What would a Donald Trump win mean for Britain? | LBC analysis

- Andrew Marr talks to former CIA Director, Leon Panetta, to discuss what a potential Donald Trump administration would mean for Britain.
The discussion comes amid Nigel Farage's admission that he won't stand for Reform UK in the upcoming General Election as he's more focused on what's going on in the USA.
Speaking on how a Trump victory could impact Britain, Panetta says: 'He's talked about withdrawing from the world - isolationism doesn't work.'

Yes, the CIA is where we should go for lessons on threats.
The man in this interview clearly does not know the US Constitution!
This sounds like another misrepresentation of Trump's position. Not only so but both Obama and Biden said they would put the UK at the back of the line in trade negotiations, while Trump said the opposite. I think that reflects their respective attitudes.
Is your pants on fire yet? 😊
They did not say that. They said that Brexit would put the UK at the back of the queue. And that is precisely what has happened. Every line that comes out of Trump's mouth is a lie so anything he says can reliably be discounted.
yes if the UK did Brexit. They were right.
David, you are correct. Trump was clear America will not be a sucker, doing for others what they should do for themselves; but never said we would not be with them if they did step forward.
It is true that after the Cold War America did not need Europe as we did previously and should renegotiate in light of the new dangers we both face.
@@dabrack9350 the very prominence of Trump in American discourse means that America is very much a sucker. However I can think of 34 reasons why there is hope for the future.

US would pull out of NATO, the middle east and the pacific. Domestically, it would spell the end of democracy in America, the end of the Republic.
😂😂😂😂 shut up mate he's already been president and the world was 10 times better and he was far more open to work with Britain then Biden who is very anti-britain
@@jamestaylor841Yeah! Biden couldn't be bothered to step out in front of the monarch, or have a giant balloon of himself screaming in a diaper above London, or garner the most names ever submitted to the HP in a Scottish petition to block his visit to the UK
Trump is limited to only one more four year term by virtue of the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution.
@raymondo6665but he clearly doesn't believe in (or understand) the institution or why it exists.
@raymondo6665 Couple issues.
Firstly, 2% of GDP never has, never was, never will be a requirement. It was always a guideline.
Secondly, 18 nations (over half of all NATO states) currently hit or exceed the 2% guideline, or will do in 2024. Thirdly, only **2** states in the entirety of NATO pays less than 1% of defence. That's Luxembourg, who has 900 troops, and Iceland, who has no military. Both nations were invited into NATO, and accepted, by the United States who knew this.
Yes, certain NATO countries 1000% do need to boost their defence spending. Spain and Canada notably so. But reality is, the nations whose defence spending would make a tangible difference to a NATO war effort (i.e. the UK, France, Poland, etc) are meeting or exceeding the 2% guideline. Do you really think there'll be absolutely any difference if Belgium (who has 20,000 troops, and is surrounded by 3 major military powers in the middle of Europe) is spending 1.1% or 2%? No.
The vast majority of nations not spending the 2% guideline either;
a) Have a very small military/nation, so any defence increase would be a negligible difference
b) Are, realistically, not going to be targetted in such a way that'd warrant article 5 and NATO defence.
Panetta is a big part of the Uniparty problem. Another apologist liar.

The UK "created" countries?
Are you talking about the "British Empire" = invading, occupation, so called "colonialism"?
Or are you talking about all those countries, where the UK installed all these artificial borders, when the Osman Empire dissolved, like = Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq...without taking care of the already existing tribal/territorial borders...which is causing problems in those regions until these days?
