I am 24 years old and I'm still working on getting my license. I am a pretty decent driver but I just can't pass the dang driving test. I get too nervous and have anxiety attacks. At this point it's not even about the driving I just pysch myself out hard. I feel like people don't talk about this because it's embarrasing so I'm so glad you posted this. I started driving again and taking lessons again recently. All my fellow non-drivers we can do this.

It’s just going to the DMV and being in public that I can’t get over. I have severe anxiety also. I hope to get it before this year is over though 🥺
babes, i don't know what it is with the dmv staff but i swear some of them GET OFF on failing people. i failed my first test, no shame, and i had a similar situation. the woman who gave me my first test struggled to get into my car. it was an old minivan and she couldn't get the seat to move back when she got in because it was old. she was giving me nasty looks the whole time and i was incredibly anxious. and i remember i was one point beyond passing and i was so embarrassed. a few weeks later, i took the test again and passed just fine--different staff too.... he was great and congratulated me when we got back!
I passed my first time but the lady made me cry for some reason? Like berated me for a few minutes for the two mistakes I made and then ended by telling me I passed. I was very confused.
I got my license last year at 25 and this comment section is making me feel so less alone! Driving anxiety is soso real and those don’t who experience it never get it! I have confidence we will all get better at it!
i reallly wish i had seen this video on my license journey lol. i'm 21 years old and just got my license 2 days ago. the anxiety feels soo crippling and the judgement for others did NOT make it any easier but my advice for those is to do it WHEN YOU ARE READY, not the pressure of others. Each time you drive it gets easier and once its done it feels like such a huge weight lifted off of your shoulders. Good luck everybody!! and be gentle with yourself :)
I’m 19 and today passed my road test after failing the first. Even though I passed I’m still nervous to drive on my own. I was super duper scared just like you. I remember when I was practicing I broke down crying and had to pull over and let my dad take over. but I conquered my fear!! I’m literally so proud of you

Crying while practicing is so real, I cried infront of my DMV instructor after taking drivers ed because the pressure is no joke. As a german this process feels crazy to me! In Germany you can only get your license with a driving enstructor, every lesson costs around 150$, most people learn to drive by stick and the whole process is crazy expensive. Even as a fast learner you have to pay a few thousand dollars for the license. If you fail your test (most germans do at their first time bc the rules are crazy) you need to wait weeks until you are allowed to take the next one… the process was a lot for a person like me with adhd and driving anxiety 😅! Here in Brazil is the same thing, but we have a theory exam before you can do the practical lessons, which has 33 questions and you have to get at least 27 correct to be able to pass it. And then the freaking practical exam where you have like two driving examiners telling you what to do because the list of errors that can fails your exam is enormous, obviously, after all the practical lessons with a driving instructor. I even had to do some lessons in a driving simulator before going to a real car lol Here is mandatory to learn how to drive manual, you don't have an option. If I was in the States I would've had my license a lot earlier, easier and way more affordable, because oh my, I spent every single penny I had with my driving license 😢 and I forgot to mention that underage driving is absolutely illegal here, you have to be 18 year old or older to be able to get your permit.
Same in the Netherlands! I got my license at 21 years old after 2-ish years of studying and driving lessons. Spent more than 2000 euros including lessons, books, exams and tests.
In Bulgarian is also the same. Like the whole thing is crazy expansive. Its like 1,000lv (around 600 usd) and you have a theory test and then you drive with a driving instructor for a month straight and then an examiner, your instructor and a person from the group youre driveing with (witness) get in the car and a sort of GPS system tells you where to go. And spoiler im a very anxious person and i didn’t pass my theory test but on well.
Sam in the Netherlands I failed 4 times because of my driving anxiety, social anxiety and fear of failure. Also knowing the amount of money it would cost me extra if I failed didn't help
29 and same!!! I've been scared to drive for years because of Hit-and-run drivers but I can't any longer!! I'm on day 2 starting out around my neighborhood with my dad. I have not gotten my permit, currently studying.
how did you guys get around beforehand? public transport? The biggest reason for me feeling like i need to get my license finally is because it's just so crippling not being able to drive myself. And public transport isn't even always an option for me tbh.
@timklafke4712 I still don't have my license. It is one of my big goals for 2025. Fortunately I've always had boyfriends or relatives who would drive me. I hate Public transportation but I've used it when I absolutely had to.
As someone in their mid twenties who is also gradually getting over their fear of driving and just generally having to cope with anxiety, this video means so much to me. The amount of judgment I receive for not having my licensee has been so disheartening

