Saved me so much time thank you. I had no idea you could just slide off those covers to fix it from the top I was trying to tighten it up from underneath which is extreme;y difficut to get access to.
Sorry no this is how you tighten a loose toilet seat and how you can remove and replace a toilet seat if its a Vitra seat. If your soft close has stopped working this will be due to the soft close being over strained (normally by someone pushing down the seat instead of just letting it close) and you would need to replace the seat of softclose hinge. If your seat is a vitra seat you can replace the hinges to repaire the soft close, but thats not shown in this video.
Okay. So when I want to wipe, I have to lean forward, as does everyone else, and the seat slides like mad and I have a heart attack almost each time. How do I sort that out!!?
If the whole post has come away from the backing plate, then unfortantly you will need to replace the whole pole and backing plate, a spare maybe available from Vitra.
The toilet seat doesn't just lift off as you show. The seat has to be 'persuaded' to lift off the pins. Like wise when you have tightened the screws if the pins aren't exactly in line with the correct part of the hole in the seat hinge they can't be pushed down onto the pins and locked in place. You then get the problem that Fraser mentions.
I've never commented on a youtube video before. But after going at this from underneath the seat for an hour I too was about to reach for a hammer. Muchas gracias
Easy to install, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjA-hDN2m8_mi0Dg0JD8U6QiArozIAc4I and comfortable. No idea what other people were talking about when they said it was difficult to install or uncomfortable.
great video. Finally i can have a non- move toilet seat at home after several years of this problem!
Hello, nice video. I would like to ask you for hints how to change Soft closing Cylinders, please?
Thank you very much for these clear and detailed instructions. Moved into a new flat, and was completely clueless how to fix the loose seat!

Is this the solution to a top lid that has stopped 'soft closing' all of a sudden?

Now I know. Thanks.

Also thanks
What do I do if one of the screws doesn't tighten?
Did you find out?
mine was a philips screw actually
Positive drive or Philips Drive will both work.

Thanks. Without this video I would crash my toilet with a hammer. I was so frustrated...
Glad we could help
Meant to say the bigger flat ones hiding the screws
