Asking the safest Tory seat why they're STILL going to vote Conservative
Вставка

- Castle Point is one of the safest Conservative seats in the country. At the 2019 general election, it got 76.7% of the vote share.
But change is in the air. At the local elections, the blue vote plummeted and the local council was taken over by a coalition of independents. And although the Conservatives are projected to retain their seat here, their majority is expected to be slashed. A Labour MP in Castle Point? Stranger things have happened.

This is why the country's fucked. People give blind loyalty to a party after they've mugged them off for years.
All parties mug us off.
@New-ye2fl So you're going to not vote?
haha this is where the 20% polling numbers are coming from. When you're uneducated your dumb. In first world countries that means electing crooks, in third world countries it means civil war vs crooks.

Similarly the Tory slogan for this election is basically 'Everything is going to plan but vote for us because only we can fix this mess.' It's amazing how stupid some people are. I think the Tories became so hooked on the 'We inherited a mess' 2010 mantra that they can't drop it even 14 years later when now it's their own mess they're talking about.

People who say "they never told us what Brexit would really be like" do my head in. Yes they did! Yes WE did! Millions of people knew it and said it.
Yes, but I also see it from their perspective. I was young at the time but was still pro-remain. I see now that I was right and support stronger ties with the EU. Until the event itself, as I was getting older, I supported a second referendum.
However, fundamentally, you need to understand that there is so much information nowadays. You may have identified that those saying that Brexit is good were lying and that those saying its harms were sensible, but there were people who should be trustworthy on both sides; therefore, that they trusted the liars isn't their fault. Blaming the public isn't the solution here. We need to blame the goddamn liars. It's easy to say that you told them so, but why would they believe you over (very) theoretically trustworthy politicians in government? It's sad but true that basically, you and I just got lucky in identifying the truthful perspective.
You lost, get over it! Remoaners lied their heads off saying Brexit would be a disaster and it hasn't been anything of the sort. It is the EU which is in big trouble with Germany having a very bad time. Last year the UK economy grew faster than Germany and is forecast to grow faster than Germany this year.
Brexit fans got all their info from the Mail, Express and late night GBNews. And Boris. It was all going to be perfect.
@@Tailspin80 Remainers campaigned on lies about Project Fear. They didn't campaign on the so called "benefits" of EU membership, like free movement, because they knew that was a vote loser, so they campaigned on Project Fear instead and then when they lost the referendum, they did their best to sabotage and waterdown Brexit after the referendum result. The public despised Project Fear and the arrogance of remainers that they know better. It must be really galling to remainers that they cannot point to any disasters from leaving the EU and that the UK grew faster than Germany in 2023 and will grow faster than Germany this year. The EU has never been an engine for economic growth and they are beset by divisions and economic difficulties. The EU remains a scerlotic, bureaucratic, undemocratic organisation with a one track mind of an "ever closer union" that bullies member states like Greece, Cyprus. Ireland and Hungary. We are so much better off out than in such a suffocating organisation.

I wonder how many people will read this and believe they’re not the “average voter”
Nothing does ny head in more than people treating political parties like football teams. "I've always voted for them" is probably the worst possible reason to vote
I have voted for the Tories twice and even Brexit. I now have come to regret some of my decisions.
Its so easy to vote along with the views of your family and friends, letting yourself feel entrenched into that idea of one party and can quickly turn into us Vs them.
Now engaged a European since Brexit and reaping what I sowed with Tories, I will be voting labour for the first time and hope they can prove themselves to not be the other side of the same coin.
These people are ridiculous. The sooner this country has proportional representation the better. Boris Johnson is still their poster boy.
TBF, it's a pretty illogical stance for football fans too. Some clubs have had their badge change, manager change, owners change, stadium moved, name changed, players changed... At this point football clubs are basically Triggers Broom.
That’s why we still have a two party de facto system
I have to admit I have only ever voted labour but if I could turn back time I would wish that Blair never got in.
So she voted for Brexit to stop Europeans being able to live and work in the UK, but she didn't realise that leaving the EU would make it difficult for Brits living in Europe? Empire mentality right there!!
She probably read the Leave campaign leaflet, but not the Remain campaign leaflet, due to bias.
Seriously she did say that "we were lied to", but also said "nobody told us what would _really_ happen". There the interviewer should have reminded her about "project fear", she was warned but _she_ chose to listen to those who (she now knows) lied.
Most people rely on a surface glance of the issues. If they're lied to by the media, by politicians, we're screwed. And that happened. I for one blame the snake oil salesmen, not those they ripped off.
In her defence (only very slightly mind) the remain campaign was woeful! I'm a big fan of Corbyn but he dropped the ball with Brexit and didn't pay it anywhere near enough attention. The political class were out of touch with a large part of the electorate and thought Brexit would automatically be rejected.
The cognitive dissonance it must take to call some people moving countries expats and some others immigrants is damn depressing man. Like these people are so bloody stupid, just half of them were luckily born earlier and managed to get on the housing ladder and somehow think it was their hard work.