I’m 23 and I’m terrified of driving. Everyone in my family & boyfriends family is constantly telling me I need to do it, but just like you I’m not going to do it unless I want to. You’re are 110% not alone ! I’m in my 30s and still cannot over come it .i was in 3 car crashes and the aniexty and fear is damm real . People shame me over it that need drive and what will I do if my son is sick and can’t drive .total fear . It’s not always as easy as people say ! I live in Ireland in city so we have buses darts etc
The best way i got over my anxiety is the fact that with every hour you drive, you improve (even if you cant notice it) and it gets easier and less scary
I HATE when my bfs dad asks when I’m getting my license everytime I see him. I’m 21 I failed my permit test multiple times, I finally passed now I failed my drivers test. I can retake it in 2 weeks but I don’t wanna tbh driving is scary and my instructor was mean
Im 26 and just got my license. Youre not late, others around you are not early, you are in fact right on time. Take your time. Idc how many times you gotta go and take the test until you get it right, YOU GOT THIS. Alot of fears come from “what if” what if this goes wrong , what if i mess up . Something that settled me , is EVEN IF i mess up, im okay. Come back and try again . And as many times as needed.

Girl 😂. Never would I have thought that there were this many others who were scared of driving like me. I didn’t get my license until last year. I’m 24 😂. I have had driving anxiety since forever. I would literally have nightmares about it. I’ve just spent the last year getting used to driving. Building confidence and all of that haha
My parents forced me to get my license. i had a HUGE fear of driving but once i got comfortable behind the wheel i was ok. eventually the anxiety will fade. had my permit for 2 years before i was ready for my test. you got this girly ❤

Kayli the same thing happened to my sister when she got her license. I guess DMVs tend to have that one bitter lady who wants to make other people miserable like her. Hurt people hurt people, so glad there's also really nice and understanding people working at the DMV too

GOOD JOB!! I remember the day I stopped getting extreme anxiety half a year after passing my test. I never even went to training. I bought an app, studied for 2 years, one permit expired after I moved states, I got a new permit, studied my app again, passed the drivers test. All throughout that I had panic attacks at the wheel, so I forced myself to go out and drive, exposed myself to crazy traffic, and now I hardly get freaked out. I'm so proud of you! We may be 22 and doing things a little later than most, but we still did it!!!!
Congratulations!! I'm so sorry anyone ever made you feel like you should have been embarrassed about this. I wish more people would stop and consider if they're really ready to drive before doing so, for their own mental state and the safety of everyone else. I got mine at 16 because at the time I really needed it but I do remember shortly before I took my test I had the biggest wave of anxiety that everyone was going to hit me, I know now it was irritational but I remember that moment of how real it felt so I completely sympathize and understand how debilitating that fear can be. I just turned 28 and just took my exam for the second time. It was a big win for me and I passed maneuverability! I'm really excited to finish and start my journey as more self mobile adult. My next goal is to actually help my little brother 😅

I had driving anxiety as well and I didn't get my license until I was 21. I failed my drivers test 2 times before I passed. I also didn't go on the freeway until a year after getting my license so be proud of the fact that you did it while you had your permit.

Yay I'm excited for you. I'm 29 and I've only been driving for a few years. I was TERRIFIED at the thought of driving. But idk one day something came over me and I just started studying, got my permit. Started practicing driving and then got my license not too long after. Now I drive EVERYWHERE! You can do it girl! Baby steps, the fact that you even want to try is huge!

