This movie was such a significant technical achievement when it was released. It was the first ever full-length, fully computer-made movie. Technology made for this movie is still around in both the movie and games industry today.
The best 'kids' movies are the ones that also appeal to adults. Toy Story has the fun and imagination of childhood combined with a very intelligent and well written script. Add to that great voice casting and acting as well as fantastic animation. Before this movie, there'd been nothing like it. It's also so easy to identify with the toys' personalities as well as the different humans in the story. Who didn't know a "Sid" when they were growing up? Or the wonderful escapes into our imaginations?
Toy Story 2 is just as much fun 😁♥
Yeah I enjoyed this movie soo much as a kid and rewatching now I still feel the same way due to how well written it was.
Something I find is a bit of an overlooked tragedy in this movie is Sid himself... He is a very clear case of a very obviously SMART kid whose parents didn't know what to do with him, so they settled on flat out neglect. He doesn't just have a lot of tools a kid his age shouldn't really have free access to, and not only does he know how to use them, he (mostly) knows how to use them SAFELY. Remember, as far as he's aware, the toys are just inanimate objects, so there's no reason to believe that any kind of safety measures should have to apply to them. At his apparent age, he's knowledgeable and skilled enough to be in some college courses.
Instead, as I believe you've already found out from the later movies (so this isn't a spoiler), he becomes a garbage man. No hate at all to people in that profession, it's very respectable even if mainly because of how few people would want to do it. You wouldn't expect to personally change the world or anything as a garbage man, but this kid had the IQ to do that. Instead, due to neglectful parenting, he wound up being a villain to a bunch of toys he didn't even know had the awareness to see him as such, and thus had to be traumatized and thus seemingly never even tried to reach for whatever wild potential he might have had.
To be fair, that doesn't mean the toys SHOULDN'T have done that. The neglect was there one way or another, so by this point he may already be too far gone to ever become a great scientist/engineer or something like that. The toys traumatizing him at this stage might well have simply prevented him from going the "serial killer" route. 🤷♀
Aria, there was a cartoon called Doc McStuffins, about a little girl who dreamed of being a doctor like her mother, so she would practice by fixing up her dolls and stuffed animals..who would of course come to life. It ran on and off for 5 seasons between 2012 and 2020.

Minnie is back!
This was Pixar's first film and it was THE first fully computer animated full-length feature film. It was the 2nd highest grossing film of 1995. It was nominated for 3 Oscars - Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song, and Special Achievement Award. I could be wrong, but I believe it started the trend of having an ensemble of A-listers voicing almost every role (although Lion King had quite a few).

"Toy Story 2" is pretty good and I think you will enjoy it. Next try "Monsters Inc." It's lots of fun, very well animated and quite witty.

In the mid-'80's, there was a cartoon TV series called _Transformers._ This was the basis for the recent series of _Transformers_ _movies._ Hasbro made action figures for _each_ of them; _transforming_ action figures. Initially, in _one_ mode, they were _vehicles_ (or _other_ household objects), while in _another,_ they were _robots._
And they did a _lot_ of cool, innovative _things_ with 'em. There were _dinobots_ who could transform back and forth between _dinosaurs_ and robots, there were _insecticons_ who could transform back and forth between large _insects_ and robots, there were _constructicons_ who could transform specifically between different pieces of _construction_ heavy equipment and robots (but which could also be assembled into a huge, fighting robot), _aerialbots_ who could transform back and forth between a few types of _jets_ and robots (but who could also be assembled into _another_ huge, fighting robot)...
But I would have to say the one I remember _most_ fondly was the Autobot _leader,_ Optimus Prime. He would transform back and forth between the truck unit of a tractor-trailer and a robot.
I remember, somewhere along the line, I managed to break off one of his _legs_ and _that_ was unfortunate. We glued it back on, but it never fit quite the same way.
And, somewhere along the line, I lost _track_ of him. At the _time,_ that disappointed me, just because he was a fun _toy_ I didn't get to play with anymore. _Nowadays,_ though, I regret it because _nowadays,_ that action figure would probably be worth something to the _collectors_ out there. I mean they've reissued that toy, so you can buy it _again,_ but it's not the same. The new ones are just not the same.
I definitely recommend watching the rest of the Toy Story Movies. You will Grow to Love these characters. ❤❤❤

Bo Peep, I think, was a character written in because Pixar didn't manage to get the rights to _Barbie._ If they had, _she_ would've been Woody's love interest.

Pixar is full of great movies. You should absolutely watch Toy Story 2 and 3, they are just as good as the first and in some ways better than the first. The forth is good too. Monsters Inc is also one of my favorites

Aria, Tim Allen's voice work as Buzz Lightyear led to him being cast as a William Shatner-esque space captain in the Star Trek spoof "Galaxy Quest", which pokes fun both at the series and at the fandom. I highly recommend reacting to that eventually. That movie was hilarious when I was a kid and it's even funnier now as an adult.
It also stars Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and a young Sam Rockwell in a hilarious role as a cowardly Trekkie type character.
By the way, Aria, you look even prettier than usual in this video. 🖤

Please consider watching Toy Story 2 and 3. The reason this is one of the best Pixar movies is because it's all a metaphor. The toys are supposed to be a metaphor for the parents and how kids won't always keep you as their favorite despite how much you love them but that doesn't mean they will ever stop loving you.

the first computer animated movie to be made, Pixar initially intended for Woody to be the villain of this movie but decided to have it be that Woody was just having trouble getting used to Buzz being the new toy that Andy is fascinated with.
Thank god they didn't turn him into a full on villain
