Eric this is quite possibly your best video ever. A combination of emotions, raw beauty, adverse weather turning your pictures into stunning takes... It was deeply moving to watch the whole movie. I ate it with a spoon... The emotions you and Kristi showed all along just reminded how I personally felt in a different area of the park a week beforehand....I was also in tears when I just passed that ridge line facing Laguna de Los Tres at the base of Fitz Roy on our first long hike with the group in Patagonia the week and a half previous. The colors, the haze, the light in your movie are so magical by Laguna Torre .... I totally understand why you were both in tears. I envied you when I watched your video!!!! Just like you show so admirably, Patagonia takes you by the guts and triggers something deep, reminding us how blessed we are to live on this Planet. Thank you so much both of you. You guys are troopers! Not everyone can do this physically and mentally, it looked really hard!
The clinking ice is perhaps the most magical sound I've ever heard in nature. It was sooo cool. The microphone didn't even do it justice. And thank you!
Wow! Another unbelievably beautiful film. Thank you for telling this story about a far away place that most of us will never see with our own eyes. Stunningly beautiful and deeply moving! Thanks for being patient, that weather window was fantastic. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers!
Eric, This is a masterpiece!Absolutely stunning clips of those mountains, the glacier, right down to the smaller pieces of ice in the lagoon; and that's just the tip of the ice berg! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I can't wait for more!
Dragon scales. I like that description! I’m going to use that when I have to cross plates of shale. I sliced the back of my hand open on one once, including a tendon.
Eric and Kristi, what an incredibly beautiful two days, I’m so happy for you to be able to experience Patagonia in such stunning glory. So looking forward to the next video(s).
Thanks for hauling around all that weight in camera equipment. My two favorite shots were the closeups of the ice in the lagoon and the reflection of the mountains in your sunglasses.
Absolutely love it. So amazing and just absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely love when you hike with your wife. Yup that must sound a little bit strange now but yes your WIFE. Love you guys. Hope to see more and all the EPIC ADVENTURES you take. Thanks guys for another great video.
That was EPIC!! It is even more beautiful than I thought it would be. I keep thinking that I would love to see Kristi paint some of that gorgeous floating ice. You two are such a cute couple hiking together. Thanks for sharing your beautiful journey with us!
When I saw that fly whipping around trying to set up in the exposed spot immediately thought "OK who's going to be the one to call it and say let's go to the more sheltered site," good thinking Kristi
I have to admit this was by far the best video you have put out since you started your own channel. Im sure pictures won’t do justice how amazing your trip was. I will be there late August but not to backpack just visit. Im more excited for this trip watching your video. ✌🏽
Great call on moving to a more secure campsite to minimize wind exposure. Staying up all night worrying about whether the tent will hold up sucks! Even worse if it doesn’t! Thoroughly enjoying the video!
I enjoyed watching this so much. Absolutely stunning scenery. And the two of you together are simply joyful. Thanks for sharing this content. Also, perfect length. So smart breaking this into manageable segments for watchability. Much better than one long feature film.
absolutely beautiful sir - thanks for sharing. Your partner's "sketch" level seems about in line with mine and her camera work is just amazing. I've had some pretty amazing experiences on Rainier up her in Washington but that was just f'n awesome. Again, thank you.
❤ Favorite part was the silhouette leap and embrace!!! Thanks for sharing your trip as we thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Such beauty shows that God is the best artist 🎨 😊
It is sooo hard sometimes to try to come to terms with the fact that all these views that you and Kristi saw and captured on-screen are actually REAL and not some CGI thing. I live in Eastern Oregon with incredibly beautiful craggy mountain scenery; it is NOTHING compared the absolutely jaw-dropping beauty of this Patagonian landscape that you invited us into...
Thanks for another great video. I understand the feelings you had. I felt the same way watching the sunrise from the N Kaibab trail hiking down in the the Grand Canyon. I know that's your back yard and have seen it many times, but I had wanted to be there for 45 years and finally made it happen last year. This year Half Dome!
This backpacking trip with you was a dream. I feel so lucky to have witnessed what we did. Even if these videos were just for me to relive I would rewatch a million times.
So glad you guys listened to Kristi's voice of reason for that first campsite. I kept saying to myself as you two were weighing comfort verses view, "you are chancing ruining your tent".
Not gonna lie. I feel cheated on, and I'm only 13 minutes in! 😆 Brenda, Karim, Andy, and I did about half of that hike to Laguna Cerro Torre on the off day. You guys really nailed the weather window. Well done!
@ 😂 thank you, I’ve been watching you for some time now and I’m currently laying in my tent on a snowy mountain in Scotland. I felt that was the only appropriate response while I have cell signal 😂
I've been on an Eric and Miranda marathon the last few days...😂 Tbf, I've been watching and bothering Eric for years, almost got him to consider coming to the Cape wrath trail with me once. Might try again. Hi, Eric, Britains hardest trail calling, where you at, bro?
@eric_hanson I've never done it myself, I'm looking at doing it's smaller brother, the West Highland way, which is half the length but still epic af. Last year was bad for hiking for me as I was building our new gym (im a boxing coach) for months. This year, I'm building my channel.
AWESOME and WOW! How many miles did you hike in? 1st night out of the wind and then 2nd? I’m 61, not sure if that is past my bucket list, but WOW, if I can I will. Thank you, this was truly awesome.
The first hike wasn't crazy, about 6 miles back to the campground. We did a pretty huge connection hike to the next spot we camped, but we added in a big climb. This is actually a surprisingly good hiking destination even if you're not extremely fit. Low elevation, and not a ton of elevation gain until you get right up to the vertical rock faces.
ha, they're great right?! I needed to pick up a pair of sunglasses in El Chalten and I was gonna buy those for me! But they fit Kristi way better, so anyway, they're some random brand we got in Argentina!
That would work too. Part of the need for the heavy duty tripod too was that the wind would just shake the more lightweight one we had, making the video not good!
We carried the Canon 5D Mark II and the 5D, RF 15-35 and 100-500 lenses, I had 8 batteries for the new Mark II and 10 batteries for the old 5D (the old batteries are not compatible with the updated camera), about 1.5 TB of memory cards, and one big ace tripod!
@@eric_hanson you must be a long time Canon shooter coming from 5D and 5D Mark II origins. I myself shot on the 5D Mark III before upgrading to the R5, which I think is what you have along with the R5 Mark II.
@ thank you Kristi 😃 Your video is so beautiful, sometimes I think about stop hiking and do another hobby but this video got me all melancholic and reminded me about why I love hiking, those views and seeing Gods creation, Mother Nature is one of a kind, and we are blessed to be able to get out there and see it with our own eyes ❤️❤️❤️
Tbh the most interesting part of this video is that you’re in a brand new marriage with a soulmate exploring the world. The camping gear seemed irrelevant once I got into it
Volume is half level what it should be. - I have powered desktop speakers, no problem here. Just letting you know. Literally up to 20 where most vids only need 10. Camera gear has killed ultra light backpacking haha....Or one might claim has made it that more important actually haha. Never pitch your tent for views. Always for shelter. You'll always sleep better. Enjoy the views while hiking. You can't see views while sleeping and at night. You'll enjoy the views and the experiences during the day, FAR more, being well rested, than if you pitched your tent for the "idea" of views and hardly sleep.
I'm sure Dan knows you only said what you said about slipping your feet into other quilts because Christie was there. And I'm sure Christie won't read this and wonder what her loving husband does on his trips with Dan.
You've been hiking for 8 hours up a grueling trail, days worth of food and kit, then coming toward you are a young couple in jogging gear with just a baby in a back pack for their daily run......Wha??????
How are these videos NOT getting like hundreds of thousands of views. They are so good! Come on YT algorithm
I appreciate the sentiment! Let's get these out there!
Thanks for quitting your old job and have started this new chapter in your life. Thanks for showing us nature‘s beauty.
I'm pretty happy with the new chapter!

