Hard to see how anyone can last with Kovalev without going into their shell for most of the fight, but its just as hard to imagine Ward not being able to impose his game and shutting shit down. Man I cant wait for this fight.

Music Music no sir Sergio was clearly out boxed for 12 rounds by chilemba. Chilemba is the first true lt heavy that kovelev has fought. Hopkins was a middleweight and pascal was a super middleweight. If he couldn't deal with Chilembas movement what is he going to do with ward or Stevenson ?

Best fight of 2017 no doubt about it, and probably one of the biggest fight of the last 10 years.
This is a hard fight to call , even by the experts . I felt that Hopkins did not get enough praise for lasting the distance in this bout. If pushed I will go for Ward because of how smart a ring general he really is . I was pleased he took this fight , because Karl Froch had made such a deal about him being terrified and he would never face Kovelov for any amount of money . This is the 2nd time he has shown that Froch still bears him some ill will for having beaten him with ease ,

Ward roughed up Carl Froch, who was supposedly the bigger man. Beat the breaks off of Kessler, who was supposed to be too big of a puncher for him and schooled Abraham. He also schooled and outboxed a durable Chad Dawson. He's had bigger tests in the earlier stages of his career, when he was even less experienced. What does Kovalev can bring to the table that Ward hasn't already faced and defeated? More size, a punch, aggression..? I think Ward takes this one, easily. Ward has been tested, Kovalev is still an unknown quantity. Beating a smaller man in Pascal and a pensioner in Hopkins proves nothing.

King Naka man its not just a good fight. its a rare fight nowadays. two guys that have no loses in their career decide to challenge each other instead of making "correct management choices" and picking some too old/too young/less professional guys to blow up their own KO record. boxing is full of shit like this, it is so refreshing to get that kind of fight from time to time. i think that the media coverage is actually great this time, lots of preshow meladramatic trailers where they compete who had more misarable life and stuff, with "this is my first gym" stories. =D i cant wait to see who wins!

No disrespect to Kovalev, but it's frustrating when people get too caught up in the hype of athletes with amazing win / KO streaks and forget about others.

Never bet against someone like Ward, what makes them a huge force isn't always athletic ability, its the same as Mayweather, Ali or Hagler, their desire to win and be the best, there is no comparison, They don't get hit and give up, they don't meet competition and give up, they just won't admit they can't control something or someone. This is also the same makeup of business's, why most business's fail, they all want to be the best, but only a small percentage have that drive to never back down. The confidence they speak of is not unfounded its because these men have never given up or admitted defeat in life.
Very skilled boxers like Roy Jones didn't have this quality and it made them beatable, seasoned pro's like Hopkins don't have this quality either, they win on sheer experience and athleticism.
Kovalev looks like a very skilled and hard puncher, world class. Ward looks like a intelligent man who doesn't know how to lose. So I think when it comes to it, Ward has this huge advantage because they want back up, they want to win so badly it means they force themselves to adapt to anyone and overpower them. The same as Ali even after Fraizer 1. Same as Floyd or as Hagler (Hagler however wasn't scared to lose, he was determined to prove everyone wrong, and never managed to do it enough)

Unbelievable fight. Both fighters are in their prime right now which should make the fight amazing to watch. Kovalev cuts the ring off and blitzes his opponents and is a murderous puncher and has a solid jaw. Ward has very good skill and is difficult for anyone to beat. I am picking Ward to win on points because he seems to do best against fighters who have a similar style to kovalev.

Gotta say even after Wards career is over I want to hear his analysis of fighters. Their flaws, strengths... he's got an incredible boxing IQ. It's not just athleticism like Roy Jones (and that's not a knock to Jones). He'd probably be a hell of a trainer too.
