"Avatar Aang and Firelord Zuko transformed the Fire Nation Colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and non-benders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony, they named the capital of this great land: Republic City." "As you all know, after the Hundred Year War, Avatar Aang, along with Fire Lord Zuko, stole Earth Empire land and formed the United Republic. Raiko's response should be more drastic that a slap on the wrist and Korra should have actually planned it, but that's the pacing of season 2 for you.
I don't get how these things relate? The issue isn't that Korra is asking one nation to help deal with an internal conflict of another nation. The issue is that she's going directly to the military instead of the elected government.
They relate because Korra does a similar action as the Japanese officers who intervened in the Chinese internal conflict because they both also did it without agreement from their elected officials
I remember when I first watched the episode that I was completely on Mako's side. Regardless of what, Korra and Iroh and the others were planning on committing treason and dragging Republic City into an unrelated war. Had Iroh actually went on the plan, there would have been so many unnecessary deaths on both sides. Mako did nothing wrong.
The statue has three fingers because sokkas gloves only had three fingers, the index and middle finger had its own glove finger and the pinky and ring finger shared a glove finger
To me the Milo part in this episdoe largely marks where he turns from the bumbling doofus into the annoying kid who always wants to be in charge. Not the best change, but at least more character than he had in the beginning of the show. And it fits with his approach to training the recruits in Book 3. He'd actually make for a great villain for a sequel season. The Air Nomads take on the role of a kind of independent police force during Book 4, with Milo pretty invested in it despite his young age. I can imagine him taking over once he's old enough, expanding the force under his strict and methodical rule. At first it all seems to go well, them working with local law enforcement and at request of the Avatar. But as Korra retires and eventually passes away (possibly earlier than most, due to what she's been through), the power starts to go to Milo's head. He sees himself as the "Hand of the Avatar", directly appointed by Korra to help ensure the balance of the world. And now that she's gone, it's on him to enforce that! So bit by bit he refuses to cooperate with local powers when their view on something differs from his, and eventually starts to actively impose his rule over them. His highly trained forces with their extreme maneuverability, unparalleled control over the sky and (introduced bit by bit over the decades) modern weapons pose a threat for even the traditional armies of the big nations and their war machines. While absolutely convinced he's doing the right thing, the old High Admiral Milo of the Air Guardians become an absolutist ruler who keeps chipping away at the other nations - mostly with promises of a better life "in perfect balance with the world, not ruled by the constantly warring nations" /oh the irony), but also with force if need be... As the opposing voice in the Air Nation, Jinora unifies all air benders under her who don't share Milo's extreme views. Her physical body has become old and frail by this point and rests at her home temple, cared for by her most trusted pupils. But her spiritual abilities have only grown over time, to the point where she can project perfect astral representations of herself (or an idealized self anyway) pretty much anywhere she chooses - given she is familiar enough with the place and no one else with their own spiritual training "repels" her. She tries to foster the culture of the Air Nomads as reasonably as they can fit into the modern world, keeping their traditions and values alive. But that's a hard task, since the average population mainly knows air benders from her Brother's forces and so isn't very likely to lend her cause an open ear...
Kora was on the speedboat on the way to the Fire Nation after General Iroh told her she should ask for his mom's (Fire Lord Izumi) support in her civil war.
11:30 I mean, it could be like hell. “Flameo (hotman)!” is like saying “Hell yeah!” while “What the flameo?” is like saying “What the hell?”. I dunno I just can’t get over how “What the flameo?” feels exactly the same as “Erm, what the sigma?”
You must have missed the part where she said she was going to talk to Zuko's daughter to see if she could rally some fire nation support, since the fire nation is now good friends with the avatar
I don't know if Milo's subplot never gets referenced. He kind of becomes obsessed with military and training after this season, and that started with him training the lemurs
Literally right before this video dropped I checked the channel because I thought to myself “it’s been a while since I’ve seen an overanalyzing avatar video”
Raiko is president of the United Republic of Nations, which is an independent nation with Republic City as its capital. The united forces is its military. Also, Korra was heading to the fire nation to seek help from their military.
12:45 Korra is taking a speedboat across the ocean The twins seemed to have driven JET SKIS all the way from the South Pole And these two groups have somehow crossed paths Really makes the world feel microscopic
i wouldnt be surprised if aang revived the use of the slang flameo, but due to modern linguistics more people felt more comfortable using it as a subject than as a greeting. i can almost picture people asking "whats a flameo?", and from there it gradually became disassociated with being a greeting and people just say shit along the lines of what chief beifong says lol
The cut of Korra fire-blasting the spirit only to fail spectacularly and just be dunked underwater was unintentionally hilarious. Great editing as always.
If flameo is now considered an expletive/exclamation and hotman is a term of familiarity or endearment, maybe "flameo hotman" was the equivalent of "shit, bro!"
