Ripe melons outside in S.East England

I've started harvesting my "petit gris de rennes" melons grown outside here in the south east of England, UK.

Slugs that have attacked the melons ?
Asian pears seem very prone to splitting as well as grubs attacking from inside , i only had a half a dozen this year and they've all been spoilt 😢
