I once read a football manga called "Ao Ashi". Now, the main team "Tokyo fc esperion youth academy" has a broken squad for being a youth club, with 4 players from their squad always being called up to play for japan's nationals, so for a high school team, they have about 5-6 potential candidates to pick from for nationals. The coach then said that what makes a strong team, is when the substitutes are on the level as the main starting 11 as well. The team that mostly fits this in my mind, is Manchester city, and their great roster of top tier players
I feel like Foden in a different era (between 1992 - 2018) he would’ve been the most hyped English talent ever. But he’s taken somewhat for granted now.
@@jedreznokyovic2103 That may be true but if you put Messi or Ronaldo in either position they would still be the best player on the pitch. I know those two are sort of in a class of their own but the same applies to many genuine world class players.
@kevinb9830 i mean you said it yourself, youre literally putting him in comparison with the best players of the past decade. Obviously he's nowhere near their prime level, no one is. But he's also not in his prime yet, and its not like he fails in those positions at city, he just doesnt shine as much. But my answer for his england form, gareth southgate, useless man.
Man City's depth is provided by Pep. He has players performing well, and effectively. Clearly, he instructs his players in a way that they not only understand what he expects but they believe they can and will deliver. TBH if he leaves that league, I'll feel sorry EPL. They truly don't deserve the extra european places earned by Italy and Germany. Liverpool minus Klopp and Salah is bad enough, but if city was to lose Pep too, it would be shambolic.
I'm an Arsenal fan so I'm obviously going to lean towards Saka over Foden, but even I can admit Foden is in better form right now and having a better season. This guy literally only scores bangers, it's absolutely mental what he can do at such a young age.
Great video! A lot of other channels either refuse to talk about City or just spend 10 minutes slandering them so thank you for actually breaking down Foden/City's season so far. Keep up the great work almost at 300k!!!
also idk where was foden in the actual BIG GAMES ? against LIVERPOOL, against villa away, against ARSENAL, against Chelsea ? where was he's really really good but not the best player in league THAT'S either VVD or RODRI no debate
Honestly don’t think there’s a wrong answer when you put Foden, Rodri, Rice, VVD etc in the conversation at the moment. But there is definitely a debate to be had haha
To be fair, Pep didn’t trust him to play in his best position in those games. He played on the wings against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Villa (this match was ridiculous because Pep used a striker and 2 defenders in the midfield and we saw the result). In games where Foden has played as a 10, he has absolutely been phenomenal this season.
and all those games he was played OUT OF POSITION also what did rodri do in those games lol outside of chelsea against arsenal he was ok, villa away he was solid, and liverpool he was sht so not rlly the best the problem with those games is that all of man citys players didnt perform
How is it vvdhe had 1 maybe 2 good seasons years ago you are a delusional lfc fan and you didn't even mention kdb or haaland you and just saying there are loads of players that are better than him like kompany, rio Ferdinand, vidic, terry even dias has more trophies than him where was van dijk against Madrid last season he is not as good as you think
There's a reason Agüero has been hilighting Phil's talent since he joined the first team, even called him "his Prince". Foden's also put a lot of work in, even getting a private sprinting coach to improve his acceleration a few seasons back. He's class and will be even better in years to come
I think it's the face. People look at his face, decide they don't like him, and then start hating. I'm a City fan so i love the guy but that's my best guess.
They have players who developed quality but their actual squad is small compared to the other top 6. They may have some better players quality wise but not in quantity.
It's been clear for years that Foden would mature into a great player. There's good reason Guardiola said Foden is the most talented young player he's worked with. Last season Foden was great but still young and one of a super squad. This season his coming of age has taken another leap and he's becoming a talisman
@@icyikon4154he’s just trying to say white people can’t have haircuts that black people get. It’s just casual anti-white racism which is acceptable these days for some reason.
Honestly I don't buy it, Foden needs to leave city to become a better player. Foden is a multi-generational talent, but he seems to have had his growth stunted compared to Saka who is the same age. Although Saka is not as talented as Foden, he's currently a level above Foden because he's been developed effectively over the last 2 years. As a neutral, I'd like to see Foden develop into a Ballon d'Or level player, but at this rate he will continue to behind Saka for the rest of his career. He must be the main man at a club.
The thing that makes foden better than a lot of footballers is the fact that he takes the ball a lot farther in tight, tight places. He can drag the ball further up the field while still being surrounded by 4-5 ppl and just pass to a player who's free
Been saying this myself for the last couple years. This dude is a talent.. he has no problem taking the back seat to the stars so to speak, but when needed always steps up big.. man city isnt my first team, but they are certainly a team I enjoy watching
As a Real Madrid fan I’m terrified 🥶. Sure we look more promising than last year, city looks less dominant, and hearing that Walker will probably be out I was slightly reassured. But nevertheless Foden and Rodri will be a real problem and I hope Ancelotti has some tactic in store to preform better against city.
