Carbon Monoxide detection in RVs and campers is paramount. These are small confined spaces - if carbon monoxide was to accumulate, the small volume would quickly be inundated with carbon monoxide levels in a very short time. The main sources of carbon monoxide include generator exhaust and propane appliance emissions. It is best to have a Low-Level Carbon Monoxide Detector in such small spaces that will alarm occupants at 25ppm compared to the generic CO detectors that trigger at 70ppm after 60 minutes. Obtaining a fast and early CO alarm is especially important for the elderly, young, and those with pre-conditions.
Why is Carbon Monoxide a problem in RVs and campers?
RVs and campers, just like most recreational vehicle alternatives have small confined spaces that can be quickly inundated with carbon monoxide. Carbon Monoxide is very dangerous. It is a colorless and odorless gas that is deadly.
How does carbon monoxide enter an RV or camper?
Generators: Carbon monoxide originates from exhaust coming from your built-in generator. The generator exhaust may enter your RV via panel holes, panel seams, cracks, window openings, and other entry ports that you would not believe are possible. Studies have shown that obstructions, wind direction, exhaust attachment, and generator load are key variables in producing and or redirecting carbon monoxide into your RV.
Propane Appliances: Carbon Monoxide can be generated from gas heaters, water boilers, gas cooking, and portable propane camping stoves and grills. When cooking make sure a window or door is open for good ventilation to allow for carbon monoxide venting and to ensure enough oxygen and air supply for good propane combustion to take place.
Exhaust Obstructions: Another hazard for RVs and campers is high grass or weeds, snowbanks, buildings, or other obstructions that may redirect exhaust gas back into the vehicle. Wind direction changes can also assist in CO seeping back into the RV or camper.
Neighboring Generator Exhaust: Close proximity exhaust from a neighbors generator can make its way into your camper. With the right conditions, change in wind direction, change in a window being opened, or exhaust output quantity due to load, this problem may occur very fast without any warning.
RVs and campers are small mobile confined spaces, that if carbon monoxide was to accumulate, the small volume would quickly be inundated with carbon monoxide levels in a very short time.

A low-level carbon monoxide detector is a wise supplement to ensure fast and effective protection at low levels of carbon monoxide.

Forensics Detectors: Might you answer a few questions? Can you tell me where price becomes a factor? I've seen these units priced at near and well over $100 US; is it necessary to spend that much? There are some brands that sell for under $50. Can you tell me what is your best recommendation from your products for a campervan? I did not get your top choice for a carbon monoxide detector for a campervan from watching your video. (I'm driving a Promaster that is roughly 66 square feet not including the driver's cab)
And last, I also wonder if there is a difference between a detector that is strictly battery operated or one that is hardwired with a battery backup. Anything further you can share would be appreciated. Thank you for doing this very important video!

@@sabinekatsavrias4422 I'd prefer something personable like this over whatever kind of robotic format you're looking for

I appreciate your direct feedback. Music seems to be a common distraction for many viewers. I was trying to make the content more engaging, but I clearly missed the mark here. I'll nix the background tunes going forward and keep the focus on the information. Thanks for bearing with me!
