I don't get the math. He said they will be paying out half a billion dollars(that year). The platform has about 3 million paying members. On average they pay $11-12 per month. That is like 33-36 million dollars per month and 396-432 million dollars a year. Was the half a billion a round figure or I'm not getting something right?

2012 13 I had solar installed. 6K USD up front cost. Now I have zero electricity costs.
At $3/W, I'd assume you had 2000W capacity put in. Multiplying by 5hr max output yield per day, you're producing and consuming 10kwh of electricity or $1 at 10 cent/kwh price. Given 30 years life of the panel, your break even would be $6k/1 = 6,000 days or 15 or so years.
In that 15 year period, your $6k invested into S&P500 (+10% avg growth) would've compounded to over $25k.
Comparing the two routes, I'd rather pay the bills instead.
He takes WAY too much money, creators you can do this yourself with your own merchant account.

CANCEL Patreon. They are an unethical company that has banned many excellent producers for wrong-thing. Find other ways to support content providers. But whatever you do, NEVER join Patreon. They are not pro free-speech. Alternatives like subscribestar or others should always be used instead of Patreon.
You know how you get off the highway in town and there is usually someone there with a will work for food sign ? Well, Patreon gets them off the road and on the internet so they can beg in style.
Just don't have a different political opinion than Jack. If you do your account will be closed.