Honestly I was pretty much pressured in getting my driver's license at 17 and in the Netherlands we drive manual and dont have permits so you have to learn with an instructor next to you. I am very introverted and have social anxiety, driving anxiety and fear of failure. So I failed my driver's test 4 times and 3 of those was because I had a mental breakdown during the test and had to stop halfway or after just starting. I'm right now 22 and I still drive with someone close to me next to me and rarely drive alone somewhere.
Congratulations Kayli! I first went to driving school 9 years ago, but failed the exam because of driving anxiety and gave up. I went to the driving school again 3 years later and failed again. I was so scared to even try one more time. Literally everyone I know has a license, and I’m the only one using public transport. I’m 27 and I just got my license today on 5th try, couldn’t be happier!
I live in Switzerland and the whole process of getting the driver‘s license is very expensive. I wanted to do it at 18, I potponed it, life happend aaaand…i‘ve finally gotten it at 37 years old last October. It is NEVER too late for anything in life, please believe in yourself. The confidence gets then built over time, the freeway was an issue for me the first few months, keep practicing ❤ Please have faith in yourself, be careful and the rest will come with time. Hope this helps somebody who‘s doubting themselves right now.
I'm 26 and have not even taken the test to get my learner's permit. I took the online drug and alcohol test years ago. I started studying for the test more in depth in May of this year (2024) but just keep forgetting things so am afraid to even try, because it feels like a fact that I will fail and people will look down on me (especially me, because I've built that habit). I see that you have made it this far, which does give me hope that maybe someday I will be able to as well. I will just have to go for it and keep trying, because you kept trying and now you're doing so much better.
I had anxiety about taking my driver's test all the way up until I was 30!!!!!! Yes, 30. I knew how to drive but it was just the actual test where there's a person in the car with you that freaked me out. Turns out it was the easiest test I've ever done in my life and I built it up to be this monster in my head for so many years FOR NO REASON!😩
Congrats! I got my license in 2019 and the instructor I got was a sweet old man who talked to me about our favorite cake flavors lol. But my older brother had a mean woman too 🙄 Unfortunately it just happens to some people and the mean people will fail you

I just got my license last week at 27. I passed the second time I get you 100 percent I got a rude examiner the first time said same exact thing “automatic fail”in a mean tone. My second test I got a guy who was an angel. Congrats!

I've been driving for 10 years now. I've always had a panic related to driving, having numerous nightmares. But in CA and now that I live in NC I couldn't get away with not driving so I reluctantly learned. Nowadays I even enjoy it at times! and still feel dissociated half the time I'm driving lol. Very proud of you for the confidence to be able to have independence to go anywhere whenever!
I got my license at 18 (Im from Spain and the minimum age to drive is 18 here!), drove for 2 months then completely stopped because I got scared and I simply couldnt get the hang of driving shift. Fast foward to now, I jsut started driving this year at 28 years old! I booked 4 lessons in total with a driving instructor and it was with an automatic car. The lessons gave me so much confidence and now I drive everywhere!! (I still dont want to drive a manual but is it that important anyway!?) So for everyone reading this that's struggling I promise you'll drive when you're ready!!
I’m 21 and I failed my first test three years ago, it really left a scar on me 🤣 so I finally took my second test today and I passed 😂! I’d say it’s pure luck but also just a lot of practice! Y’all, don’t be nervous on the test, just follow their instructions and answer their questions as best as you can :) Edit: I passed 😭

I’m 31 with no license. I do have my permit and I do drive here and there but not everyday which is something I should definitely be doing but…my anxiety for driving goes from a 0 to 9 every time. Watching this video makes me know that everyone is going through this and it’s not just me.

Hi Kayli I’ve always had the fear of driving, especially in LA because of traffic, there’s always car accidents and people who don’t know how to drive properly. I managed to get my license on the 2nd try. My advice is a little goes a long way. First, I started practicing in the metro and a park learning how to turn properly and making sure I was going the speed limit, checking for any cars/pedestrians and learn how to park. After a week or so, I started learning how to drive through the streets and or do errands. After a few weeks to a month of practice, I decided to book my appointment for my behind the wheel of exam. To my non-driving people, you got this
I just got my license yesterday and I will tell you first hand that fear of driving is incredibly real. It’s scary because it’s a huge responsibility and it’s stressful but it’s okay to be scared and fearful of making a mistake (in fact it’s good!!). I’m 16 1/2 years old and I busted a move on getting my license as soon as I was eligible. Everyone is different in their pace of getting to the point of wanting their license. My brother just started driving and he’s 18. Also sounds to me like a fluke accident that the woman failed you the first time. My examiner was tough on me but not purposely rude like that.

