I agree with your review Eric, well done. I have 7 Lutron Shades throughout our Smart home. They are quiet, flawless, and very easy to install. Quality and tech support from Lutron is amazing. I believe I have 16 batteries per shade in ours. All 7 shades have Pico Remotes set up too. Our shades are neutral colours and expect many, many years of use with them.
Yes this was awesome! I have a Serena Shade over my sliding door. It is off white, blackout, electric and silent. It comes outward so there is no valance offered. Only the blinds are HomeKit enabled. The rep told me a year ago they are working on HomeKit for the wood blinds but there it isn’t available yet. I have a HomeKit automation to open the blind at sunrise daily and close at sunset. It has worked every day for a year now. The only day it didn’t work I had an issue with HomeKit. Even when near the shade you almost don’t hear it opening or closing. My contractor had a four by one inch board around my sliding door and he added another board above to install it higher. The shade covers the entire width of the four by two board on the sides for added privacy. I had an outlet added near the shade.
Hi Eric, Love your videos! I just installed my SmartWings blinds and they are amazing they are custom fit and made to order and the price is perfect. A lot of fabric choices. It only took 2 weeks to get them too. I highly recommend you taking a look at them. I got 2 32x46 and 1 65x64 for $850 delivered. They work with all the assistants. I am very pleased with them. I think it is worth you checking them out!
Get rechargeable batteries, save money, save the environment, even though I am not a wacko on the environment, it just seems like old batteries always end up in the trashcan. Nice shades, I started to go the automatic type route and my wife was like, this is too far, next you'll have those Jetson robots bringing you coffee, LOL. So I got wood blinds in the antique white. She's in a 70s time warp.
Lutron uses their own hub with their ClearConnect low frequency wireless. There's no Wi-Fi or IR used. The Lutron Hub connects to your network via Ethernet.
Lutron is the best! Have all my switches replaced with caseta. Wish I went with them instead of "mysmartblinds" roller shades. I still automated them with lutron pico remotes, found a way 😎 But as you said, you pay a little more and you get what you paid for. The only downside is they are all battery powered, mysmartblinds are solar charged, and few of my windows are so high that I needed a scaffolding to get to them. Other than that, Lutron is a way to go!
I love the Siri shortcut you had in the beginning of the video, but there’s literally no way to automate that on a HomePod 😩 I want the same thing to happen but at a certain time of the day or when an alarm gets turned off
I’m glad you did a review on these, they are very premium, impressive with how they move so in sync. Based on price it may be something I do in a room or so where it would benefit being able to close and open based on time of day etc.
That’s totally understandable and it might have been too expensive for me too if I didn’t have this channel to review them. I’ve heard good things about IKEAs blinds and I think we’ll see more options in this category soon.
Wayyy to expensive, who needs Lutron blinds when you can get ikea ones for way less and you don't need 800 batteries in them and they're just as quiet just don't have as many configuration options! This is a nice product at a terrible price!
Great video Eric! Love that intro! And these shades look great! 👏🏻
Thanks Shane

That's fantastic Doug! Thanks for sharing your experience with them over the years.

Wow that sounds like a great setup. I'm glad to hear that everything but the wood blinds are working so well for you in HomeKit too.
I like smart shades but I try to go on budged. I would suggest Dako or Ikea for that.
Very slick Eric. As usual, a great product review.
Such a fan of Lutron. Looks like these are just as good as their other devices.
Thanks Bradley!! I think they are just as good so far.
These look great, Eric!!! I like that they are calibrated to open and shut in sync! Great video and thorough review.
Thanks so much Brad!
Good stuff Eric. Looks like we got a similar color too.
Yes we did! They have a nice range of grays to pick from.

Great video! Lutron works only wifi or IR also? Tks

Great video Agent Welander!
Haha...thanks Ben!
Great video and marriage advice!
Haha thanks Brian!!
Why your mother in law though lol does she live with you?
These are awesome! Thanks for the review. I’ll be strongly considering these in the future.
Thanks Darrin!

I really dug this video Eric and I learned a TON. That intro threw me for a loop! I just may need to invest 1 or 12 of these!
6 grand later
Do you know if they work with Alexa?
Yes they do!
I love the Siri shortcut you had in the beginning of the video, but there’s literally no way to automate that on a HomePod 😩 I want the same thing to happen but at a certain time of the day or when an alarm gets turned off
If you enable personal requests you can ask Siri to run your shortcuts from a HomePod. That's what I'm doing in the video and most mornings.
Hold me back! I feel my wallet opening!
LOL! Thanks I guess 😄

@@dannybroddy Thanks! That sounds like a great idea.
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online?
@Marley Gus lately I have been using FlixZone. Just search on google for it :)
Whats that clear mounting plate at 9:44?
That is a Lutron Pico wall plate bracket. You can pick them up most places Lutron switches are sold. geni.us/picoplate
The price of their switches I can justify but not the shades.
I understand. These are expensive, and probably not for as big of a customer base as their switches.
Nice shades but way too expensive....... :-(
I was overwhelmed as well but I think the price it’s a little out of my league

Out of my budget! Not worth it. Plus the wood blinds are not HomeKit.

Theses are stupid expensive shades
