- I installed a 5.2 magnum and a 46RH/A518 trans in my 1955 plymouth plaza wagon. We bought a wrecked 1995 dodge ram for $150 and moved the drivetrain over. If you are interested in this swap i have the whole swap on my channel in detail. On this video we are making the overdrive and lockup torque converter work with a few pressure switches and a vaccuum switch from PATC. transmissionce...

Great video! Such a cool car !!
Thank you 318 will run!
That car is just beautiful, so many curves and that color is perfect. And it’s just my opinion but in a way as nice as it is it’s kind of a blank slate, you could only make it prettier is what I’m trying to say!👍
Pretty crazy that color was just from a rustoleum rattle can that I told my wife "go to Walmart and get me 10 blue rattle cans" 🤣
@@somewhatfast she did a good job! Guess where I work? Lol
@@tyhogue8316 Walmart?! Or a paint store?
@@somewhatfast Walmart!
@tyhogue8316 Nice, if you were local maybe you could hook me up with a discount!
Glad you got your transmission straight and working properly. Very cool 😎. Thanks for sharing 💯👍
That PATC kit is the same kit I used on my 75 D100 that I swapped to a 46RH...I just wish mine had lock-up. Once I got the vacuum switch dialed in that kit works perfectly
Oh man it took a lot of fiddling to get the vac switch working properly. Mine kept going in and our of overdrive. Another thing is I have 3.73 gears and smaller tires than the truck it came out of so my overdrive kicks on at around 40 mph which is way too early! I need to buy an adjustable switch.
@@somewhatfast Yeah, it took some adjusting of the vacuum switch to get mine to stop going in and out of O/D...I used a hand vacuum pump to set my switch to about 5 psi or so, and that seems to be where my switch likes to be at.
Works out pretty cool that the overdrive & lockup can be controlled that easily.
The 'other guys' needs aftermarket controllers - believe me that $100 kit is a bargain compared to the controllers!
It is a GAME CHANGER took my kid to ride Go carts last night and drove it an hour 70 mph crusing on the highway just floating. Drives better than both my 2003 Ram 🐏 trucks. Took it to a corvette cars and coffee last weekend and people were all over it checking it out!
Get her done 👍🏻💯🇦🇺⛽️. MOPAR for life .
Rock on!
Make sure to do a video when you attempt to get the speedometer working..
Will do, have the parts have yet to mess with it!
I have the same setup. I ended up adding a switch to kill power to the OD/LTC when driving around town. I could not get a good balance and it would kick in and out of OD rapidly at certain speeds.
I love the transmission still
You have to adjust the vacuum switch very low. Around 6 psi and even then it's a little iffy
I wired the OD switch in my 91 d250 to a headlight dimmer switch on the floor 😆
Beautiful Car. Though I am not a fan of lowered cars or trucks, for myself. I think they look cool. To each his own. Keep the videos coming. Liked and shared. All my best.
Your in luck exhaust shop install my pipes too close to the rear end, so no lowering. For now! Thanks for watching
@@somewhatfast You are very welcome. Do has you wish with your car. I will like it ether way. Just not my cup of tea so to speak. with my car. All my very best.
Nice work!👍🏼🏁🔥🇺🇸
Thank you again!
That car is becoming so sexy I love it. I can’t wait to see more about the $350 wagon as well. It would be cool to build a tube chassis with a modern 57 hemi in it and swap the body onto it.
I looked into the 5.7 hemi I found some chrysler 300cs with hemis and some clapped out dodge chargers with hemis. Tube chassis would be too expensive and time consuming, maybe one day. I was looking at dodge dakotas to use for the frame since they have disk brakes and came with 5.9 360 magnums.
@@somewhatfast that is an excellent idea not only especially if you could find a late model Dakota that had a 4.7 in it
@geoffreyb3337 I have a 2003 ram with the 4.7 in it that motor is TOUGH. 220,000 Miles. Also a hemi 2003 truck 207,000 miles!! If i can find a 1990 or older dakota it would be a perfect frame because they are narrower and the lugpattern is 5x4.5 so you can use stock plymouth wheels, and hubcaps! And then I can go from there and make whatever engine I want fit. Idk yet have to sit on it that 1974 plymouth satellite needs to get back on the road first
Love the car it is a. Sleeper except for the graphics. Lose those and it's perfect
I like the graphics its a richard petty vibe! Thanks for watching
White wire to the blue wire to the red wire to the green wire to the pink wire to Purple Power wire and BOOM 💥. JUST FLOOR IT ALREADY!!!!! 😝
🤣
Is the adjustable vacuum switch in all their kits? I was looking at their ads and I thought they had adjustable pressure switches as an option, rather than an adjustable vacuum switch? After some initial confusion it appears that the 96 transmission I have is indeed a 46rh so I should be able to do the same thing. I hope..
All the kits comes with an adjustable vac switch. Pressure switch is an option
noticed in the video your speedometer isn't connected that is a easy fix to make it work with the speedometer in the dash that came in the car
I bought a new originak 1955 Speedo cable haven't tried to make it work yet advice would be very much appreciated
@@somewhatfast if you remove the speedometer part out of the transmission you can install one that is set up for a cable there are 2 lengths short and long if you can't find one let me know summit should have them then you pick a speedometer gear to match your tire size and gear ratio and screw the cable to it and you have working speedometer.
@@somewhatfast If you need a speedo drive, I have 2 904s in the shed. I'll send you one for free if you like....
@@davidthehillbilly7995 awesome! nickmopar71@yahoo.com email me
Don't care for lowered vehicles either! maybe drop 1 inch via a change in tires, etc, especially on any trucks. That takes away the main purpose of any truck!
2 inches will give it a little better handling and smoother cruise on the highway!
Se le puede poner solo un boton para activar over drive con tierra y corriente ?
mi camino es mejor, automated
So this is probably a silly question but do these transmissions shift and run like a 727 with no computer? The electronics are just for overdrive and lockup?
Yes! Lockup and over drive are literally just a switch on the transmission. You could install a toggle on the dash for od and lock if wanted.
What size yhread were thoughs sensors. Ive been having trouble finding them to get my kit installed on my 46rh?
@@irishtbird886 I got mine from transmissioncenter.net/shop/patc-727-to-518-46rh-conversion-kit-click-here-for-727-to-46rh-swap-wiring-diagram/
Do you live by fl? Thinking of Trying to carbereater my 95 dakota 4x4 5.2 havent drove it in 2 years due to an electrical problem that shuts truck down in traffic maybe asd relay stuff but im not good with eletrical stuff :(
I'm in texas, check your local emissions inspection laws before you convert it over. They may not let you get the truck Inspected after converting it if they can't plug it into a scanner.
My friend good after noon i'm from eagle pass TX ! Can You gide me igot same transmisión and the lockup or Converter some times it's on and off ,can u gide me where is the bacum Overdrive thanks u and GOD! bless You and family.
@@PepeAndo-u6p yes. If you installed a vacuum kit from PATC. You will need to adjust the vacuum switch. Use a flat head screw drive turn the screw 1/4 turn. Take it for a drive and then keep adjusting until you get it tuned in. Remove the vacuum hose the screw is inside the tube.
@@somewhatfast thanks My friend
Como se puede consueguir ese kit ?
