Hey guys, I’m the one that had the issue. Was having issues ever since about December. I actually did his TPS delete mod back in January ish. (See his video). Putting my overdrive on a switch worked perfectly for about 4 months. All of a sudden it started kicking in and out of OD and eventually failed all together. I ran all new ground wires. Checked fluid. Checked switch. TPS had already been deleted at this point. Adjusted the kick down cable. Nothing worked. Could not go over 45 miles an hour. Talked to Tim again for probably the 5th time and he told me about this sensor. Instead of using a paper clip, I cut the sensor out completely and just crimped the wires together for a more permanent solution. FINALLY my overdrive was fixed. This was about 3-5 days ago and has worked perfectly ever since. Tim is definitely the go to guy when having issues. Every issue I’ve had, he’s helped fix. Much appreciated.
Thank you for posting this Tim. This worked for me on my first gen. Had issues with popping in and out of gear so I tried the paper clip. It works great now. I will probably just hard wire the two wires together completely and delete the sensor since I have a trans temp gauge in the cab. Glad it works how it’s supposed to now
@@decentgarage and believe it or not just unplugging it and plugging it back in cleaned whatever gunk or what was effecting it out and it doesn’t even need replaced. I wouldn’t have thought in a million years that this would be such a simple fix!
New guy to the diesel world. Just got a 1992 D250 and did my first oil change. Now I'm a lil nervous with changing the fuel filter. The whole thing about repriming the fuel system. If you have any good tips I would greatly appreciate it. Awesome channel man!!!

Good video! I will be checking my 93 soon. Pretty much had these issues since I bought my d350. I didn't license it this year mainly because of od issues. This video will get me interested in working on it again. The oil change video and other seemingly mundane tasks to you would help out the new people. These 1 gen diesels have a bit of new and a bit of old technology. Enough to humble most. Keep up the good work so you can keep on truckin and keep us all truckin.
Check the coil on the CR80. There is a high speed and low speed winding. Sometimes they burn out or fail. A mouse chewed the wire off the high-speed winding on my 80 coil and when running it was fine until wide open throttle. Low RPM was perfect, wide-open throttle would not rev up and sputtered. If it smells bad it will need replaced as it is burned out. They all fail at some point.
Hope you ordered the STOCK SIZE TIRES as that size is engineered for that truck. Wider, taller or smaller all has some kind of effect on the truck. Most people just don't understand MPG, power, and mechanical damage can all be affected from incorrect rim and tire sizes.
I’ve got the 727 non OD, i’ve been thinking about doing a third Gen, five or six speed automatic swap to make the drive ability way better. Also sidenote glad to see I’m not the only one that runs the Kirkland 15w40 oil. lol
Hey this is six in a row Jim again I used that technique for loosening the jam that on my I had to turn my idol up on my old Dodge but I was able to get in there with one of those little screwdriver so I can get from the snap on truck got right in there and turned right up anyhow yeah and then I used to punch in hammer and just snug back up again thanks for that information by
I cannot get my overdrive in my 91.5 to work. I bought it 12 hours away. Test drove it, all good. Started heading home, got about an hour away and it felt like the trans was slipping. My first thought was oh of course. It has a new trans about 20k ago slightly built. He had paperwork online so I was confused. Going about 75-80 it just felt like it was coming out of gear and if I gave it full throttle it would sometimes go into overdrive. Then about 30 mins later it stopped. Drove it the rest of the way home no issues. Drove it to Wichita (little over an hour from me) about 3 times and a couple other 30 mins to an hour drives and then to work and stuff which I work local but it never did it. Then about 3 weeks later going to McPherson it started doing it again. So I slowed down and realized it wasn’t slipping it was downshifting. Then it just would absolutely not go into overdrive since. I can only go about 50 mph. I have a new pigtail on my tps and adjusted it correctly. Sometimes when I’ve checked it it goes a little bit lower in voltage which I thought was weird. I tried to do the trick displayed in this video and went and drove it and it went into overdrive once and turned off the highway and it just won’t go into overdrive now. I didn’t use stainless steel wire on this trick would that matter? I’m just stuck on what this could be.
Are you on your off 85 mL bike I forget what model you said it was but I doubt it’s this big check the rubber boot the carburetor goes into the bolts to the head it may be cracked up and might have a vacuum leak
I'm about to sell my 91 because I can't figure this out lol. I checked my tps and it only reads .17. It will only let me adjust it to .50 and when I open the throttle it will drop back to .17. Give or take a few
So yeah I tried a brand new one paid about 80 bucks for it. It was still reading .17v tried to adjust it, it would only reach .50. At WOP it would barley jump up and when I let it off the reading would fall right back to .17v.. I had tried the sensor with a paper clip trick still nothing.. im going to check my pins on the tps plug next. But the only other thing I could think of is the unit could be fried🤔. The day before it failed I did smell a weird smell while in OD, tracked it with my nose and it was coming from the computer.. but would that give me low volt numbers or no volt numbers..
@@decentgarage yeah that was something I was trying to figure out. Unfortunately there's not much about it. Atleast that I found. I'd hate to buy it then not be it. Trying to track the cheaper stuff down.
Many thanks for that. Have you got a good source for the two wire pigtail into the transmission solenoid? I am finding it difficult to get the right one.
@@decentgarage Many thanks for the quick reply, my truck is a a 1992 with the 46RH transmission, that is no torque converter lock up and a 2 wire pigtail as it only has the o/d solenoid.. Of course I will pay the shipping.

U should do a video on how to flush tranny completely, and running gear please
