Using the speedy MU for raids (the priest empowering obelisk LOS was very smart) and weakening the opponent while having a super fortified base preventing any strong push and allowing him to jump through ages on 1 TC. Whats the upside to Egyptians in general that make up for their differences? Your laborers produce less on average than villagers even with good pharaoh micro. You deplete on gold faster as well. I hear people say that mighdol units are the good thing about Egypt except they all count as cavalry so prodromos counters them.
At least in legacy the good thing was that you get a lot of free buildings and free tower upgrade. Also their buildings are strong and good defense. Also with Set/Isis you were able to have very strong wood/gold army compositions with chariot archers, priests, scorpions and siege towers as meat shields while leaving the food mostly for village production and booming. Then like other civs they have a lot of potentially strong specific strategies. This one we saw here for example, or the slinger electron bullets spam, also ive seen very strong anubite raids. I think the potential for each god/civ in retold is yet to be seen, players are discovering new and op strategies every day which makes the game so intresting. Ra for example was considered to be weak recently and k now im seeing a lot of players using this god and performing really well.
