We've had this sitting on the shelf for some time... and of course my wife wants to play now because of your excellent narration in the beginning haha. Great playthrough, thoroughly enjoyed watching.
At 1:23:20 - the way I see it, the noise markers are not the noise you make yourself, but the unidentified noises you hear around you which can mean intruders. I think it makes more sense this way, since you're sometimes placing them where you haven't gone yet :)
You have it correct. The designer confirmed and the first rulebook states "Noises echo throughout the Nemesis decks... sometimes from the ship's machinery, but sometimes from Intruders."
Great playthrough, Colin! As usual :). That was very helpful to understand the flow of the game. I got overwhelmed by RFTM. His video was excellent, but I needed to see how the game looks like played. I think I am still going to read the rules, but I am excited to solo coop it with two characters. It looks like a very solid coop/solo! I am sure the semi-coop can even add more fun for some people.
Whoo hoo, another playthrough by Colin! Colin's single-handedly responsible for getting me waaaay back into Mageknight, and then going all-in with Sleeping Gods. Such darn good videos! Lucky I have Nemesis already, and love it...
Looking forward to this. By the way at 24:26 the emergency key would have been more useful if used for the card text as it can be used without power. You could have moved the Janitor directly to level 2 or level 3 elevator room as per the card ability.
Just picked this up and your playthrough is helping me realize some of the things I did wrong in my learning of the game. Always appreciate the work y'all do! :)
In the beginning, you gave the objectives to each character. It's important to know that all the objectives are common to all characters, so anybody can fulfill them. Even if you think 1 objective suits 1 character better, plans can change.
@@OneStopCoopShop No problem. I ended up selling Lockdown, however. I found it to be a lot more punishing than the original Nemesis, to the point where losing just wasn't a fun experience and I had no interest in playing through to the end. Also, I much prefer the spaceship theme instead of being on a land base. I can appreciate the continuation of the story (ship crash landed and now you're on land), but the spaceship is really where it's at. OG Nemesis has less rules as well, and I've been reading that it's much better for the solo and co-op experience. As an example of what put me over the edge regarding Lockdown was the extreme run of bad luck that I had in the first round of the game. I ended up finding the Nest, then the Queen spawned there during the event phase. The event card had a darkness effect (I was in darkness) that led me to getting a serious wound. Somehow, the Queen did a surprise attack on me and that was *another* serious wound. At that point, I threw in the towel and got disgusted with the game.
Thanks for the video! The answer to your question is that there simply is no game quite like Nemesis. It is an amazing game that stands alone. If you want more Nemesis then I recommend trying the expansion aliens. They are all really unique, thematic, and fun! =-)
Noise tokens should be placed upright - look at the detail on them, it shows a siren going off. This also makes it easier to see across the big board, e.g. it helps being aware of the corridor noise token.
The Xenobiologist took 3 actions on her first turn. Move to the stairwell, move to the Decon room, and then Field Experience. You should have suffered one light wound after finding decon. I hate being the nit-picker lol Great play through and explanation as always! Too bad we can’t play a game together sometime! Haha
What a lovely playthrough! You are very good at explaining, I had a really nice time watching this. And the intro scene was such a nice touch too! Keep 'em coming! P.S. One question though - at 50:55, you resolved a surprise attack - do the surprise attack rules apply during the intruder bag development phase as well?
Ohhh great! Looking forward to watching this over the next couple of days :) A game which is sometimes compared to Nemesis, and one I thought about getting before I got Lockdown, is Lifeform with the Dragons Domain solo/co-op expansion. I believe its more about being stalked by a single alien, completing objectives etc. I don't know much more though, or how available it is. Made by Hall or Nothing I think
To answer your question about what other games are really tense and thematic the whole time, I think Uprising: Curse of the Last Emperor has a lot of the same qualities. In that game, it comes from the constant pressure of two enemy factions rather than the hidden information.
That was the best video I have seen about this game (and I have seen so many…) and very well explained as well. I’ve just bought this game and this video will help a lot. If I could ask a big big favour… could you do a video explaining the rules…?! I actually think that the way you explain things is very entertaining, straight to the point and very informative. Thank you very much for your time creating the video, love it.
Colin isn’t with the channel anymore, sorry! He moved to our friend channel Meet Me at the Table. But in any case none of us do rules videos or how to plays, so not sure he would have been able to comply anyway 😅
Unless I missed it, but when the janitor revealed those silent explore tokens while still being slimed, he should've resolved danger both times. Those results would be like if you rolled them on a regular noise roll not that it made much of a difference in the end
I’ve been wanting to play Nemesis for ages but I solo 90% of the time and was worried about it being too much. You’ve swayed me! Did you have a chance to compare lockdown to OG Nemesis? PS - Bet you’re keeping an eye on the 3rd Kickstarter coming out later this year.
So glad you enjoyed this! I haven't played the original Nemesis since it came out a LONG time ago haha so I can't compare. As for the 3rd KS, Bairnt will be getting it for sure so I will be covered! :)
@@OneStopCoopShop One thing I was wondering Colin. Early in the playthrough, I think the first turn or so you could have used the janitor's ability to call the elevator instead of taking the stairs. I was wondering if this was by choice or if you simply wasn't aware of that cards ability?
Try Deep Madness. I think Mike played it and reviewed it. It’s very tense, has more combat, and usually comes down to the very end like this and Cthulhu: Death May Die.
My last game of regular Nemesis ended in literally the exact same way and with the same mission progress! Eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnntttttttssssssssss!
@@OneStopCoopShop 1:24:05 you used the tool belt and the cables (instead of the clothes it needed). Easy to have a crafting plan and overlook the symbols on the card, especially with the janitor who is used to being able to kinda make whatever he wants.
Yessssssss!!!!! This is going to be awesome!!! Best intro ever!!! Glad you enjoyed this one
Dude!! Appreciate you letting me borrow this one!!

Love the addition of the Battle System/Core Space material in the intro. Makes it so thematic!
Exciting playthrough!
Thanks so much for watching!! Had a bit of fun with that intro

OMG! I just scored this game on sale! Your play through was the final decision point to purchase this.

That is what Bairnt told me too!! Thanks so much for watching!
I like to imagine that it is Mr. Peanutbutter playing it. Awesome playthrough!
Haha!! Thanks for watching!!
Pandemic is a fun coop game as is any of the Resident evil board games. Aliens: Another glorious day in the corps is fun too

I have that with the expansions but haven't played yet - Mike

How did I miss seeing this?!?!? Awesome Colin. So fun.
Doug!!!! Bairnt let me borrow his copy it was too much fun to play!!!
@@OneStopCoopShop Very cool. Between you and Bairnt you probably have most games covered!! Wish I lived closer. Would love to game with you all.
Oh my that would be EPIC!!!!!!!!
at 1:23:58 you revealed a silence exploration token but since you been slimed do you need to do a danger and put noice tokens in surounded corridors
It has been a long while since I've seen such an engaging dungeon crawler. Many boardgames are nice to play but not to watch and this was not the case
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching and commenting!
So good.. might have to stop playing frostpunk for a big and crack open lockdown again :D
Do it!!!
