That moment when he stops the tanker, chambers his sawed off, takes a deep breath, and drives into hell has got to be one of the most bad ass scenes ever!!!
Little bits of detail like this is what Fury Road lacked! Another one that I loved was when Wez shots the bolt through the ceiling of the tanker into Max's leg and the feral kid looks at him in amazement as he doesn't flinch, Max then proceeds to fire his shotgun at the guy appearing at his window. Epic!

Everyone talking bout the truck but man that .44 will always come to mind when i think of this scene Such a slick sequence of him getting it out of its case like the revered artifact it is, priming a cylinder, and then subverting expectations by aming down at the last second going for the engine Probably my favorite part of the movie
He didn’t take a look back to see the girl. Because the tent didn’t come off until After Max had already driven past the tent. Which means that he couldn’t have known that there was a girl in the to begin with. IMO, he took a look back to make sure that The Humungus wasn’t continuing to aim that huge .44 magnum at the back of his head. Which would be a way more important reason for him to look over his shoulder.
I love those camera angles! 1:27 when the ex MFP officer hops into his car. 2:32 That distant shot of the rig, desperately punching through, surrounded by the enemy 2:35 Rock tossin' You can see that same guy at 2:32 running towards the rig 3:02 .44 Magnum And many more. This is the kind of movie making i miss these days.

It's an amazing scene.
@jimbojimbo7103 It's a very rare POV shot of an ordinary henchman, even if just for a few seconds, we see the scene from the perspective of one of the nameless, faceless bad guys. You just never really see that in movies, which is why it's so memorable.

this movie series has always given me a stiffy. I broke 2 vcrs rewinding,and replaying these first 3 films in slow mo,or replaying the same scene 12 times in a row. fucking timeless.especially the rawness and high octane of the 1st mad max.

Australian movies tend to only do explosions if it's really relevant to the plot, not doing it gratuitously. For example, in the first Mad Max movie, Max handcuffs Johhny the Boy to an upturned ute leaking fuel. Max drops a hacksaw in front of him and says "the chain in those handcuffs are made from high tensile steel it'll take you 10 minutes to cut through them. Or you could cut through your ankle in 5." As he drives away, there's an explosion, and it's there to indicate Johnny got barbecued

If you didn't notice the humongus has numerous former mfp officers. Humongous himself seemed to be the captain or chief of a mfp division. This is why he calls max you puppy as he planned to recruit him into the group.
Actually he was an ex-Australian-army officer & the other gang members who wore uniforms were:ex-soldiers. They were probably his men,from his army,days.

It's almost like a silent movie. You could imagine the dialogue being replaced with text cards (apart from the interplay between Max and the Gyro Captain). It does need to be seen on a big screen.

Ignore the fact that it's a "day cab" (no sleeper) and the post-apocalyptic paint job, and this is what Macks looked like in the early 80s in Australia. The armour up front is a bullbar, albeit one made of steel, and we use them to keep dopey animals out of the radiator
you can just catch the stunt driver falling onto floor at end of 2nd chase when he goes over embankment and rolls truck. In movie "Duel', you can see driver's door open just before truck goes over cliff. Useless trivia, but fun stuff to look for.

I always said that Mack coolpower with the quad box is the real star of the flick Interesting bit Gibson could not shift it If you look at the scene when the bad guys rip off the drivers door you can get a fast glimpse of a truck driver on set that was sitting between the seats telling gibson when to use the throttle and clutch and was shifting it for him .

Note a lot of the bad guys were costumed by the leather shops ! the idea leather would last a long time and could be made from animals hunted by the survivors .
Shanethefilmmaker They made Max a bumbling side kick that constantly has to get rescued and ordered around by Charlize Theron the Feminist super hero. The action is great but the left wing politics gets tiresome. I was rooting for the villains by the end of it.
Bob Smith You do realize Max wasn't a main character from Road Warrior on, he's what's known as a supporting protagonist. The only time he was ever the main focus on the goings on in the story was in the first movie. Every other movie since then was him helping out someone else's problem. How is what he did in Fury Road any different than what he did in Road Warrior and Thunderdome?

I'm so glad they put stuff like this into the Mad Max video game. Getting to drive big, clunky trucks as well as all manner of mean cars.
Would be amazing to be able to drive an authentic Mack in the game though.

To me this is what George Miller was perfect at. Making you feel part of the chase.
Miller also omitted the band "Men at Work" as the Mad Max soundtrack (but it probably crossed his mind like it's crossed mine).

I always said that Mack coolpower with the quad box is the real star of the flick Interesting bit Gibson could not shift it If you look at the scene when the bad guys rip off the drivers door you can get a fast glimpse of a truck driver on set that was sitting between the seats telling gibson when to use the throttle and clutch and was shifting it for him .

Bob Smith You do realize Max wasn't a main character from Road Warrior on, he's what's known as a supporting protagonist. The only time he was ever the main focus on the goings on in the story was in the first movie. Every other movie since then was him helping out someone else's problem. How is what he did in Fury Road any different than what he did in Road Warrior and Thunderdome?
