that really tipped it over the edge and really caught my attention, hence the video. Thanks for watching and sharing what you've seen.
I don't think a retailer should be in the second market game, and I don't think Adidas and Nike will appreciate this discrepancy. The best thing is to complain to them. Good video.
Totally agree I don't think they should be in the second market game either, and I'm hoping that adi and nike etc won't be impressed. Thank you for watching.
When I saw the”Bienvenidos a Miami” boots were marked as $400, I genuinely thought it was mistake/someone punched in the wrong numbers. But to see this with other boots, is just plain embarrassing & ridiculous! I also agree, it’s smart to wait on limited edition sometimes. I’ve waited awhile to a pair of Predator Absolute’s in the Eternal class colorway. Scalper originally wanted $500+ shipping. I said no thanks & held my ground. Eventually after about 2 months of them not selling, he sold them to me for $350 (retail) & FREE shipping. We HAVE to stand firm in our patience if we ever want this ridiculous scalper market to go down
I thought the same about the Miami ones until a little more digging was done and it is clearly a strategy. I also agree, it you hold off sometimes that can work out well for you. The CTR360 remake is another good example of a boot that shot up quickly early and can now be bought under retail.
Some people buy the regular colorways thinking they can make like $150+. Such as the phantom GX elite, all the main sizes sell out quick and are harder to find. Then I look around eBay and Facebook groups and I see a lot of people selling the newer colorways. The problem with everyone trying to do it is that since everyone is competing with their prices they end up only reselling them for closer to retail.
Totally agree, if there isn't that limited quantity around then the prices can't go up, too much supply. So then like you say the prices are either retail or below.
@@donmagno3641yea i had the same experience except i ended up getting the dfs instead of the lows. figured i’d rather pay the small premium on the df from the brand than the $100+ more low version on the resale market
Unisport will have dealer agreements with all the footwear brands which outline pricing structures...not sure why the brands are allowing them to do this. Unisport is obviously a key retailer in the European market but it's the brands who are allowing them to price gouge.
Agreed, kind of what I was alluding to when I mentioned about adidas. Unisport absolutely shouldn't be doing this, but adias also shouldn't be letting them.
I bought the 11pro from unisport right at launch. Once I realized they were 70€ above retail I sent them straight back. This is not acceptable business practice.
Agreed I will be honest I didn't know they were selling above retail at launch, I thought they had just bumped the price afterwards! Even worse when it's at launch as well
Super Shady of them, it’s super shady! A couple of come back videos and it’s like bootwizard never stopped - straight back to the fire calling out the nonsense. 😂
It's doubly silly for these companies to adopt sneakerhead hype tactics considering you can't wear boots casually and they have limited lifespans if used toward their intended purpose. Yeah sure you can sell out a retro release for now since it's still novel concept in this particular niche and there's 20 years of pent up demand, but there are limits to how many unused boots the average person is willing to keep around and pay inflated prices for. I honestly think it's a bubble that will deflate soon. No idea if that will be tomorrow or 5 years from now but it isn't sustainable.
Have to agree with you, the number of limited editions will cause an issue, the bubble will burst at some point. Like you say, don't know when, but it's due.
Defo not selling returned boots surely the customers who are aware enough of limited edition boots and were able to buy a pair know how valuable the boots are so they would have resold them instead of returning them
You would think so, but I would say that with the messi crazyfasts there is a chance that they're returned boots, they didn't quite have huge these are going to be valuable hype and could easily have been bought by just an average customer who doesnt follow boots at all, especially the miami ones, the kroos 11 pros, I'd agree with you, nobody who didn't know what they were and worth was buying them. Everyone was in the know.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been saying this about unisport for 2 years now. They always have a fast “restock” even when the brand hasn’t had one yet. The phantom gx release was awful

Massive Toni Kroos fan and missed out on his boots on 3 accounts. Didn’t know Unisport had stock until this video so had a look and they’re there for €400. That’s a real kick in the teeth seeing as the original €250 was already outrageous. Got a pair of mercurials direct from Nike on sale when I missed out so lose-lose for Adidas and Unisport.
Yeah bit of a nightmare with things that people missed out on. Not sure if they're still there but yesterday I posted on my Instagram that there were some Kroos boots restocked on Pro Direct. Might be worth checking out..
At best, it's kinda ridiculous that unisport sells those remakes at such a markup. Like with those 11pro remakes, sure they are selling them at "market price" but its almost already twice the amount of the original retail price.
As someone dealing with the big brands and these releases, I can add some more info to this 1. A lot of the orders for these releases were fully cancelled in my country (Canada). Great take here. Having a direct line of supply with these companies makes this even more distasteful on their part. To your point about resellers, they have to actually do the work to get those boots in the first place. But Unisport gets them directly from the supplier themselves, shameful.
Yeah they don't even have to put any work in to get them and their profit margin is even higher because they're not buying them at the 250 retail price the other scalpers are. They both suck though. 😂