The tories have put something in the drinking water supply 😂
Immigration is the most important issue to somone who lives in one of the least impacted areas. You can tell who watches Talk TV.. at least she didnt say trans fml.
Same in other high Brexit areas, often have the least immigration
@@richardtuxford1812like Leigh, for example
Most of these people originally came from the East End of London in the last 30 years. They moved away from immigration on purpose. Thats why I always find this to be a slightly skewed point, and its very often areas adjacent to places of high immigration, or rather places with rapidly increasing diversity. In this case, Castle point is not far from Thurrock, with a large black and Eastern European population, and many of its residents moved there from Newham, Ilford, Barking etc.
So they have experienced it and disliked it, and moved to a more "comforting" social bubble. In time they'll move east again to somewhere like Shoeburyness or Burnham, the moment they see an Asian person.
More like a GB News viewer.
@@andrewmark2783 Yes, because the Greater Manchester region has never had any immigration or diversity in the past....🙄
I will give it to the Tories, they've persuaded these working class people to vote for them even though it's harming them.
U think they’re working class? Lmao
Labour have NEVER left office with a lower unemployment rate than when they started - EVER!
and it will be no different this time round if they get in when all the non dom business owners move to France making 1000s of people unemployed
did you think they were for the working party because of their name?

Tony Blair enters 1997 - 7.2% unemployment
Tony Blair 2001 - 5.1% unemployment
Tony Blair 2005 - 4.8% unemployment
Tony Blair 2007 - end of Blair government - 5.4% unemployment
What a really weird point to make by the way, whilst the Conservatives consider people on 0 hour contracts to be employed and more people working 40 hours now living in poverty than ever before. Employment stats arent the be all and end all and even if they were, you're wrong.
These people live under a rock 😂

There are 2 types of tories, billionaires and idiots. They need to check their bank accounts. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. The sheer lack of logic and understanding.
Saying "billionaires" is a bit too exclusive for the UK. We're not the USA and don't actually have all that many of those. Probably something like 150 in total.
Tories traditionally represent anyone with a high five figure income and above. They're the kind of folk who are all getting excited whenever the Tories announce tax cuts that make no difference to the rest of us.
Anyone earning less than something like £70,000 a year and vote Tory...well you're correct there: They're idiots.
Labour voters are bigger idiots sadly. Open borders. 😂

I'm not sure what's worse, the ineptitude of british politicians or the idiotic electorate.
If they vote Tory or Labour,it'll be the idiot electorate.
I suspect quite a few in this comments section will fit that description.

Methinks those two observations not necessarily causally unconnected.
Both. The latter leads to the former.
These must top the lot. Just blindly vote.
do they realise the tories have been in power for the last 14 years?
This link's to people not knowing the difference between labour councils and tory government.
The Govt themselves don't realise so how will they? They look to Labour for ideas. Then pinch them.
and before that we had 14 years of fooking muslim backed labour
They only go by what the mail says!
Actually they’ve governed for 32 of the last 45 years
Dumbest town in the UK 🤦♀️
Hard to believe these people once ruled 1/4 of this planet. 😅
Councils are going broke because Westminster cut government funding to councils.
And to the lady who was talking about council houses, councils can’t build council homes because they have no money.
So why didn't councils build more houses when labour ruled from 1997-2010
@@catscan2022cause there was no money 😂
She’s onto something though. Right to buy should indeed be paused, because it depletes what little housing stock the councils still own
@@TheShortStory Right to buy is good, if for every house sold at a discount to the occupier, another council house is built. Gives people a leg up whilst keeping the ladder there for the next generation. Unfortunately they only decided to do one-half of this policy and leave construction to their private-sector cronies and "housing associations" who bleed off profits.
@@harveytheman7493 of course there was money. They could have sanctioned more social housing if they wanted to. "New" labour chose to give up socialism in favour of liberalism
The lady who is a proud Tory needs to tell people like me who have been disabled by long COVID that Boris did a good job. ‘No one else had to do it so he must have been the best’: that is just plainly stupid.
I’m with you, hope you’re doing ok. if the lockdown hadn’t been postponed, when Boris was advised to do it, I wouldn’t have been disabled by catching the virus pre-vaccine
I always find this “no one else had to deal with something like covid” thing utter nonsense - Every other world leader had to deal with it as well and with the exception of the nutjobs in charge of USA, Russia and Brazil at the time, Boris was the worst!
Boris "let the bodies pile high" Johnson.
If only a pandemic preparedness exercise had been carried out in 2016 and made a bunch of recommendations on what we needed to improve to cope with an actual pandemic... It would be really awkward if the findings weren't actioned upon and were actively withheld from the public for 4 years.
