Welcome back to another Nightwish Wednesday! Today we listen to one of my favorites, I Want My Tears Back! While I've listened to this song before, it's fun to watch a new (to me) performance of this song. I get to notice or focus on things I didn't in previous ones - this time it was the crowd that really caught my attention. 👏🏻

Hi Nikki; Excellent reaction/analysis! What the crowd cheered before starting the song is an adaptation of a typical encouragement chant from a soccer field; in this case replacing the team name with "Nightwish" and that translated into English would be something similar to this: 🔊🎵🎵🎵OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ, OLÉ OLE OLÉ OLÁÁÁ... OLÉ OLÉ OLÉ, EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU MORE; I AM FROM "NIGHTWISH", IT'S A FEELING...I CAN'T STOP🎶🎶🎶🕪

Maybe the most fun version of this song with Floor dancing all over the stage, and that South American crowd. 🤘🤘. Yes, Troy is still with them, he has taken over some of Marko's vocal lines, including most of his in this song.
You won't see Nightwish on tour any time soon. The 10th album is due out this year, NW announced they won't tour for the record. We are hoping that means not touring right away and that we might see them out in 2025.

This is the reason, why we go to Concerts, sure its nice to sit at home and listen to your favorite music, but being there interact with the Band,, other Fans, and just the feeling of being part of something bigger.
Its the same feeling that sports fans, gets when get to the Stadium and gather with other Fans.
Oh btw. this is the reason we say that South American fans are on another level.

Just a really fun song. Floor loves to dance around and sometimes tries to get Emppu to dance with her. He usually runs away to hide near Tuomas. He is to shy to dance. Only Marko is gone from the band. The new drummer, Kai Hahto was in this one. Yes, we all miss Marko and his larger than life personality. However, you need to check out some of the new stuff with the new bassist Jukka. He is a great bassist and Troy does a very good job of covering some of Marko's vocal parts. You will see they are still amazing. Still 8 songs to go on this show.
I think he hides because Floor is a big woman, and he doesn't want to get accidently run over by her as she enthusically dances around.

Hey Nikki, the Argentinians are known for being extra supportive. TW and Epica say the same and love playing there. I always enjoy this version of "i Want My Tears Back" - so much energy, the wonderful 3-harmonies (Floor, Marco and Troy) Emppu huge smile, Floor dancing and jumping back to singing without being breathless! I would not expect NW concerts anytime soon. Floor is back on the road (solo concerts in NL) but word is that Tuomas and Johanna are trying to start a family. I am going to Finland shortly to a show with Kai Hatho (NW and Wintersun dummer) - we probably can get him to give us a hint ;o) Also, when the new NW album will be released.

Great reaction! When I saw them live in Boston in 2022 it was amazing. Even with a much smaller crowd and very minimal stage production the energy from teh band and the fans was incredible. Best concert of my life. I do hope they tour again someday. I would love to travel to Finland and see them in Tampere or Kitee, just to see their huge stage production and be in a huge crowd of fantastic fans.
The drummer is Kai who you can see in this video, as for seeing them live I am afraid you will have to wait a while as they are having an indefinite hiatus. They are not going on the road/touring to promote their new album which I believe will be out later this year. Floor is going to do solo dates but they are all in the Netherlands as far as I know, which is understandable with her new daughter. When you think how much they have all been on the road over the last few years they deserve a rest. They haven't said they will never tour again but it could be a year or two before they do but keep an eye on their website is my best advice.
And we can always hope that they will still do a few random concerts 😁🤞

I'll be damned the disorderly fans actually obeyed her. That's a huge accomplishment in South America"

Jukka is not a substitute for Marco in the vocals, but Troy has taken some of that load and Floor has incorporated some. It's not the same though

Unfortunately, Nightwish will not be touring this year... but they have announced a new studio album will be out in 2024.
Floor Jansen might be going shows on her solo record... U just missed original Nightwish singer Tarja doing a solo US tour in 2023.
Currently, Nightwish is still - Tuomas (keyboards), Emppu (guitar), Troy Donockley (pipes/ mandolin/ flute/ guitar/ backing vocals), Kai Hahto (drums), Floor Jansen (lead vocals) and Jukka Koskinen (bass)
Argentina crowds are infamous for being the best concert crowds EVER. Every musician says the same thing. They were amazing at The Warning's first time ever concert there.