The United Republic is a 5th nation made from the fire nation colonies that did not wish to rejoin the Earth Kingdom. Republic City is the capital of the United Republic and the United Forces is the military of the United Republic. It is made very clear during season 4 when Kuvira wants to reunite the Earth Kingdom, there's a large territory on the map to the Northwest that is the last to be conquered, so that's when Kuvira starts an actual war.
Also in the third season the Earth Queen declares that "The United Republic IS Earth Kingdom territory!" She accused Zuko and Aang of "taking advantage of [her] father's weakness" in taking the land to create the United Republic, but it was the fallout of the war, built on the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom and became a melting pot of all nations.

Honestly I remember enjoying the lemur plot. However, I think it probably had a lot to do with me disliking the A plot and wishing I could have a pet flying lemur. Definitely substantially better than the normal humor with Tenzin’s children.
As a person named Mako, yes. It’s been ‘Mayko’ my whole life lol! I’ve gotten used to it so I don’t really care too much but when people get it right the first time it’s a nice lil surprise once in a while🤙🏻
I have a REALLY hard time believing that Korra, with her FULLY REALIZED AVATAR STATE, couldn't just "wipe out" Unaloq and his army herself. Since when did the avatar need an army?
I think your analysis of Varrick sums up my thoughts on the entire show "A really good idea in concept but tied to an annoying character for some reason" When I think about Mako and Bolin, they're a good dynamic, the silly one and the overly serious one but they're brothers who love eachother. But then you watch the show and the show doesn't really know what to do with them and they both come across as flat and one dimensional
1:53 The two explosions are completely different though. One is in an enclosed space and came upon Zuko unsuspectingly, Makos is outside so he actually has space to bend the fire away and SAW it coming.
The Republic City arc of season 2 is definitely the worst bit. Not only does everyone act like a complete idiot and are far too hostile towards each other, but absolutely nothing is accomplished after multiple episodes - the president still refuses to send the military to help stop Unalaq.
My theory for Momo's species disappearing is that they relied on the air nomads to survive. Years of living with their tribe of people led them to depend on support, like pidgins. People being absent would devastate their population.
I think that Varric's wackiness is merited, considering he's based around the trope of Eccentric Mid-Century Inventor who isn't actually as smart as they think.

They relate because Korra does a similar action as the Japanese officers who intervened in the Chinese internal conflict because they both also did it without agreement from their elected officials
When the world needed him most he returned
I remember when I first watched the episode that I was completely on Mako's side. Regardless of what, Korra and Iroh and the others were planning on committing treason and dragging Republic City into an unrelated war. Had Iroh actually went on the plan, there would have been so many unnecessary deaths on both sides. Mako did nothing wrong.
It's insanely stupid that a fully realized Avatar is even trying to escalate a war, instead of just beating Unalaq's ass into submission herself
Oh we so back.
Kora was on the speedboat on the way to the Fire Nation after General Iroh told her she should ask for his mom's (Fire Lord Izumi) support in her civil war.
Which could have been so cool, we never see the fire nation in legend of Korra. But instead... Vaatu😒
0:55
Momo's type of lemur were all eaten
The other types don't taste very good
1:13
Even the dvd commentary acknowledges it barely looks like Sokka
11:30
I mean, it could be like hell.
Happy to be back on the Tube lol
Red
Bro, since the last time you did an Overanalyzing Korra video, I've been literally promoted to Manager at my job and been given 3 raises.
7:45 Oh my god, I'll never be able to unsee that now
Every time you say general Iroh it f's me up
Literally right before this video dropped I checked the channel because I thought to myself “it’s been a while since I’ve seen an overanalyzing avatar video”
I can't wait to see where you're going with this line of reasoning on Mako.
I think I have an idea.
Raiko is president of the United Republic of Nations, which is an independent nation with Republic City as its capital. The united forces is its military. Also, Korra was heading to the fire nation to seek help from their military.
Thanks for the fight to keep reuploading. I know it garbage but we appreciate the hustle!
12:44 Korra is on her way to the fire nation to ask for military aid for the war, General Iroh suggested it to her in previous scene
ATLA never looked like an anime. But this episode especially looks anime.
12:45
Korra is taking a speedboat across the ocean
The twins seemed to have driven JET SKIS all the way from the South Pole
And these two groups have somehow crossed paths
Really makes the world feel microscopic
I know why he's called general, but this iroh is a leader of a naval force, which is the rank of admiral.
