I've had the lousy experience of visiting someone at Riker's. It's hard to tell if the unpleasantness she's expressing has to do with visiting someone you love in lockup, or the incredibly dehumanizing process that happens first. They treat visitors like criminals. It isn't surprising to me she wants to protect herself from those thoughts.

Yeah except she is lying and the timelines don’t add up. While Tupac was in Rikers she was just starting to date Will and Tupac was engaged. His girl literally moved to be closer and actually was a signed in visitor every day he was in there. That was proven. Jaida is a compulsive liar and she is trying to use Tupac’s name to give her cred.

When Jada speaks about Tupac having charisma and courage, she says “It’s not a lot of people that have that kind of charisma and courage to just come up on me…” so she’s complementing herself as well as him, by basically saying she was so beautiful, intimidating or unattainable (or whatever it is she thinks of herself) that it took courage for him to even approach her. She may truly idolize Tupac in her memories but she also idolizes herself.

Has anyone actually read WILL’s book? Because even he says that Jada wasn’t interested in him to begin with and it comes across like she never was. (And still isn’t IMO) The way Will puts it makes it sound like Jada was contemptuous and derogatory towards him when they first met and he talks about other things that have happened throughout their relationship that reiterate that. Will was the one pursuing Jada. She never wanted him. In my opinion, Jada started dating Will to try to make Tupac jealous and after he died she took advantage of Will’s infatuation and has been using him ever since. She doesn’t love him. She loves what he provides for her and she knows she’ll never do any better.

  • @hlu777
    @hlu777 Рік тому +190

I feel like the other aspect of Tupac is that she's placed him on this huge golden pedestal of perfection, which isn't uncommon, & because he died young, suddenly & unexpectedly he never had a chance to "fall from grace" in her eyes. He didn't live long enough to hurt her, break her heart, or disappoint her.
As time goes on, the more we forget any of the "bad stuff" and the more perfect the deceased person on the pedestal becomes. No one can possibly compete with Golden Pedestal Tupac. All others will pale in comparison because he can, quite literally, do no wrong.
I'm not saying I blame her. It's very common. Only that, that might also explain why she's SO expressive, mind blown & enamored with him, but less so Will. If roles were reversed, no doubt Will would have been Golden Pedestal Man. It's just an unhealthy expectation that all living men will fall short of in comparison. I'm not saying that's necessarily what she's doing, just that it might explain why she's still so enamored with him & their relationship, whereas Will clearly pales in comparison.

Here's the thing about mental illness... We dont filter information the same way as the average brain and I have this growing sense that JPS stayed stuck in her teenager self and has progressively idealized her relationship with TS to the point that she's made it this fantasy which only grows in embellishments the more she retells her story. At the same time, she never skips a beat in making sure everyone knows that WS is not her ideal partner... She wanted the gangster, street smarts, charismatic, larger than life personality that was TS. She wanted to be written into his legacy and because she didn't accomplish it during HIS LIFE she's attempting to rewrite the story AFTER DEATH because the poor man cannot defend himself. Im also surprised that Tupac doesnt have friends or family from that era or even other women that could maybe shed more light into their true friendship. We already know JPS is a pathological liar... But it would be delicious if someone came out with receipts to put that woman in her place once and for all.

The other woman in the photo, her friend Maxine, took her own life shortly after as well. So seeing that photo and remembering that time is probably VERY real for her (which Spidey expertly pointed out). Then you add not being on good terms when Pac passed, there's a lot to process. I think I can speak on long term grief. My dad passed suddenly 2 weeks before my 14th birthday (just to give an idea of where I was at in my mental and emotional development) and it actually stunted my emotional growth for a few years. No one will ever take my dad’s place, he was and still is my dad. I’m 25 now and i still feel that way. Yes I have other strong male figures in my life, but no one will ever be my dad again.
My mom has dated since my dad’s passing but she still considers herself married since they never fell out of love, and in her words she had a perfect marriage why would she mess with a perfect record. She had to tell her ex’s that they need to stop comparing themselves to my dad because they were in love when he died. She never stopped loving him and he never stopped loving her. It was an accident. It’s hard to be with someone whose greatest love died suddenly, you think about the living differently than you do the dead. The dead can’t do anything it’s only the memories, someone who is living can annoy you and irritate you one moment and make you happy the next.
It’s hard to think about the hardships with my dad, I was a teenage girl with overwhelming anxiety who was being bullied at school. I wasn’t the prefect daughter and there are no more next times. I didn’t say I loved my dad the night before he passed and I now refuse to go to bed before saying it to my loved ones. Grief changes you, and it impacts you in ways you don’t even think about, I still struggle to think about that last night I saw my dad, because I can’t go back and say the things I would now.
But I can tell you my dad was annoying, I love him so much but he was an utter dork and would do things to embarrass his teenage daughter and that very much included talking in his hyper thick québécois English accent to my friends who tried so hard to understand him, he would call out very loudly that he loved me when he would drop me off or he would just be a dad. I can think about that now but I don’t think about it like I did back then. I’m not annoyed at my dad right now. I just miss him and love him. Again it’s that grief you cant be annoyed at someone who hasn’t annoyed you in years because they just aren’t there but I can currently be annoyed at my cat who made me walk around the house just to brush him because he can’t sit still.