There's a reason why this one has remained on their setlist. Not that every crowd is like the fantastic Argentina crowd, but this is always a fun, party song to do live.
2:10 "Floor did a little dance.." That's probably the version where the Dutch Dance Monster is hunting Emppus (Hartwall Arena 15.12.2018). Rumour has it that at NW's 30yr Anniversary Concert, he'll give up running from a dance with Floor to finally show us his moves 😂 Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘
Hi Nikki, so it seems I assumed prematurely. Check out this one, since it's hilarious. Emppu is known for his expert skills in ducking from a dance with Floor but one day she'll corner him. At their Ziggo Dome concert in Amsterdam, Nov 2022 Jukka the bass player already showed off his moves. Emppu's still on the run tho. So here goes: "Nightwish - I Want My Tears Back - Helsinki 15.12.2018 @ Hartwall Arena". Enjoy!

9:45 No, the drummer is still the same as in this video - Kai Hahto. And Troy, who is still in the band, is now singing Markio's parts in this song. Unfortunately, Nightwish will not be touring with the new album, which is expected to be released later this year - and according to their statement, it is not even clear if they will ever tour again. So I'm afraid it's going to be a few more years before you might have a chance to see them live. :(

Hi, Nikki. If you want to experience even more South American fans in action, I heartily recommend the "RUSH In Rio" performance of "YYZ". In that one, it's an entire soccer stadium of fans. What makes it even more special is that they sing along to an instrumental!
Sadly, you'll have to wait before you can see them live, since they announced that they would not tour to support the Album expected to be released this year.
And yes, Troy is still part of the band, but Marko isn't anymore (replaced by Jukka "Jukkis" Koskinen from Wintersun and Crownshift, who has been confirmed as a permanent member a few months back)

It’s hard to believe you haven’t watched or listened to every Nightwish song by now when you’re not doing videos. I had this song on repeat in my car for a few days, it’s so catchy and addictive. Nightwish released a statement about touring for their upcoming album and unfortunately have no plans to tour for it. Hopefully they change their mind. I only saw them once two years ago and would love to see them again.
With a band size of Nightwish those tours aee booked a year or two before showtime.
I have been to Judas Priest and Mega Death a long time ago....and the crowd was crazy! Same when I went to see the Rolling Stones in the 1990's. There was 62000 in attendance... outdoors in the middle of December!
Troy is still there with the band. Marko has his own band.
South American crowds in general and especially Argentinian crowd have historically been crazy and hyper engaged with the bands.
Crowds in North America can definitely be loud but generally more reserved with the exception of Mexico to some extent.

Nightwish Drummers: Jukka Nevalainen 1996 - 2014, Kai Hahto 2015 -> Present, so yes the Drummer is still the same from this video and already from the Wembley Concert 2015 videos. Jukka Nevalainen was the Drummer in Wacken 2013 Concert. And yes Troy is still in Nightwish, been official member since the same time 2014 as Floor was made official member too, but already on 2007 Dark Passion Play and 2011 Imaginaerum Albums he played as guest musician the whistles and pipes.

It would be very interesting what your thoughts about these are… you could start with the history where Floor joins the band first time: Learn the setlist within 48 hours (ua-cam.com/video/vhExkmWKMEU/v-deo.htmlsi=BgLJyvGv3hLpz6ZO). Because it’s a long one, you could cut it into pieces… it’s a lot in Finnish but all with English subtitles… that would be great. ‼️🏆👍