My sister got her license at 19, and there was so much pressure for her to get it from my parents and society itself. It’s so annoying how society pressures you to get your license when you turn 16-18, why can’t we just wait until we’re ready?
The best thing my grandad taught me was to go through life at your own pace. A family friend didn’t get her license until she was well into her 50s so don’t worry too much about when you get your license just that you do eventually get your license. Idk how it is in America but in Australia it’s quite a process to get your provisional drivers license, to go for your driving test here (in Victoria, Australia) you need 120 hours of supervised driving along with 20 hours of supervised night driving. The longer you have supervised driving the better you’ll be when you’re driving independently. Drive safely and enjoy your independence.

I’m 21, turning 22 this year and still haven’t gotten my g2 (not sure if that’s what it’s called in the US too, but the g1 is the written test. Once you finish that, you get a physical ID and you can drive w a full G holder in the car. G2 is the next test where if you pass you can drive by yourself but not on the highway. Full G you can drive anywhere anytime on your own). I’m so afraid of driving, mostly bc of OTHER reckless drivers. I have so much anxiety about crashing and all that other fun stuff hahahahaha so thank you for this video. It helped me a bit

I literally have been putting off getting my license because my anxiety about all the things I could do wrong has been out of control. but I’m happy that I’m not the only one who’s scared, especially at my big age.
i just turned 21 and i still don’t have my license, i have a permit but it expires march 2024. i took lessons with a great instructor last year, and i haven’t driven since. i 100% relate to what you said in the beginning. i had anxiety when it came to driving back, but it’s been slowly going away. now i don’t feel like getting my license because i feel pressured by my family. i definitely need to change my mindset and learn for me, and not because i’m feeling forced or pressured.

I recently turned 30 and just now I have started driving lessons 😅 but being from Europe thats not very abnormal, we have good public transport or just walk or use bikes. But now I have kids in school I really need it and I am so surprised at how easy it is, shouldve started like ten years ago lol 😅
Hey Kayli, don't feel discouraged. I have a friend who had to take the driving test five times before getting their license. Failing is just a part of the learning process. You'll learn from your mistakes and do even better next time.
AHHHHHH!!! I’m so excited for you!! Don’t think about it as a fear of driving but your just learning still. You have learn more the more you drive and get more comfortable. Your doing amazing. I developed this same mindset about driving since moving overseas and having to relearn everything. It’s subsided for the most part now that I have forced myself to do it more. I'm in nearly an identical situation to you. I'm 22 now and when I turned 17 (you start learning at 17 in the uk) I just mentally wasn't in it when it came to driving because everyone was telling me I HAD to learn. I'm 23 in November and all of a sudden I really want to get my full licence because of a random epiphany that told me I WANTED TO DO IT. I was terrified of driving and the roads. All of the sudden I'm becoming a better driver because I'm more confident (so far). Hopefully I'll pass soon!
I’m 28 and also very anxious about driving. My learner’s license expired and I had to retake the knowledge test. Now I’m taking lessons again and I already booked my exam next month! Wish me luck 😊

Hi Kayla, I've been watching your videos for a little while and I have listened to you open up about your struggles with anxiety and I feel for you. You made me realize I may have struggled with anxiety myself as a little kid and not even known it because I would always ask myself why I felt like that, and growing up in a household where anxiety and depression was frowned upon was not making it any easier for little me. I am coming to the age where I will have to learn how to drive because of school transportation and stuff and I do have anxiety because I know I will be driving by myself immediately and feel like this anxiety is slowing me down. I pray that this growth we see in your will better your relationship with mental health and ease your anxieties and we all hope that we will hear less and less about anxiety struggles because it is getting better for you!
I had to take my driving test 3 times - and had to take the written test twice because of it. The first time the tester was so nervous that I ended up doing horribly (as in, he kept reaching for my emergency break for no reason). The second time I made no mistakes, but the tester decided he was going to fail me because he could. The third time I made one small mistake and I passed. Testers will make or break your driving test, it's an awful system but I'm so glad you passed!

