    In this video I’m building a deceptively complex daybed. Sometimes the simple looking pieces end up being more complex than you think, especially when things like shipping and assembly are taken into consideration. This piece certainly has a simple look, but certainly had its share of tricky aspects. So come along while we journey through a deceptively complex build full of interesting techniques including panel making, domino connecting, slat cutting, polyurethane spraying, and a whole bunch of rocking good times.

    Really impressive build and a very well made Day Bed!
    I'd be worried about the big panels moving if I made a piece like this out of solid timber, and so I'm curious - how much time do you spend selecting timber for furniture projects, so as to ensure you've got the most stable boards?

    • @shaunb66
      @shaunb66 3 роки тому

    I was just wondering, you now have very large panels made out of solid wood, are you not worried that these panels will bow and bend over time?

    I'm curious why you didn't have the back piece inset to the sides so you could hide the festool hardware on the back of the back panel instead of on the inside corners?

    • @shaunb66
      @shaunb66 3 роки тому

      It was the client’s call. The piece is going in the middle of the room, so they were most concerned with the outside of the panels being totally clean.

      This is chris (not Shaun) just looked it up and they are basically the same. That said. I had never heard of Donald Judd... and I don’t think Shaun has either. So I highly doubt Shaun was copying on this design. At the end of the day... they are both pretty uninspired boxes. No offense Shaun and Don. 😜
