Uniqlo is big thing in Asia but not known in the West. Uniqlo pays RF not to sell tennis apparel to tennis crowds but to make their brand known in the west, why? Because RF is like Beckham, a walking bilboard despite already passing their golden age as athlete.
@@victorcharles27 Bro same when I first saw Novak wearing them way back. Then I thought nah that can't be right haha and googled it a couple years later.
For those who know, fed is more than tennis himself😅.. Even he don't have the most GS record, he is definitely very likeable everywhere he appears, so Uniqlo knew about it !
The first tennis match i remember watching as a child was Federer vs Sampras at Wimbledon 2001. I was riveted and i've been a fan ever since. Federer to me will always be the best to ever play even though Novak has now surpassed him with titles.
You’d think they would have made lifestyle shoes inspired by what Nadal, Federer and Serena played in to keep those brands alive. As a tennis player, I would def buy RF gear if they still made it (even if it does look a bit cheesy I don’t care lol). That said… Uniqlo doesn’t even seem to make any RF stuff at all even though they have the contract!
It’s crazy how Nike has gone away from tennis and yet they still managed to land Alcaraz and Sinner. It’s unfortunate though because the kits they’ve been giving to Alcaraz lately have been absolutely horrendous. Tiafoe and Sinner get better treatment from the brand
I think they choose the kits from a line up and Carlos probably has first or second choice, so it might in part be due to his taste but mostly nike not making kits that are very good.
The first time I tried a pair of ON shoes on I purchased them right away. I won't lie, the sticker shock at the till hit me a bit as I had not even looked at the price as they felt so good. Four years later I still have those shoes in my garage as my mowing/gardening shoes with not a stitch out of place just the soles worn and a little spring lost. My second pair are two years old and still going strong. My next shoes will be ON and I'll just end up with a collection of expensive (but exceptionally well made) mowing shoes😂. I figure that for 2 years of exceptional performance, before retiring, ON shoes are very good value.
Those are reasons why Nike lost so much of its value. RF and TW were flagship, people didn't necessarily buy Nike tennis or golf , but they did buy some products, because of it's awareness. Greed as usual brought Nike, together with trying online nonsense to cut middlemen, to just another brand, and that We all know is a war, where Nike is losing big time!
Nike people seem to be spending only on running (Olympic sport),the USA universitas and the team sports only when players get a deal with Nike if they even get a deal with Nike, some get paid enough in the sport by a league or other sponsors they are in they will use Nike becuse of having to use in Universities in the USA.
If I were Nike exec, I'd say hell no too. 3x 10 years pay when age 37? I doubt Uniqlo got its money's worth, never seen anyone wearing Uniqlo in courts.

We need more of these deep dives into business side of tennis. Very good video!
this was not a deep dive it just says we don't know what the discussion was like that made them part ways
Absolutely
Kinda crazy how much money Uniqlo offered him for a 10 year contract at the age of nearly 37 already 😂
Uniqlos awesome
I always thought it was uni of qld

Roger is the epitome of class. That will not diminish even after his retirement from tennis. The perfect endorser.

Yep, and I think Jannik Sinner should use his fox logo to start his own sportswear company rather than handing it over to Nike.
100%, he created his trademark and can't let it fall into corporate hands, unless he's the one heading said corporation of course.
He doesn't own that logo. In all honesty, he probably doesn't even own the rights to his own image.
@@CHillTennisEntertainmentGood point
sinner isnt a business man and at the moment seems like he couldnt care less about that side of his career. Good for him
Is that the famous Clostebol fox?
They did not understand his value. 10 million was too low.
Nike made a huge mistake. And made a lot others, it's no suprise the company is in decline.

Noah you are in a league of your own, the best sports Chanel, I say it again not tennis channel SPORTS channel
This was a great video. Great job!
Nike also gave up Sampras (over Agassi).
Nike stopped with Tiger Woods as well, which is crazy imo
and went on his own a bit like Federer
Tiger blotted his copy book more than once and that is why Nike dispensed with his services.
We need more videos like this pls

I don’t think Messi and adidas made magic

I enjoy Uniqlo clothing, but this video now makes me want to get some clothing in the RF collection of Uniqlo XD
Are you going to make a video about rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz?
it's only been one year. give it time. Sinner wasn't a factor at the majors until 2024
@@BOZ_11 I thought, now, when Sinner had a year like this and Alcaraz has some ups and downs.
@@user_amle Even with Carlos's up's and down, he's not a one surface wonder, like Sinner (currently, anyway)

Federer was NEVER known for Fashion and Style - thats what his sponsors wanted him to be like.
It is amazing how no one mentions on how the narrator advertises his sponsored crocodile brand!
Lacoste?
I remember Federer ditching Nike for uniqlo
Partially sounded like an “on” ad
Best decision Roger Federer ever Made Ditching Nike!

Mirka insists that Roger is interested in quality .
Strange seeing Roger with the frosted blonde hair.
This video is unstoppable
And most of all - it is the same insane quality / depth, now on financial topic! It deserves that "sponsor button" smash, like no other channel.

Whenever is responsible at Nike for letting Federer go, should be sent to prison for life.
I have never heard of uniqlo before😮😮
Most new Nike Tennis Outfits looks garbage tbh.. On´s kits looks so smooth
So does NB current sets that are the same performance models used for golf becuse the clothes are made that sports performance oriented.
Somehow I feel he jinxed himself by ditching Nike. Would have one 1-2 more slams for sure with Nike 😅

nice video keep it up
don't do it
I am not going to buy uniqlo even if god endorses it! Not leaving Nike!
