Cuz now Goverment give this job to Indian women's groups which they made in small vilages !
One of them in my hometown they make these things ! Under goverment self reliant
Initiative ! They doing good work ! And earning money! Our trade deficit so deadly for our country bro ! Sadly Goverment trying hard to save our each dollars!
Our exports now touch 600+ BILIONs
But still we import more than this lol !
Like 192 BILION $ more what we earn
So 192 BILION $ trade deficit is so much ! To kill our currency value ! Like super bad ! India'trying to reduce imports of products which we can make in India easily atleast !

I'd love to visit Vietnam again! About a decade ago I got a cheap ticket to Bangkok andwent directly to Vietnam and traveled from north to south over a few weeks stopping in various places. Fantastic country ans culture, and so easy to travel by train with the locals and see the beautiful landscape pass by. (They even have a whole kitchen car where they make hearty meals offered on trolleys!) Socialism has quite clearly meant everything to preserve the culture and create effective infrastructure and prohects like these featured. It's either that or have the entire country ruined by outsources industry, thank god Vietnam made better choices! I saw SO much beauty and met lots of great people everywhere, the only improvement I really hope for is the motorbikes being replaced with electric ones, the transition from bicycles to moto has made the city streets so smogged I lost my voice in only 7 days. I hope the Vietnamese government will take the problem seriously and help find a solution to transition to non fossil fuelled local transportation.
Vietnamese cuisine is one of the best in the world! Beautiful hard working people of a unique culture, if you haven't been there you MUST go! Who knows what the future holds. I only wish I could gave experienced it when the streets where quiet, the air clean in cities and everyone bicycled...

It‘s not that they don‘t want to learn; the main problem is that these jobs are considered to be „low skill“ even amongst Vietnamese so the payment is very low. Sure, there‘s lots of young people who don‘t actually want to learn but the biggest factor is the time-wage difference of these jobs. Even with the dong tao chickens, you have to invest time, resources and make a name for yourself before you start to make money.

It's not necessarily disrespect, it's more like you need a lot of passion for traditional craft to keep doing them despite not really getting financial rewards out of it, especially when the cost of living is higher now like it is everywhere else. The parchment paper industry in the west is the same as well. It's an honorable craft, but it's only for a niche set of buyers and the production process is more laborious than normal paper. Unless there's a huge unanimous movement for preserving traditional crafts, even older folks wouldn't care much, let alone young people.

    • @angustheterrible3149
      @angustheterrible3149 Рік тому +6

It isn't that young people don't want to learn, it's that we are actively discouraged by our parents from doing so. They would rather push us to become doctors or work in technical professions. Even if you are creative, parents push you to seek education in a job you may not even want. You don't understand. You don't get to choose and must respect your family in Vietnam, it's not like America where you get a choice and can go against your families wishes. Most village kids don't have the luxury of youtube either :/

Amazing stuff I’m intrigued by anything made or produced ancient and traditional methods. I am not a big fan of today’s busy world. I love to imagine living in simple days when life was much simpler with less facilities but fear and tension free time. I do also Those times had their own problems and challenges. I just love to imagine living in that time and compare with my life in current times. This comparison takes one very close to the divine and You surrender trying to understand Divine mysteries of creating this whole drama of creating human life on this earth planet. It’s simply using you energy of curiosity trying to resolve unsolvable mysteries. Amazing!!!

In Japan artist crafters like these are designated as Living Masters. They are supported by the government and have apprentise programs. It's sad to see that these artists are left to the ravages o Capitalism. There is continuing need for their products & services. They are not just hangers on from the past whose work is quaint and no longer in the mainstream.
And I want to acknowledge the very good work by the videograher and video editor on the inscense segment that runs from 1:08 to 7:17. The solid creativity exhibited by the videographer is maintained by the editor's smooth shot integrety, i.e. the fluidity of the camera movements is utililized to tell the story. A sub par editor would have just grabbed shots making a choppy visual junk pile. I'm sure this high quality is their everyday product. Thanks for the treat.
I hope Business Insider can help the included artists connect with officials in Vietnam and global groups to protect them and them thrive.

This is just a small detail, but in the "Dó" paper's section, the narrator says "giấy dó paper". "Giấy" is paper in Vietnamese, so technically they said "paper dó paper" XD. You can say it with just "dó paper" or "giấy dó". The closest you can pronounce "giấy" in english is "zay" with "ay" in "day".

@@imie-nazwiskoI’d beg to differ. we have a lot to offer too - as much as any other Asian country . It’s just that much of it isn’t well known and modernism has faded a lot of our old customs. But, there is so much to Vietnamese culture that makes it unique. Yes, it was influenced by China, but so was Japan and Korea. Last year, if I remember there was an internet uproar because some Chinese claimed that kimchi originated from China. Then, I remember there was also arguments because people claimed the hanbok was also Chinese. So yes, in general there are similarities within these countries with China. But that doesn’t mean that they have their own distinct identities and that they cultures aren’t unique because of that. The ao dai, for example, is influenced by Chinese clothing in the same way that the hanbok is. Korean architecture, values, code of conduct, food, and etc. are all influenced by China (Japan too). So honestly, would it be fair to say that they have a distinct culture and Vietnam doesnt?

So, when does a dying trade become an art form? It seems to me, that letting progress, machines, and automation take over the back-breaking work of these processes, isn't necessarily a bad thing. If these traditional products can be made faster, cheaper, and almost as good, then those who used to do the work can move on to get educated, and find other things to be passionate about.
With most of these industries automated, those who still do things the traditional way will not just be workers, but artisans. As artists, they could then produce less, but demand more money for their goods. It would be like the difference between factory made furniture, and furniture made by hand.