That’s a very cruel thing to keep saying about her marriage to Will in public over and over, that she really didn’t want to be with him. That’s what strikes me about Jada..she is exceptionally cruel to Will Smith. He’s not blameless, but I think she delights in seeing him hurt. Will is depressed. He’s beaten down. It’s a different form of a classic abusive marriage, only society assigns more shame to the man when he’s the one that is psychologically abused. Burns me up. Will made a HUGE mistake at the Oscars, and he’s paying for it as he should, but Jada was the entire catalyst for what happened. I think it delighted her, what happened, with no thought given to just how much it hurt Will’s career, reputation, his heart, and even his relationships with his professional peers, including Chris Rock and his family. Jada doesn’t appear to care. Either that or she’s just completely self-absorbed and doesn’t see how she comes off.

A lot of times the people who emphasise how attracted they are to someone's InTeLlEcT (🙄) are just trying to seem smart themselves. Just as with the "he was brave enough to walk up to ME", she's complimenting herself by complimenting someone else. I can't imagine wasting almost 30 years of my life on a dead man who didn't love me like that.
Let's not forget that Jada's obsession with Tupac is one sided. He friend zoned her & married his actual girlfriend right after he got out of Rikers. Jada was hanging out in LA with Will.... probably trying to make Tupac jealous since it's that girlfriend that he asked to marry him right before he went to Rikers for 30 days, not Jada.

I thought the “like breaking up with a boyfriend” meant “he obviously had not had sufficient time to process the end of that marriage when he called me to begin dating, and so he brought (and I naively let him bring) unresolved issues into our relationship right at its foundation. And these issues have played themselves out throughout our time together.”

Thank you Spidey, for sharing your thoughts and insights. I appreciate your compassion and critical thinking. Jada wrote that in her earlier life she never wanted to appear vulnerable so you’re right about that. Before Tupac died, he and Jada had an argument and never made up. She met him in high school when he was dirt poor (with barely any clothing) so she bought him clothes and devised ways to give them to him in such a way that allowed him to accept her gifts without embarrassment. Later, when she needed help he was there for her, so they formed a huge bond. Her comment about how we wouldn’t care about some beefs etc. we have on our deathbed helped me too. I doubt if a narcissist would have the ability to be such a deep thinker.

Another great analysis, Spidey. The last clip says to me she feels she will be thinking about Tupac on her deathbed or that was something she told Will regarding their relationship and his ambition which seems to be too big for her. When she says he didn't seem "deep" enough in the beginning. That's just because he was youthfully joyful while she had lived all that deep unhappy emotion with Tupac which seemed to her the sense of living and shook her to the core. Also, the emotion she feels when she talks about visiting him in jail. It seems to me she feels guilty about leaving him there in such a state and going for something better with Will. She decided to go for the material wealth she felt she could have with Will but at the same time she started hating him for having all the success also because he had it without much of her help and that didn't provide her with the feeling of importance which potentially drove her to her depression and suicidal thoughts around the age of 40.

Hey Spidey, thank you for this video and for always reminding us to be kind. I went from being a fan of Jada to not liking a lot of the stuff she's done but one thing I feel we cannot deny is that what she felt there was real grief. Tupac is the one that got away for her, she's looking back fondly at the memories while I feel that with Will the reason she doesn't do that is because he's still alive and well.
We as human tend to suddenly romanticizes those that have passed away, there is no negative points or flaw, maybe that's why we say "Don't speak ill of the dead." I felt sympathy for her and appreciated the fact that the interviewer held space by hugging her and in a way blocking her from the camera so that she could have her moment to grief for what she's lost.