I was suddenly terrified to drive after getting my permit at 21 then was too scared after and then had ZERO desire to even drive because I was scared for so long😂 just got my license in April of this year at the age of 30 after failing about 2 weeks before but was determined…and honestly proud I got over that fear. Here in Brazil is the same thing, but we have a theory exam before you can do the practical lessons, which has 33 questions and you have to get at least 27 correct to be able to pass it. And then the freaking practical exam where you have like two driving examiners telling you what to do because the list of errors that can fails your exam is enormous, obviously, after all the practical lessons with a driving instructor. I even had to do some lessons in a driving simulator before going to a real car lol Here is mandatory to learn how to drive manual, you don't have an option. If I was in the States I would've had my license a lot earlier, easier and way more affordable, because oh my, I spent every single penny I had with my driving license 😢 and I forgot to mention that underage driving is absolutely illegal here, you have to be 18 year old or older to be able to get your permit.
Same in the Netherlands! I got my license at 21 years old after 2-ish years of studying and driving lessons. Spent more than 2000 euros including lessons, books, exams and tests.
In Bulgarian is also the same. Like the whole thing is crazy expansive. Its like 1,000lv (around 600 usd) and you have a theory test and then you drive with a driving instructor for a month straight and then an examiner, your instructor and a person from the group youre driveing with (witness) get in the car and a sort of GPS system tells you where to go. And spoiler im a very anxious person and i didn’t pass my theory test but on well.
Sam in the Netherlands I failed 4 times because of my driving anxiety, social anxiety and fear of failure. Also knowing the amount of money it would cost me extra if I failed didn't help

how did you guys get around beforehand? public transport? The biggest reason for me feeling like i need to get my license finally is because it's just so crippling not being able to drive myself. And public transport isn't even always an option for me tbh.

People shame me over it that need drive and what will I do if my son is sick and can’t drive .total fear . It’s not always as easy as people say ! I live in Ireland in city so we have buses darts etc
The best way i got over my anxiety is the fact that with every hour you drive, you improve (even if you cant notice it) and it gets easier and less scary

Im 26 and just got my license. Youre not late, others around you are not early, you are in fact right on time. Take your time. Idc how many times you gotta go and take the test until you get it right, YOU GOT THIS. Alot of fears come from “what if” what if this goes wrong , what if i mess up . Something that settled me , is EVEN IF i mess up, im okay. Come back and try again . And as many times as needed.

My parents forced me to get my license. i had a HUGE fear of driving but once i got comfortable behind the wheel i was ok. eventually the anxiety will fade. had my permit for 2 years before i was ready for my test. you got this girly ❤

Kayli the same thing happened to my sister when she got her license. I guess DMVs tend to have that one bitter lady who wants to make other people miserable like her. Hurt people hurt people, so glad there's also really nice and understanding people working at the DMV too

GOOD JOB!! I remember the day I stopped getting extreme anxiety half a year after passing my test. I never even went to training. I bought an app, studied for 2 years, one permit expired after I moved states, I got a new permit, studied my app again, passed the drivers test. All throughout that I had panic attacks at the wheel, so I forced myself to go out and drive, exposed myself to crazy traffic, and now I hardly get freaked out. I'm so proud of you! We may be 22 and doing things a little later than most, but we still did it!!!!

I wish more people would stop and consider if they're really ready to drive before doing so, for their own mental state and the safety of everyone else. I got mine at 16 because at the time I really needed it but I do remember shortly before I took my test I had the biggest wave of anxiety that everyone was going to hit me, I know now it was irritational but I remember that moment of how real it felt so I completely sympathize and understand how debilitating that fear can be. I just turned 28 and just took my exam for the second time. It was a big win for me and I passed maneuverability! I'm really excited to finish and start my journey as more self mobile adult. My next goal is to actually help my little brother 😅

I had driving anxiety as well and I didn't get my license until I was 21. I failed my drivers test 2 times before I passed. I also didn't go on the freeway until a year after getting my license so be proud of the fact that you did it while you had your permit.

