Paolo is just amazing! No wonder the young people of Scotland have made his records million sellers, and I admire their choice and taste in music, they are spot on !!!! Albainn gu Brath,
Love Paolo, and I love this song. My dad's fave song, so much that's he's already asked that it's plaed at his funeral. Make's me proud to be Scottish, Burn's words ring true today and the world can still learn from them.
Some of the best words ever written; makes me proud to be a Scot and hopeful that people listen to these words and put them into practice in their lives.
Being something of a traditionalist I knew I was going to hate this - I was wrong, it was excellent! They stuck to the tune, though played in a modern, punchy style and they stuck to the words and sang them with vigor and passion.
Oh my gosh, I freaking love this song! He's amazing! I'm not even Scotish whatsoever, but I'm totally with all of you for your independence! If I could, I would vote yes! :D
Paolo catches the whole philosophy of being Scottish - which is the same philosophy from Timbuktu to Cape Horn - The Scots Nation were never beaten and can always relate to their brothers - Maori, Navajo, Nigerian, Apache, Aborigine, Lakota, Ghanaian - the Scots stood up to the English government and spread their love across the whole world!
I would love to see Scottish independence and I believe in my life time I will however I don't see how "A mans a man" has anything to with independence for Scotland. That Man to Man, the world o'er, Shall brothers be for a' that.
What a powerful rendition on par with that at the opening of the Parliament! EU has that beautiful poem by Schiller to Beethoven's music. A Man's should be the UN anthem!!!
OMG, he truly IS a real Scot! What I wadnae gie tae hear'm sing "Flower of Scotland" at the op'nin o' a national rugby match! NZ in the fa' mebbe? We can on'y hope! Is it my imagination, or does he actually bear a resemblance tae Auld Rab?
makes you proud to be scottish, its amazing how a poem written so long ago is still so relevant today,it absolutly should be the new national anthem, its uplifting and emotional, can you imagine a 60 thousand strong tartan army singing a mams a man around hampden, much better than the dreary "THOSE HILLS ARE BARE NOW"lyrics from flower of scotland,
I agree Tad, but many young people don't have a clue who Rabbie Burns was. I was praising Paolo for singing his songs and thus showing his beliefs are still alive today.
OMG He truly IS a real Scot! What I wadnae gie tae hear'm sing "Flower of Scotland" at the op'nin o' a national rugby match! NZ in the fa' mebbe? We can on'y hope!
wonderful !!! great version thank you if the young people sing hhis songs Rabbie will celebrete another 250yrs [its the BURNS 250yrs since his birth] SCOTLAND has opened here doors so everyone can visir Scotland in 2009
I wish I was the same age as Paulo....In Scotland (which means the whole fuckin' world...) his music, words and general feel are real! If I should be so privileged as to work with Paolo Nutini I would consider myself blessed....the MAN'S THE GOWD for aw that
I wish I was the same age as Paulo....In Scotland (which means the whole fuckin' world...) his music, words and general feel are real! If I should be so privileged as to work with Paolo Nutini I would consider myself blessed....
iT'S NOT A FENIAN TRICOLOUR, IT'S AN ITALIAN FLAG BY JOVE! Great thing, Paolo. Don't know your music so well but I like this movie VERY much. Splendid song and the rebel spirit of Burns is all there. Braw!
Brilliant. Paolo refreshes the ancient lyric of men who are human against all odds in a strident feminist age. When the Gay Men's Chorus from London appeared for the first time in Edinburgh in May 2007, they brought down the house when they left camp behind at the moment when a Scotsman came out in kilt and sang this Robbie Burns song. We American tourists who chanced upon this performance fainted dead away. Omigod. Go, Paolo, go. Where is your CD cut of this?
Fantastic rendition -the sentiments of Socialism and pride are ageless and belong to no particular generation. That a 21 year old can sing this song with such enthusiasm today would have brought a smile to Burns's face. Well done that man!
I would like to see more modern singers/bands that can do it, able to perform classic folk songs. Top performance by Paolo. P.S: this post comes from an Australian! :)
Happy Birthday Rabbie! Sae come aa ye at hame wi freedom Never heed whit the houdies croak for Doom In yer hous aa the bairns o Aidam Will fin breid, barley-bree an paintit room Whan MacLean meets wi's friens in Springburn Aa thae roses an geeans will turn tae blume An a black laud frae yont Nyanga Dings the fell gallows o the burghers doun. Freedom come aa ye!
@TheWardlaw1 The sentiments may be written and sung in Scots, but the song transend petty nationalism. "That man to man, the world over, shall brothers be for all that" - Thank you TheWardlaw1 for the reminder.
The Scottish Nation has been under the English heel since 1707! Forget the religious side - England has been under a German Monarchy for these 300 years - Scotland must take back Her Birthright - an enlightened vision of the future which embraces ALL Nations as Brothers and Sisters One World - One Love!
great modern version of a classic scottish song about brothers all over the world and humanity in general sharing the same problems and thinking can we solve them together? unfortunately the answers nearly always naw. i cant beleive the old firm zombies are argueing over this, and thats how it will not change cos they just soak up the sectarianism and hatred handed down to them,as if punk or anything involving moving forward and thinking for yourself never happened.a mans a man for a that! x
Well if Paolo is singing like a sheep, I have to say I´ve never seen a better singing sheep! He must be the most gorgeous sheep on this planet! ;) Paolo is the best!
@GilleanFreire The Jewish center of Scotland? Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that is where Paisley's orginated from, Hellmans mayo, weaving, and Scottish Whiskey.
Paolo pal play the wickerman festival next year FOR LOVE (dumfries and galloway) rocks ye can stay at ma cottage next to Ellisland come on the SCOTLAND
had an argument with my mate about immigration before, he was sayin shouldnae be lettin everybody in. i was sayin we jus got lucky we were born in scotland. wish i brought this up, would hav finished the argument straight away, because a mans man for a' that.

Makes me wish I was Scottish!!!
Wow! Paolo is one of the best musicians of our time and he makes me proud to be Scottish!

Today, more than ever, listen and believe, we are worth more than any politician!!
I'm a proud to be Scottish. Wouldn't be any other nationality.
Paolo is just amazing! No wonder the young people of Scotland have made his records million sellers, and I admire their choice and taste in music, they are spot on !!!! Albainn gu Brath,
As Burns' himself said; "Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn!"
Love Paolo, and I love this song. My dad's fave song, so much that's he's already asked that it's plaed at his funeral. Make's me proud to be Scottish, Burn's words ring true today and the world can still learn from them.

All those complaining about cultural descent "and a' that" are the kind of people who Burns eloquently scorns within his song.
I love his vibratto - it reaches places other singers' can't!
the 13 people who disliked this obviously cant hear!
I agree.
And 9 years later, there are 28 ass holes more. Forget them.
Paolo....this is a brilliant version...well done min

I would love to see Scottish independence and I believe in my life time I will however I don't see how "A mans a man" has anything to with independence for Scotland.
