  • In this video I'm going to show you quickly how to easily make "kokkaffe" - a type of coffee which is made by boiling coffee and water together.
This type of coffee is most common in Sweden and some parts of Finland. You need to use a very coarsely ground coffee and the result is a smooth, easy-drinking coffee which doesn't have any of the greasiness that you often find with French-press style coffee.

Any kitchen store should have them - stores like Clas Ohlsson too, and probably large supermarkets :)

Anyone know where to get a stovetop pot like that in the US? Can you get them online? Ikea?

I heard that old traditional Swedish coffee is with whole egg. I can't imagine it, but would like to taste it. :)

ik this comment is several years old, but I'll respond: this egg coffee variant is good (I've tried), but it's not known in mainland Sweden. It comes from the US Lutheran midwest, probably from Swedish and Norwegian immigrants.

You should never boil the water with the coffee. Boil the water and put the coffee first and then pour the water slowly. Let it sit for 5 minutes and pour.

Yeah, er...no. You do that you'll end up with flavourless brown water. Literally everyone I know making kokkaffe makes it this way and Löfbergs even says this is the correct way, so, y'know, since they're a giant coffee company I think you can trust them: www.lofbergs.se/fragor-och-svar/faq/hur-kokar-man-kaffe/
"Kokkaffe är en grov malning som lämpar sig för beredning i kaffepanna. När man ”kokar” kaffe doserar man de malda kaffebönorna direkt i en kaffepanna med kallt, friskt vatten. Kaffet ska sedan endast sjuda upp utan att koka och därefter stå och dra i ca 5 minuter"
No, you should not boil the coffee, but the coffee must cook with the water.

It's absolutely possible to do that way but the coffee gets bitter If it's boiling. It's possible to do both ways but I think mine is less risky 😊

~12g kaffe på 1,5dl vatten som får koka ordentligt i ungefär 10 sekunder, dra ett par minuter och sen värmas på litegrann sen i med sump och allt i koppen. Perfekt kaffe.

just add 6 scoops of unknown ammount to 1L water

The scoops are coffee scoops. As it says in video 48g coffee for 1L water.
On the scoop shown in the beginning it says ”1 scoop = 8g coffee”.
      A coffee scoop is 20ml… so about 1 table spoon (15ml) + 1 tea spoon (5ml).