The part in the video with ice and water images was so amazing I started to cry. Thank you.
It's just so gosh darn beautiful!
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful epic video showcase! I love the clanking chiming ice flow! You both together are magic adventure energy!!
The clinking ice is perhaps the most magical sound I've ever heard in nature. It was sooo cool. The microphone didn't even do it justice. And thank you!
Dude I got chills watching that sunrise sequence. Just wow!!!
Thanks Devin! I got chills too, but it may have just been that it was really windy and col.
The footage and the way you weaved the images with music and clips of you guys sharing your experience was deeply majestic. 10/10
Wow! Another unbelievably beautiful film. Thank you for telling this story about a far away place that most of us will never see with our own eyes. Stunningly beautiful and deeply moving! Thanks for being patient, that weather window was fantastic. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that!
You did marvelous job here! Filming, storytelling, atmosphere, color grading and cinematography are flawless guys! Outstanding channel!!!
Omg, you’re hilarious!!! “I most certainly won’t do it with Dan Becker”.
I was screaming! 😂😂😂
Breath taking
Eric, This is a masterpiece!Absolutely stunning clips of those mountains, the glacier, right down to the smaller pieces of ice in the lagoon; and that's just the tip of the ice berg! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I can't wait for more!
What an incredible adventure! I'm so glad that you took Kristi along as "the voice of reason" and the amazing badass that she is!
she is so impressive and I need her around to keep me from making poor decisions
Man, you're not kidding brother! That is MAGICAL! Mahalo for the share! Epic indeed!
Thank you! This goes down as the best backpacking trip I've ever done!
Dragon scales. I like that description! I’m going to use that when I have to cross plates of shale. I sliced the back of my hand open on one once, including a tendon.
ooof! that's not fun!
I love zenbivy also I have the core bed set just the insulated sheet and quilt and I fall asleep almost instantly

