Fashion school only taught me to digitize my patterns using Gerber Accumark's pattern drafting programs. We NEVER learned this. This option is great and cost efficient for those who cannot afford to pay thousands for the Gerber program. Thanks for sharing this!
Wonderful tutorial! I will agree with previous comments that the background music is a little loud. I also wanted to point out (I’m sure you caught this but for others watching) when you added your seam allowance into your pattern you shifted your center front to the seam allowance which even though stated in the tutorial there was no s.a. At c.f you added 1cm to c.f which would add 2cm to the finished garment. The s.a should have be brought into the original c.f. Line
This has been invaluable!!! Thank you for sharing :) Yeah, the music is a bit loud and distracting in a few spots BUT I've picked up some really good tips. I have been meaning to digitise my pattern for years and I'm determined to GET IT DONE. Of all the videos that I have watched today, on this topic, your's has been the most helpful. For example, just realised that I don't need the full shape as it has a line of symmetry so I have just halved it and added the 'on the fold' symbol like you have. Thanks again :)
Hi! I love your videos!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, is very appreciated!!❤️❤️ Can you tell us what kind of sewing machine do you use for stretch fabrics??
This is awesome thank you!! I like to creat my own fabrics for patterns. I love using digital patterns so I can design in photoshop and illustrator I can place where I want what in the design. And when fabric comes it’s already printed with fabric pieces. I don’t have to pin patterns to the fabric saves me tons of time! I want to make this shirt for my vacation so badly but there isn’t a digital pattern option for it! You’ve saved the day! I’ve got less then month til my trip!!!
Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I make lectra patterns but have no idea how to create these pdf patterns. bdw do you create one size or do you grade patterns too? If so can you pls do a vedio of the grading process in illustrator?
@@MomthatSews yes I agree. Grading is little bit tricky. Draped details are the hardest to grade. I am a pattern making lecturer and always nervous when I have to teach grading. Its very difficult to make understand.
Great video! It helped me a lot! Question: some people have a line border around their pages for people to cut off the margin, do you know how to get the boarder on the edges of the art boards? I tried just doing a square but it didn't work.
Great video. Super helpful. Thank you so much. You gave me some really good ideas to help me with digitizing my patterns. I’m feeling more confident now!
This helped sooo much! Only trouble I’m having is printing outside of Illustrator. I tried turning it into a PDF and it doesn’t print the same. Do you have any tips on how I could fix this?
Thank you so much for this video 🙏 it is amazing how AI is a versatile program! I have a question and I hope you will answer me 😊 its about sewing allowances. I followed your tutorial and added -1cm on offset path but it adds also 1 cm outside the pattern (not just inside). Do you know how I could correct this? Thank you very much ❤
I do not get multi pages when I follow your instructions. At 8:33 you talk about adding circles so someone can line up their pattern correctly. What did I do wrong?
Thank you, but when I did my print settings the dotted lines "print tiles" are outside the artboard, please help me, no one is wlling to share this info its so sad. Also when you print what are the settings so that there is no white border around the pages?
For future reference, consider dropping background music. It's hard to understand what you are saying with the background music which is much too loud.
I was reallly looking ofrward to watch this vidio but that bad music kept bothring really badly. such a shame. its like tring to do a pattern drafing in a ceep night club, i hope you do this again with no music at all, just talk to your audinace please

The music is really loud in the video (also distracting) so it was a bit hard for me to follow your intsructions. But nice tutorial!
I agree, the music was so distracting that I had to quit halfway through.
And I think the narrator has a cold.. she's a little blocked up...
Thanks so much! This is so helpful and I appreciate how well you explained all of it :)
Yassss!!!!! You are a talented designer and educator!!!! This tutorial was everything
thank you!
Gheez! Who would have thought something like that can be done regarding sewing!! Thank you for sharing. And yup it was foreign to me ! 😂
Lol yea it has a learning curve but with practice it gets easier
Thank you for the refresher.
I love this video, I have wanted to do this for ages, you make it look so easy, please could you do more about this?
I will do more illustrator tutorials in the future yes ❤️
I was needing a method to get a sheetmetal pattern digitized for sharing online and this was very helpful for that. Thanks!
I know this video is an older one but this was so helpful! I hadn't even thought to use illustrator for doing this! Thank you!!!
Nice! You can use the arrowheads in the stroke panel so you don’t have to manually draw them each time. Love your tutorials. Keep them coming.
Didn't think of that, thanks mama!
@@MomthatSews If you want to use that particular arrowhead you drew you can save it as a symbol and use it whenever you need

hi! i know this videos from a while ago but would you be able to tell me what size art board you use for this generally?
Bless you for making this! 🙏🙏🙏
Hi.
Maybe a stupid question. When you draw on your picture, do you use rulers to make sure it is the right measurments?.
Hi! I love your videos!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, is very appreciated!!❤️❤️ Can you tell us what kind of sewing machine do you use for stretch fabrics??
I use a brother se425
Mom that Sews thank you so much!! God bless you and what you do!!

I draft to whatever size I need on paper. I have no idea how to grade lol! I always draft to specific measurements. Grading is way too complicated.

Wow I didn’t know that! I may need to email you for some grading advice 🥰
@@MomthatSews ofcourse! No problem

Make sure you have do not scale
Mom that Sews I tried that. I tried printing the PDF from my desktop and it’s still oversized.
Hum maybe you can screen record your print settings and email the video to me for more help
Thanks for this video! :)

Make sure you shape is closed so it only does it on one side.

Thanks for this video, I was always curious how patterns were digitized

Hi love the video but each time it is not fitting my original always a bit bigger … I am getting frustrated 😪
Can someone tell me which tutorial or book is best to learn creative cloud tools?
how did you get the photo on to the AI dartboard?
Good Tutorial. Thank you for this video bro.
Thank you!
Does skill share have Tutorials on this?
that's a good video!
Hello... can you please HELP me??? i need to send my patterns to a manufacturer.. i really need help.. thank you.
Nice tutorial. But please turn down your music, it’s distracting.
For future reference, consider dropping background music. It's hard to understand what you are saying with the background music which is much too loud.
Good tutorial but the background music detracts. It is not necessary.
Great video but the music is really annoying and distracted me from your voice. Will definitely try this. Thank you for sharing.
I tried but cannot watch it because of the music so loud

That music 🙈
The music is too loud.
You forgot to add the grain line ;)
Get rid of the music, nothing against it but it is distracting
