But she's also a mom to two hungry kids, so the question "What's for dinner?" is never far from her mind -- or theirs, it seems! Her days can get crazy busy (whose don't?), so these videos are all about her favorite fast, fresh meals -- and the tricks she uses to make it all SO much easier.

"I know. I know. I never use a box." Oh, Sarah, that is why I am subscribed to your channel! :) I'm so glad you don't use pre-made mixes. I love baking from scratch! Next you should make banana pudding! :)
same
when we were kids our neighbor's grandaunt would come by once a week and she would make all flavors of pudding from scratch. She always made enough for our parents (who sadly never learned how to cook--but the take-out orders were great too) Thank you Sarah Carey for the memories.
ever since i made my first batch of homemade vanilla pudding, i never went back to boxed pudding. nothing beats pure vanilla. i usually scrape out the seed of 1/2 vanilla pod and add that instead of vanilla extract.
"Don't stop whisking" *Stops whisking* :')

Love this recipe Sarah.......but I would use almond milk if making this for my son, he is allergic to all dairy products. I never want to leave him left out, so I adjust my recipe's accordingly. As always, thanks for sharing.
I can eat a whole pot of homemade pudding all by myself! I know ... I don't make it very often -- lol
So pudding is just a really thick custard?
yup!
No. Custard is made without cornstarch.
@@nohaylamujer Okay, maybe that is what is confusing me here. I kept thinking that cornstarch was only used in more simple, "easy" pudding recipes and there was a classic recipe that didn't use it (hence how I arrived here when searching for "classic vanilla pudding"). But I believe I may be thinking of custard recipes. Because EVERY pudding recipe I can find seems to use cornstarch.
@@dacypher22 That's right. There may be a confusion of terms. Some people call pudding custard and some call custard pudding; and in the UK many people call ALL desserts pudding. But strictly speaking a custard's thickening factor is the yokes, whereas a pudding takes some form of starch. For example, the lemon curd in a lemon meringue pie and the base of most ice-creams are custards.
@@nohaylamujer Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks!
Love it 👍👍
Personally never had vanilla pudding before. Looks great! :)
Making this again 👍
The happiest baker on the internet!

Hmm sort off custard recipe.. I've been using it as a filling on my my cream puffs and it's way too delicious!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Sarah although this video was done 8 years ago, can this recipe be used to do the eclair dessert?
any chance of providing an Amazon link to the all clad pot you use in this video?
Hi, I have a question. I'm making this for my class, and I wanted to know how long you can keep this in the fridge. :)
YUMMY YUMMY...
Can I Use Vanilla Paste .
In other recipes, they had the egg mix separately in a bowl and poured the milk mix gently so it doesn't cook the egg. But you made everything in a pan at once, which I love cause it makes it easier, but how did you prevent the egg from cooking?
Ohhh nevermind, you answered my question in the video. Thank you!
Thanks for making this in one bowl and in such an easy way. I'm mixing mine on the stove while dictating this :-)
I want to use this recipe as pie filling. It's not quite stiff enough for that. How can I make it stiff enough to hold it's shape when sliced? More eggs? Gelatin? Add the whites? More corn starch?
If you were using this pudding in a classic banana pudding trifle with Vanilla wafers, would you fold in whipped cream, or use the pudding the way it is? I plan to use whipped cream as a topping, but was curious about the pudding in the base. Also, is there any difference between this pudding and vanilla pastry cream?
Sarah, can you make Tiramisu some time?
Please, please, please make the volume of your videos higher. I really struggle to listen to your videos while having water boiling.
Absolutely loving you!
All clad !
Can I use vanilla powder instead of extract?
Hi.can you please make a chocolate crinkle video?if u do take requests
Is it like pastry cream?
+Paje Noermont
yes it's in fact pastry cream or creme patissiere. It's the same recipe.
Can I replace heavy cream with regular cream?
holy cow!!! :-)
What is the difference between pudding and custard?
"Pudding it away" lol
What if I want chocolate pudding? Do I just do the same thing and add melted chocolate ?
She said its on the blog if you want a different flavor
sarà ciao, sei formidabile, brava.ti chiedo un favore, metti i sottotitoli degli ingredienti? grazie ciao Rosa
Heavy Cream es crema de leche?
Es crema de leche.

Eso mismo es...
Is cornstarch same as cornflour?
Patty Mananavicphol noooo
completely different cornstarch is really white and not really runny (like flour) but corn flour is much like all purpose flour's consistency i know these words are for liquids but i connect them with solids too
A written list of ingredients shown at the beginning would be so helpful.
the recipe can be easily found at their website, link in description tho
If you dice up some banana's into it it's like a banana pudding.
Now I know why my last attempt to make pudding failed. tablespoons instead of teaspoons.
This pudding is o rich my family can't eat a a lot at once. They eat about 1/4 cup or less and call it done. It's fantastic but you can't eat a lot in one sitting.
I see you read the comments, the waft factor has returned!!
I painted my profile picture
Can you use stevia instead of sugar?
Use a spoon not a wisk, the wisk puts too much air in it for newbies. a wooden spoon is best
You don't look like you like it so much lol
Ashley Smith
I thought the same thing
Wow, looks great. Bill Cosby would be proud............lol.
Eileen LeValley 🤔
(Insert whiny voice here) “But I’m a vegan!!”
Im from indonesia and Oh wow your kind of pudding is really weird to me and not jelly like
Lol . Pudding oversea memang begitu 🙄
This is custard. Pudding doesn’t have eggs.
No skin on my Pudding!!!! 🙅🏻♂️

She's ALWAYS LICKING HER FINGERS and touching the food.
I'm a box person. Too much work to make from scratch for very little benefit.