11:18 I SEE THE RED DANCING SPIRIT
i wouldnt be surprised if aang revived the use of the slang flameo, but due to modern linguistics more people felt more comfortable using it as a subject than as a greeting. i can almost picture people asking "whats a flameo?", and from there it gradually became disassociated with being a greeting and people just say shit along the lines of what chief beifong says lol
Idk Varric being random feels like what a eccentric rich giy would do tbh
The cut of Korra fire-blasting the spirit only to fail spectacularly and just be dunked underwater was unintentionally hilarious. Great editing as always.
Yeahh! Overanalyzing Korra is back!!
If flameo is now considered an expletive/exclamation and hotman is a term of familiarity or endearment, maybe "flameo hotman" was the equivalent of "shit, bro!"
Honestly love your stuff man! but Meelo training his lemur is foreshadowing for when the new airbenders come and how he learns to train them too.
Also in the third season the Earth Queen declares that "The United Republic IS Earth Kingdom territory!" She accused Zuko and Aang of "taking advantage of [her] father's weakness" in taking the land to create the United Republic, but it was the fallout of the war, built on the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom and became a melting pot of all nations.
glad to have you back on Korra!
Pls keep this series going i need the later seasons analysed🙏🏼
Seeing my dancing boy still getting after it in the background on that iceberg made my day
finally what ive needed is here, some more OA
maybe the lemurs that looked like momo were a domesticated species and couldn't survive on their own without the air nomads
WE ARE SO BACK
Well.. members been here a while
I've waited so long for this. Glad to see Korra is back.
Glad to see you're back!
I'm glad you came back to analyzing Korra. Say what you will. I don't care. I love Korra so I love seeing more of it. I also love how he tears it apart
“How come you aren’t dating one of those 2 lovely girls”-Mako’s Grandma
“One of them got jealous because I was concerned for girl #2 here who was in emotional and physical distress and this one barged into my office, destroyed my workplace and expected me to lie to a government official.”
I’ve gotten used to it so I don’t really care too much but when people get it right the first time it’s a nice lil surprise once in a while🤙🏻
Yes your back 👏 🙌 👌, I cant wait for you to overanalyze Book 3 change, I love your content
Welcome back! Hopefully the other Netflix episodes can get through some day
I got to see a good portion of the cast at comicon recently!! It was awesome!
Thank god! We are so back!
Yup
I have a REALLY hard time believing that Korra, with her FULLY REALIZED AVATAR STATE, couldn't just "wipe out" Unaloq and his army herself. Since when did the avatar need an army?
11:02 This was literally how I reacted when this episode came out in 2013.
7:12 Actually Republic City is just a city, but it's also the capital of the United Republic of Nations which is a country
I'm commenting! You better keep overanalyzing Korra!!!
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO KORRA BACK
11:40 - flameo probably just means "hell" the way its used in these contexts
hell, hotman 🫡
7:57 korra slowly popping up lol
7:58 , you think my adhd ass wouldn't catch thattt
Conclusive evidence of new Over Analyzing Avatar video!
I'm here for the Kung Pow references lmao.
FINNALLY.
Glad you're back! I was looking forward to more of your videos
I'm so happy you're back! Keep it up love these!!
Flameo, Hotman! means fuck yea, dude!
7:57 Hi Korra!
11:17 This fire nation kid was born for the Secret Dance Party, he's a natural!
I might have missed other stuff
4:19 your god damn right
His god damn right what?
12:52 she was going to the fire nation for their help in the war.
Next up one of my favorite episodes
THE KING IS BACK
I think your analysis of Varrick sums up my thoughts on the entire show
"A really good idea in concept but tied to an annoying character for some reason"
When I think about Mako and Bolin, they're a good dynamic, the silly one and the overly serious one but they're brothers who love eachother. But then you watch the show and the show doesn't really know what to do with them and they both come across as flat and one dimensional
Thank you so much for the Wimp Lo reference I didn’t know I so desperately needed today 😂
1:53 The two explosions are completely different though. One is in an enclosed space and came upon Zuko unsuspectingly, Makos is outside so he actually has space to bend the fire away and SAW it coming.
12:53 she’s heading to the fire nation. Iroh told her the fire nation might help after the president told him he can’t.
The Republic City arc of season 2 is definitely the worst bit. Not only does everyone act like a complete idiot and are far too hostile towards each other, but absolutely nothing is accomplished after multiple episodes - the president still refuses to send the military to help stop Unalaq.
It is always a blessing when I see a notification with your name on it
My theory for Momo's species disappearing is that they relied on the air nomads to survive. Years of living with their tribe of people led them to depend on support, like pidgins. People being absent would devastate their population.
isn't the animal spelled pigeon, i know that pidgin (linguistics) is spelled like that but i'm not so sure on the birds.
@@getaround1276 You're correct, it is spelled "pigeon" when referring to the bird.
I think that Varric's wackiness is merited, considering he's based around the trope of Eccentric Mid-Century Inventor who isn't actually as smart as they think.
