  • Gators, gators, gators! Canoe/kayak, bike, horseback, hike, see over 60 gators in Florida’s first state-designated wild and scenic river park (see more info/links; pros/cons below)
    We stayed for 2 weeks at the full hoop up campground (PR). Unfortunately, many concessions/boardwalks were closed in March 2023 (low river & hurricane damage). But we still were able to enjoy the wildlife - gators, turtles, rosette Spoonbills - & sunsets; hiking/biking; birdwatching; star gazing;
    In this video, we share a glimpse of the fun stuff, but show /mark every single site in full video tour (NOT just Pictures strung together) & the amenities. See chapters for specific campgrounds/sites/amenities)

    Loved it there! Stayed in Big Flats both times. Yes, indeed, a gazillion GATORS! Tilapia fishing was incredible but you have to reel'em in FAST before the gators grab'em. Some great bicycling/hiking trails all around. Went for a long kayak paddle around the entire lake. At one spot way in the rear so many huge gators running into the water as I passed by my kayak was rolling wildly.

      Awesome. We loved camping at Myakka with so much to do right in the campground
      We didn’t get a chance for any paddling. Maybe next time.

      @DownsizingMakesCents yes, as long as it doesn't take away from the wild beauty. I'm not a big bike rider. We walk around a bit, picnic a lot, and sometimes camp with a tent.

      Hope you have fun. Some things are closed.
      And if you bike in the park in the main road, be careful - cars were aggressive
      And thank you.

    Looks like a very nice campground. Did not look to crowded either which surprised me. Plus I know you are close to all sorts of stuff with that location. Look like it has some nice trails to. Plus all sorts of gators. Hope y'all had a great time here.

      The loop we were in was nice. Very dog friendly
      It was so hot - we didn’t hike too much.
      And a bunch of stuff was closed.
      But we liked it better than Collier Seminole for sure
      Wish it was cooler. But we did sit still for two weeks 🤗

    This is a great park. I especially liked the road for biking and the hiking. I hiked to the alligator lake across the road. That was awesome. We camped in I believe Old Prairie and our spot was next to the camp host. We did have a sewer hookup on our sight like the host, but he advised to use it sparingly! When I looked into the pipe, I could see water, so it would have been a no-go to dump!

    • @DownsizingMakesCents
      @DownsizingMakesCents  Рік тому

      Wow. Maybe an old sewer hookup.
      But the newest campground Loop had lots of room, privacy greenery and full hookups.
      Deep Hole was a big hike. We are going to do a second video about all the biking and hiking, and such that we did there. 🤗

  • @vanbrendle
    @vanbrendle Рік тому +1

    We have stayed their several times. The Palmetto Ridge is the best loop with full hookups. We took the trail ride and enjoyed the airboat tour which has since changed. Many good trails for hiking. The beautiful beaches are only 11 or so miles away. The park can and does flood at times. AT&T coverage was poor at best.

    • @DownsizingMakesCents
      @DownsizingMakesCents  Рік тому

      Unfortunately, we could only get an ADA site - big but it has its drawbacks.
      The river was low and some things were closed due to hurricane damage.
      We have Starlink - canceled our ATT
      We will have a part 2 all about the fun stuff 🤗

    Awesome video and with one of my all time favorite songs since following UA-cam rv channels and the only place I can find it. “River’s Gonna Cry When you’re gone” by Loving Caliber. I can’t believe I still can’t buy it on iTunes. And I don’t have an Epidemic Sound account…Yet! Thank you and safe travels.👍🏼😎

      It’s a great song - and seemed to fit.
      Sorry you can’t get it anywhere.
      We love our Epidemic Sound. We have so many great songs.
      Thanks for appreciating our videos 🤗