Yay I'm excited for you. I'm 29 and I've only been driving for a few years. I was TERRIFIED at the thought of driving. But idk one day something came over me and I just started studying, got my permit. Started practicing driving and then got my license not too long after. Now I drive EVERYWHERE! You can do it girl! Baby steps, the fact that you even want to try is huge!

Honestly I was pretty much pressured in getting my driver's license at 17 and in the Netherlands we drive manual and dont have permits so you have to learn with an instructor next to you. I am very introverted and have social anxiety, driving anxiety and fear of failure. So I failed my driver's test 4 times and 3 of those was because I had a mental breakdown during the test and had to stop halfway or after just starting.
I'm right now 22 and I still drive with someone close to me next to me and rarely drive alone somewhere.
I was the same, I drove a handful of times at 16 then never drove again until I was 19/20 when I got my license. So proud of you Kayli 💕

I first went to driving school 9 years ago, but failed the exam because of driving anxiety and gave up. I went to the driving school again 3 years later and failed again. I was so scared to even try one more time. Literally everyone I know has a license, and I’m the only one using public transport.
I’m 27 and I just got my license today on 5th try, couldn’t be happier!
I live in Switzerland and the whole process of getting the driver‘s license is very expensive. I wanted to do it at 18, I potponed it, life happend aaaand…i‘ve finally gotten it at 37 years old last October. It is NEVER too late for anything in life, please believe in yourself. The confidence gets then built over time, the freeway was an issue for me the first few months, keep practicing ❤ Please have faith in yourself, be careful and the rest will come with time. Hope this helps somebody who‘s doubting themselves right now.
I'm 26 and have not even taken the test to get my learner's permit. I took the online drug and alcohol test years ago. I started studying for the test more in depth in May of this year (2024) but just keep forgetting things so am afraid to even try, because it feels like a fact that I will fail and people will look down on me (especially me, because I've built that habit). I see that you have made it this far, which does give me hope that maybe someday I will be able to as well. I will just have to go for it and keep trying, because you kept trying and now you're doing so much better.

I had anxiety about taking my driver's test all the way up until I was 30!!!!!! Yes, 30. I knew how to drive but it was just the actual test where there's a person in the car with you that freaked me out. Turns out it was the easiest test I've ever done in my life and I built it up to be this monster in my head for so many years FOR NO REASON!😩

I've been driving for 10 years now. I've always had a panic related to driving, having numerous nightmares. But in CA and now that I live in NC I couldn't get away with not driving so I reluctantly learned. Nowadays I even enjoy it at times! and still feel dissociated half the time I'm driving lol. Very proud of you for the confidence to be able to have independence to go anywhere whenever!
I got my license at 18 (Im from Spain and the minimum age to drive is 18 here!), drove for 2 months then completely stopped because I got scared and I simply couldnt get the hang of driving shift. Fast foward to now, I jsut started driving this year at 28 years old! I booked 4 lessons in total with a driving instructor and it was with an automatic car. The lessons gave me so much confidence and now I drive everywhere!! (I still dont want to drive a manual but is it that important anyway!?) So for everyone reading this that's struggling I promise you'll drive when you're ready!!

I’m 21 and I failed my first test three years ago, it really left a scar on me 🤣 so I finally took my second test today and I passed 😂! I’d say it’s pure luck but also just a lot of practice! Y’all, don’t be nervous on the test, just follow their instructions and answer their questions as best as you can :)

I’m 31 with no license. I do have my permit and I do drive here and there but not everyday which is something I should definitely be doing but…my anxiety for driving goes from a 0 to 9 every time. Watching this video makes me know that everyone is going through this and it’s not just me.

