From an American who was in the stadium for the past 2 Chicago games, even half full the atmosphere was pretty great and it was a fun day out if not as insane as watching Ireland beat NZ. It was awesome to see women from clubs all over the country there to see our Eagles at the biggest venue ever afforded them. The players joined us in the stands for the men’s game. As far as the games sent to the States, our country is large so travel costs have to be justify the quality of the game on offer and not interfere with the domestic season for people to travel. None of the games were competitive and that hurt. Wales v SA didn’t do great because they scheduled it at the same time as college 7’s. Even with our best players stuck in Europe, the men would have been competitive against that Italy and it would’ve made for a better game. Ireland could’ve played another country (Argentina maybe?) or sent their A team to play the NZ Maori.
The Haka discussion was interesting, it was a shame no one remembered when the Wallabies carried out their warm up drill during the Haka, then got thumped 43-6 in 96
Really enjoyable and interesting. Get Haskell back when he isn't still angling to get back into Jones' good books and we might get more honest answers!
Mr Haskell would you be saying the same thing if it had been a SAFer tackling Farrell and England that lost? Personally I don't really care who won. I care about law consistency and the huge backward step in WR protocols. But you are right the outcome won't be changed now.
The Farrel tackle v SA ? Like he had a moment to pre meditate his tackle technique in the 88th minute ! Winning ugly ? Very dangerous and without Launchberry too.
Haskell was not a standout player in NZ - even in the Highlanders which was maybe 4th or 5th out of 5 NZ teams at the time. Probably why he didn’t get another offer to go back, despite wanting to. He stood out better in an England jersey playing 6N.
It's sounded the same as that word jammer thing you can do with headphones. Makes you sounds drunk, probably an element of that. Ludacris though to see on live tv and couldn't stop laughing.
HAsk is right, set piece and gain line is key to beating AB’s. Watch how SA has stuffed up NZ when they have won - the rush defense some 10 years ago the ABs took some time to counter. SA did this perfectly for their deserved win this year - one of my favorite encounters even though my team lost
England always happy to win any where else but Twickenham a certain penalty what a bottle job of a referee there going to need a hell of a lot of decisions on Saturday
Liking the show, but just the teeniest of (hopefully) constructive criticism, it was a shame Rob Vickerman didn't get more of a word in at times, some of his comments were particularly insightful and would've been interesting to ask him to explain/go into a bit more detail. Generally, would be nice for guests to get a bit more talking time. BUT looking forward to next weeks ep!
Haskell good value again. Keep the insights coming please. The pro/amateur barrier needs to be kept in check, SBW style. How arrogant though was the comment, "it has to be business or its going to disappear" ?!!!!! How quickly one forgets the past and ancestors efforts so you can flourish. Forget your history and its destine to repeat itself ! Saying that, I'd love, love, love to see present day teams play a game with 70's styly. Haskell, You would'nt see 60 minutes with all that mauling, rucking and muscle to carry about.................Yeah ! Then prove it big fella !? You know enough people to set it up and Nigel Owens refereed the old laws. Go on Hask, Guinness, lets see?
Lookit, Haskell is clearly towing the party(team) line. he wants into the team going forward. So it's understandable that he will say it's a legit tackle. The fact is it was a foul. plain and simple and i suspect haskell is well aware of that too., But don't piss eddie jones off is the name of the game. If haskell says its a foul the very next press conference with Jones the media would fire it out out him.. and say Haskell said it was a foul... and all sorts of shit would come down on haskell then.
We did a fair "tackle" on BOD in 2005 against the LIONS...How? Umaga and Mealamu were not punished... Which is rubbish, they should have got weeks... at the very least Farrell should miss the All Blacks game...
Timothy Rogers Disagree, it looked like a yellow card instantly and on replay - based solely on refs decisions lately. Consistency. The fact that it was a win/lose game situation is why it is important to be debated - not by us but by the referee panel who should clarify whether the decision was perfect or imperfect (going forward) . SBW would like to know for todays match
Mr. Haskell was you one of the lads who was shouting "Murray" in the England v Ireland game this year to try and psyche out Conor? Go on be honest.. and was it a preplanned team tactic or a spur of the moment thing?. From a sports psychology point of view i thought it interesting in its delivery and in how Conor handled it so well. I still think you're a class act so this irishman won't hold it against you either way. Cmon England!! Soften up them all blacks for us for next week
I am really enjoying these shows. I have a lot of respect for Haskell, ..... By the way,,,,when Jonathan Davies was 8 years old to 11years old....I was his club coach!! 😏
Thanks for the feedback! Be sure to subscribe to the show, here: playpodca.st/house-of-rugby Love the Jonathan Davies story, must be great to have watched his career!
From my biased English perspective, totally agree with Haskell. Get on with it, it wasn't all that long ago people would have been praising Farrell for that hit. So many people complain about how the game is going soft and have had a go a refs for giving penalties/cards for hits similar to that or less. Here we have a ref letting a cracking, if borderline, hit go and what do people do? Moan and complain. Dare I say largely because people will happily put those views aside for players/teams they don't like.
Except SBW hit Watson head on impact whereas Farrell was shoulder to arm. In the Farrell tackle they both end up going backwards because of the hit. SBW hit he continues through the players head.
@@pixelpotato4874 directly after shoulder makes contact the arms come round but because the collision was so big the arms wrapping round thin air. I wish i could post a picture cause then you'll see where im coming from.
@@pixelpotato4874 that's how you tackle... the shoulder is always the first part of the body to make contact in the tackle and you wrap directly afterwards
The whole story about The ABs being offended by O'Driscoll is bullshit. Tana wrote in his book that most of them did not even notice it. He was surprised when it was suggested that him and Kevy had taken O'Driscoll out because of of the grass thing. Ludicrous!

Thanks Mr. Big Nose
