Hi! So I think why the lyrics that specifically describe trans identity don’t really hit you in the way that it’s “supposed to” is because you aren’t trans yourself. This isn’t supposed to be a dig, it’s more so that, while there are very explicit statements of queerness, a lot of it is hidden in layers of metaphor and analogy that only other queer people will understand. I think non-queer people can enjoy her work, but in order to be fully enraptured in her work and relate to it you have to have that shared lived experience. (I hope this doesn’t come across like that Rick and Morty copypasta lol but it is what it is) With that said, I agree with some of your notes on Kick III. I love the songs separately, specifically when they play on shuffle in playlists of songs from other artists, but altogether the album as a body of work is a bit overwhelming with little space for pause or meditation. I still enjoy it for what it is, though.
Here's my take on these four albums: Kick II: Overall really solid experimental reggaeton and pop. I'd give that one a strong 7. Kick III: I get that one not resonating with you, but I agree with the majority in that it's the best album in this series. Killer, ferocious production, the lyrics are horny as ever, and even though the chipmunk vocals can be overbearing sometimes, rarely do they impede my enjoyment. Really strong 8/10. Kick IIII: Weakest in the series, but still interesting and creative. At least we both liked the Shirley Manson and Oliver Coates collabs LOL. I give this one a strong 6. Kick IIIII: Understated ambient music, that is probably the most abstract and least accessible of the bunch. It did get a little boring sometimes (as someone who's not really an ambient person, I'm not surprised), but it still had cool ideas across the board. Light 7. So yeah, I'm on Fantano's side with this series. Still a great review though, and I appreciate how you gave this series an honest try.
kick iii is probably one of the best electronic albums of all time but yeah
5/10 for kick iii? mannn…
Kick III blew my mind. Been listening to it all week. Kinda sad to see it wasn't your thing
nothing mind blowing is ever his thing
I'm so poisoned by hyperpop I didn't notice the chipmunk vocals like it wasn't a aspect of the project I gave any thought
remember when the only thing we knew about any of these four projects was a Sia sample
Then the Electra Rex single comes out and that's how we know what's up
that was so bad tisydludulsykutsyk

I think you still need to put the scores in the description, they all say “watch/10”
Did he really rate Ed Sheeran higher than this? C'mon, let's just forget his reviews exist. Not an ally.
No way 💀
oh my god that's like genuinely homophobic

Great review. And I agree about the chipmunk vocals, they are just plain bad.
the "chipmunk" vocals make me lose control of my nervous system. like tell me the vocals don't slap on Ripples
