This was played at my grandfathers funeral. He was trying to learn this song. It’s been 4 years, every time I listen to this song I can still hear him laughing and playing music.
A truly touching song, about sorrow and going on when that close friend or family member leaves this earth, part of the MACC project,Musicians against Childhood Cancer.
A beautiful song performed in a beautiful fashion.
Thank you for this. The visual footage toward the end of the video in particular calls up memories of my older sister's wake - more than 20 years ago. Old friends not seen for years because we had moved away showed up with fiddles, guitars, pennywhistles, banjos and upright bass. It turned into a wonderful celebration of her life that still brings brings smiles and solace. Those memories really helped me through the first year after her death.
lost my father December 2012 from cancer and my uncle (my fathers brother ) to the same brain cancer in Jan 2013 almost a month from my father death , I have beaten cancer now for going on 7 years this November 2015 . Boy I miss them both thanks for posting .