Hi Kayli I’ve always had the fear of driving, especially in LA because of traffic, there’s always car accidents and people who don’t know how to drive properly. I managed to get my license on the 2nd try. My advice is a little goes a long way. First, I started practicing in the metro and a park learning how to turn properly and making sure I was going the speed limit, checking for any cars/pedestrians and learn how to park. After a week or so, I started learning how to drive through the streets and or do errands. After a few weeks to a month of practice, I decided to book my appointment for my behind the wheel of exam. I just got my license yesterday and I will tell you first hand that fear of driving is incredibly real. It’s scary because it’s a huge responsibility and it’s stressful but it’s okay to be scared and fearful of making a mistake (in fact it’s good!!). I’m 16 1/2 years old and I busted a move on getting my license as soon as I was eligible. Everyone is different in their pace of getting to the point of wanting their license. My brother just started driving and he’s 18. Also sounds to me like a fluke accident that the woman failed you the first time. My examiner was tough on me but not purposely rude like that.

My sister got her license at 19, and there was so much pressure for her to get it from my parents and society itself. It’s so annoying how society pressures you to get your license when you turn 16-18, why can’t we just wait until we’re ready?
The best thing my grandad taught me was to go through life at your own pace. A family friend didn’t get her license until she was well into her 50s so don’t worry too much about when you get your license just that you do eventually get your license. Idk how it is in America but in Australia it’s quite a process to get your provisional drivers license, to go for your driving test here (in Victoria, Australia) you need 120 hours of supervised driving along with 20 hours of supervised night driving.
The longer you have supervised driving the better you’ll be when you’re driving independently. Drive safely and enjoy your independence.

I’m 21, turning 22 this year and still haven’t gotten my g2 (not sure if that’s what it’s called in the US too, but the g1 is the written test. Once you finish that, you get a physical ID and you can drive w a full G holder in the car. G2 is the next test where if you pass you can drive by yourself but not on the highway. Full G you can drive anywhere anytime on your own). I’m so afraid of driving, mostly bc of OTHER reckless drivers. I have so much anxiety about crashing and all that other fun stuff hahahahaha so thank you for this video. It helped me a bit

i just turned 21 and i still don’t have my license, i have a permit but it expires march 2024. i took lessons with a great instructor last year, and i haven’t driven since. i 100% relate to what you said in the beginning. i had anxiety when it came to driving back, but it’s been slowly going away. now i don’t feel like getting my license because i feel pressured by my family. i definitely need to change my mindset and learn for me, and not because i’m feeling forced or pressured.

Hey Kayli, don't feel discouraged. I have a friend who had to take the driving test five times before getting their license. Failing is just a part of the learning process. You'll learn from your mistakes and do even better next time.

I developed this same mindset about driving since moving overseas and having to relearn everything. It’s subsided for the most part now that I have forced myself to do it more. I'm in nearly an identical situation to you. I'm 22 now and when I turned 17 (you start learning at 17 in the uk) I just mentally wasn't in it when it came to driving because everyone was telling me I HAD to learn. I'm 23 in November and all of a sudden I really want to get my full licence because of a random epiphany that told me I WANTED TO DO IT. I was terrified of driving and the roads. All of the sudden I'm becoming a better driver because I'm more confident (so far). Hopefully I'll pass soon!

Hi Kayla, I've been watching your videos for a little while and I have listened to you open up about your struggles with anxiety and I feel for you. You made me realize I may have struggled with anxiety myself as a little kid and not even known it because I would always ask myself why I felt like that, and growing up in a household where anxiety and depression was frowned upon was not making it any easier for little me. I am coming to the age where I will have to learn how to drive because of school transportation and stuff and I do have anxiety because I know I will be driving by myself immediately and feel like this anxiety is slowing me down. I pray that this growth we see in your will better your relationship with mental health and ease your anxieties and we all hope that we will hear less and less about anxiety struggles because it is getting better for you!
I had to take my driving test 3 times - and had to take the written test twice because of it. The first time the tester was so nervous that I ended up doing horribly (as in, he kept reaching for my emergency break for no reason). The second time I made no mistakes, but the tester decided he was going to fail me because he could. The third time I made one small mistake and I passed. Testers will make or break your driving test, it's an awful system but I'm so glad you passed!

I was suddenly terrified to drive after getting my permit at 21 then was too scared after and then had ZERO desire to even drive because I was scared for so long😂 just got my license in April of this year at the age of 30 after failing about 2 weeks before but was determined…and honestly proud I got over that fear. It’s so freeing to just be able to get up and go especially with kids.
