There is a fan made remastered that somebody is working on, I think the guy posts footage of it in the quest 64 discord. It’s a shame imagineer has never considered reviving it and just focuses on the fitness boxing games on switch. I want a Quest Boxing game!
I have not played Crisis Core so I cannot comment on any differences between it and Quest 64. It is interesting how the battle systems of both Crisis Core and Quest 64 are very similar to each other. Some people say that all stories are just the same story but with the story elements changed, this is a similar thing. The same game but with different gameplay elements.
Yeah, until recently I had never played crisis core , not even when it was on PSP. At the end of the day, Final Fantasy games are fantasy games, just like quest.
I just recently completed and permanently retired Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core Reunion. I thought the game was okay for what it was. I only played it because my wife wanted me to since we had played and beaten final fantasy 7 rebirth together. I think crisis core is competent for what it is, but all those pointless missions were incredibly annoying as well as a bunch of trophies that were locked behind getting perfect scores when it came to many of the mini-games that the game had especially during the main missions of the game. An enjoyable game, but not without its flaws. I still haven't had an opportunity to play Quest 64, but despite whatever the majority of the people think of the game. I'm willing to give it a try and hopefully complete it. I know it's not what people wanted with regards to an N64 rpg, but you have to make due with what you have and let's face it - the N64 was never an rpg system, but yet it still made some of the most enjoyable 3D platformers, racing games,, and first person shooters throughout that gaming generation.
I think until crisis core, the only other Final Fantasy VII game I ever played was dirge of Cerberus, which I never finished. I’ve still never played the original Final Fantasy VII or any of the remakes. I haven’t attempted any of the side missions yet and I’ve just been focusing on the main story. I’m at the part where the kids stole my wallet and now I gotta go get his wallet from a monster or something. The voice acting and lip syncing has been pretty wonky. I will say this I’ve definitely been having some fun with it. Yeah, the biggest problem with Quest 64 is it was way over hyped and just didn’t deliver . It’s definitely not as bad as people say it is, but it’s very average or middle of the road, but still once you figure it out it gets pretty interesting.
When you put it that way, it seems like Quest 64 was ahead of its time. The new final fantasy games use a similar system where you need to be moving around and aware of your surroundings to make effective attacks. Something a lot of turn base rpg enthusiasts do not like which could explain quest 64s initial poor reception and its current renaissance
Quest 64 really was ahead of its time in that way. What I find fascinating is how so many people when they first played the game didn’t understand that Brian could move around in battle ( I’ve seen a number of let’s play where people did not understand this initially). I also think a lot of people didn’t realize this because they probably never read the manual because a lot of people played it on an emulator for the first time. Yeah, when it debuted there was a ton of hype around it, and people felt let down , and most magazines gave it really mixed reviews, but I think a lot of the worst reviews came far later in retrospect. I’m really glad more people are giving Quest 64 an honest shot.
I loved quest 64 as a kid ,I didn’t know what I was doing so much, I would just wander around and battle, but idk why I still loved to play it, I still own it, this has reminded me of it, I would like to go back, as an adult, play it, with actually being able to beat it, and see if what the UA-camrs say is true, or if I still enjoy it
I remember renting it as a kid and getting really confused. I didn’t read the instruction manual and I think that would’ve made a difference. After playing it last November it’s definitely better than I remember. It’s not a masterpiece, but it is not a bad game by any stretch. There definitely were some larger UA-camrs who played it, didn’t really understand the mechanics, and have unfortunately shaped the discourse around it for years. I’m glad there has been renewed interest in it and I’m glad more people are giving it an honest shot. I like to think of it as an 8 bit RPG with 64 bit graphics.
Interesting idea! I think if CC was a bit more magic focused it'd really be a step up from what Quest wanted to do. Being able to physically avoid magic was always the biggest appeal for me and I'd loved to see that more refined somehow.
Didn't know a thing about Crisis Core before this(too many spinoff games😅). Yeah, they do seem fairly similar. Would not recommend an air&fire playthrough of Quest 64 for your first time 😅 it is a pretty good challenge but requires a lot of grinding and you want to save the majority of your healing/mp items for the very end of the game 🙃
There really are waaaay too many FFVII spinoffs. Not a bad little game for what it is. yeah air and fire is fricken savage! it's definitely a self-imposed hard mode of Quest.
@@PKInTheUniverse I definitely will. I also know someone who loves Crisis Core and they'll probably have their mind blasted to see how long ago that kind of RPG combat had been established. It's always nice to see another video from you! Your videos played a big part in finally motivating me to get my own filming kicked into gear.
unfortunately i don't have thoughts on the topic, as im unfamiliar. However, im looking forward to watching your quest 64 video and learning about it. good work on the end cards - makes it easy for me to transition and learn about it :] jk out
Watchin' this makes me want Imagineer to do a Quest 64 remaster/remake. Do it you cowards!
Great comparison, PK, and thanks for the mention!

Indeed ! I was surprised how much customization there is with CC.
Interesting comparison video :-) Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome work!
Thank you, sir! It was fun to make a comparison I've seen very few make.

PK in the Universe, back with another video? Woo hoo!🎉 Quest 64 looks so fun, I still need to give it its fair chance before I die.

@@JonKratz yeah it’s been a while since I actually put end cards on a video , I really need to do that more often. Thanks for watching friend.
Very interesting. Thank you, PK.