I haven't watched this video yet, but I did just finish the Dear Mama documentary because I didn't know that much about Tupac - there was no mention about Jada being a significant person in Tupac's life. So I don't really know exactly what their relationship was other that what Jada says.
But speaking of very interesting body language and use of voice and facial expressions, Tupac would be a really good one to study especially in chronological order. I saw his demeanor change from youth to early adulthood pretty drastically (at least in that documentary) almost to where he seemed like 2 totally different people and i have 3 theories as to why. I'd be curious to see your take! Thanks for the videos!!

I dealt with a former celebrity/pro athlete, now has-been, and could compare what you wrote with what I saw in their behavior. They’re delusional and narcissistic. The abuse was off the charts. These people have better social skills to manipulate others because they often have to shift their “vibration” from feeling any shame from their behavior and pathetic lies to match the audience their trying to capture, where the rest of us internalize things, work to be better humans to avoid the “house of cards” disaster when the truth is revealed.

One point about the interview that I find interesting is the way she contrasted the beginning of her relationship with Tupac vs Will. I could say a lot about it, but basically they both approached her boldly. With one she presented it as an example of who he was as a person, how unique and special he was, and with the other it was a strategy that got her interested in him, but it didn't necessarily correlate with impressive character. It comes off like she's saying that Tupac's boldness was more real, more genuine, more innate to his personality than Will's plain old Hollywood hubris.

When Jada starts crying when she sees the photo, I also feel it's genuine, but the reason for these emotions doesn't have to have anything to do with the people in the picture. Maybe she remembers the time and it was all so exciting back then and she was young and her life path was still open... because I find it strange that she puts the photo on the table so quickly with one quick movement. When I see loved ones in a photo, I cherish that photo, that piece of paper. I have the feeling that at that moment she is mourning something else and that she is bitter.

Hi Spidey! I just wanted to tell you I absolutely love your channel. I learn so much! I love how open minded you are with your content as well. I also have watched Stephen on Diary of a CEO as well; he is fantastic! I truly believe when he presented that photo to Jada she was genuine in her reaction. For him to get down and hug her; I think he could tell she was being real. Had she been fake or pretending I don't think Stephen would have bent down to hug her. I don't judge either. I think we all make mistakes and learn from them. I think when you grow up neglected by both Parents and witness things you should not as a child, it creates trauma and you become hyper vigilant. I think Jada didn't feel safe growing up. She didn't know if she would make it day to day or if her Parents would. So I think with Tupac she did love him and he provided her with this love, protection and stability she didn't get from her youth. It is a terrible feeling to not be able to trust and feel happiness in any moment because you are so used to chaos and disorder. You almost become numb to the good and expect only the bad. I think that is because when we intake good it makes us vulnerable and we let our guard down. So keeping your guard up protects you but you also don't let people in. I know this all too well! I had to unlearn what I learned by watching my incompetent Parents. Thank God for Cognitive behavioral therapy! If not I would have never learned to self regulate my emotions and stayed blinded by horrible cognitive distortions. Circling back to Jada, I truly think she will need to be in a relationship that provides a very high level of security and protection. I think that is why Will hit Chris Rick. I am sure Jada probably has said to him, well Tupac would have had my back. She needs a man that will have her back bc growing up no one did. It's one of the very reasons I have been married to my husband of 30 years. I never felt safe as a child or teen. But when I met my husband in high school I did. He was kind, assertive and very protective. I needed that to help me learn to trust and believe that people are good. Thank you Spidey!! I look forward to watching you and Rob tonight! God bless!😊

Not trying to say anything bad when I say this, but I think Stephen (Diary of a CEO) hugged her not only because she was being real, but he also was aware of the position he put her in. That picture isn't just a pic of her last time with Tupac...the other woman in the photo (her good friend Maxine) took her own life not too long after as well. It's hard to present that photo to someone unexpectedly and it not be triggering, and Stephene mentioned Maxine's name so he was aware. Not to argue whether he should have showed the photo or not, but he seems like a solid dude, so I wouldn't be surprised if he felt some sense of personal responsibility to be sensitive to Jada's state in that moment in addition to empathy for the pain itself.