Thanks for hauling around all that weight in camera equipment. My two favorite shots were the closeups of the ice in the lagoon and the reflection of the mountains in your sunglasses.
Sometimes, beauty can touch you so profoundly it makes you cry. These mountain views certainly qualify. Your videos captured them so magnificently.
I'm so glad to hear that, soul stirring stuff out there!
Amazing! I was crying right along with y'all! One more for my ever-growing bucket list. 👏

it was totally worth it!
Holy snap! How amazing is that?! What a phenomenally epic trip that is. Such a special place to witness. You two are so very lucky 💕

Mesmerizing! I usually don’t have the tension span to watch a 45 minute video but I was locked on the whole time. So awesome!
that's high praise! It can be a time commitment but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Same. 👏
what a great video - thanks for sharing your adventure and the amazing videography - just incredible!

Well done. Beautiful footage, and you guys are great together!
Cheers from Brazil 💪🏽

Thanks Tyler! I'm excited to go explore with you in Banff!

@eric_hanson Trust me, it's all I think about. You guys really took it up a notch backpacking and staying out, too. Your efforts were rewarded!
Hi Pete!! I was just gonna say...I just watched it and YES you, Andy and Brenda hiked the beginning of that!!!!!
Just beautiful......

Hi, Eric, Britains hardest trail calling, where you at, bro?
Haha well thanks for binging Miranda's and my channel! I did rather enjoy the Penine Way, Cape Wrath sounds quite intense!
@eric_hanson I've never done it myself, I'm looking at doing it's smaller brother, the West Highland way, which is half the length but still epic af.

AMAZING Thanks!
Your wife is lovely!! Enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

GREAT idea to wait for weather. It's a shame to get there and have the peaks covered with cloud.
that would be a bummer! These are the most epic peaks ever!
Stunning scenery! Thank you for sharing! What camera lens was your wife using?
My favorite part of Sunday😎

I think - get an UL tripod with a hook at the bottom to hang a heavy thing like your backpack.
That would work too. Part of the need for the heavy duty tripod too was that the wind would just shake the more lightweight one we had, making the video not good!
What camera gear did you use on this trip? How many batteries did you carry for each camera?

My favorite Aku high top boots! Eric will chime in with real details 🤣

What beanie is that Eric?
It's from Appalachian Gear Co, which has sadly gone out of business.
How much liter/volume backpack do you use for such a hike?
I used the 70L pack from Zpacks but I only needed about 60 liters for gear + camera gear.
@eric_hanson great, thank you. I'm looking for 65L for hiking + camping (tent and stuff) with kids.
Tbh the most interesting part of this video is that you’re in a brand new marriage with a soulmate exploring the world. The camping gear seemed irrelevant once I got into it