My favourite Airbus plane is the A380 due to its size and comfort. As someone whose flown on it multiple times with Emirates airline I'm still in awe of its different feel in the air. There seems to be no turbulence when in an A380
Man city not replacing key players like mahrez and gundugan isn't really justified they already have, phoden ,doku, alavrez heck even bob and lewis they never have any shortage with players, let alone quality
You mentioned 5 players and none of them can replace gundogan or can even play the role, alvarez tried to put alvarez in that gundogan role and it didn't work He tried to replace mahrez with foden on the right but foden isnt an out and out winger And those two are almost irreplaceable
On generational talent - Had Palmer been as patient as Foden, he would have been playing a lot more on that right wing this season, but alas, that is where Pep had to put Foden. This would have been Palmers year. On Kalvin - I think its a bit unfair, to say he came to City to end his career, I think he lacks confidence and its massive boots to fill with Rodri being who Rodri is. Pep played the best combination of players for 2022/3 season and it clearly paid off. To operate as a holding mid in a Pep set up, it takes extreme intelligence, and ancitipation of both your own and opposition teams/ individuals play. He could not read the game as well. He just couldn't make it. Foden I feel was better on the left than on the right, especially when replacing twinkle toes, he has even better pace than Grealish and definately awesome more centrally. "England are going to lose in very extravagent fashion lol, hahahahah - Who do you think should be coaching the English team with the current team members? We are definately feeling Gundo's loss and his goals ! Foden for player of the year and kudo's to Pep, for honing a talent and giving him the depth to play in more than one position.
He's in exceptional form but there's definitely several players in the league who you can make the case are better than Foden, although he certainly belongs in that debate by this point Rodri could very well become one of the best defensive midfielders of all time. Van Dijk is more or less back to his pre injury best. De Bruyne is still De Bruyne even if he missed half the season. Salah isn't as exciting as he once was but he's still insanely consistent and his already underrated playmaking ability has gone up another level. Saliba and Gabriel have been world class defensively. Mac Allister and Rice have completely transformed their respective teams. There's other examples out there as well but all of those players have a very strong case going for them
To see how good a player is you have to watch them at a football ground. I saw Phil foden last season away to notts forest and he was head and shoulders above everyone else.
from my observation , Foden looks clumsy but all of his touch is neat. he always want to “rush” things. But his reflex is something else man. Sooo good
Strength in depth but they still miss one player who gave them the balance which makes great teams, Ilkay Gundogan. Players like this are very difficult to replace.
The only other team I can think of with good depth is real. You can argue the difference in quality but in terms of still being contenders, they are similar.
Foden would be the star man of any other team. Even if he goes to Real, he'll be the main man, with Carlitto setting the team around him! It's crazy to think that England is gonna find a way to miss the Euro title again! I don't know how, but I know it will.
i would argue that man city don’t have a “stupid amount of depth” but rather the players they do have just are rly good quality and able to fill the injured’s shoes. city have one of the smallest squads ITL
You’re not wrong. Especially about England. Henderson will be starting. I dream of the day we’d have a manager who could be more attacking. We’re going to waste these players with Southgate as manager.
One thing we can agree on is that Foden put those "Mount is better" argument to shame💀

I feel like Foden in a different era (between 1992 - 2018) he would’ve been the most hyped English talent ever. But he’s taken somewhat for granted now.
mainly because he's done nothing for England.
@@kevinb9830 until southgate goes, or starts playing foden centrally instead of out wide, we won't see peak phil for england anytime soon
@@jedreznokyovic2103 I think world class attacking mids would still be top performers in any position in the attacking third.
Great video, you look very down to earth! Keep up going
My friend used to say mount was better when i used to say he only statpads against Norwich and foden is clear. He's been real quite nowadays.
@@sw33tialucardEXACTLY
There's a reason Agüero has been hilighting Phil's talent since he joined the first team, even called him "his Prince". Foden's also put a lot of work in, even getting a private sprinting coach to improve his acceleration a few seasons back. He's class and will be even better in years to come
I think it's the face. People look at his face, decide they don't like him, and then start hating. I'm a City fan so i love the guy but that's my best guess.
Are you ok
@@TderesseLMFAO😊
Maybe you don't like the face 😂😂😂😂
They have players who developed quality but their actual squad is small compared to the other top 6. They may have some better players quality wise but not in quantity.
Best channel on UA-cam
It's been clear for years that Foden would mature into a great player. There's good reason Guardiola said Foden is the most talented young player he's worked with.
Last season Foden was great but still young and one of a super squad. This season his coming of age has taken another leap and he's becoming a talisman
Here after that champions league banger
It's that russian bolt cut he's rocking. My man wants to black but look like a teenage Dimitri.
Tf you mean dawg
@@icyikon4154he’s just trying to say white people can’t have haircuts that black people get.
It’s just casual anti-white racism which is acceptable these days for some reason.
Need a video on cold palmer
Cant believe some people compared mason mount to this guy😂😂
Dont sleep on rico. Wherever he goes he will Definitely take the center midfielder position
He must be the main man at a club.
yes myself a 16 year old arsenal fan am well aware of this Manchester city domination.
Yup, real will need to try and mark foden out of the game for both halves
If you feel terrified becuase a football team you don't even play for may lose, I would suggest getting a hobby
Hendeson, Mount and Phillips to start for England !
My favourite Airbus plane is the A380 due to its size and comfort. As someone whose flown on it multiple times with Emirates airline I'm still in awe of its different feel in the air. There seems to be no turbulence when in an A380
this season hes been brilliant even playing in different positions he's crazy good the best player in the pl.
Some of the most common sense commentary I've heard in a while...well researched, well considered too...massive fan mdara wangu😂😂
Great vid but more importantly, congrats on hitting 300k subs
Real Madrid: solved!
My man uploads 2 top quality videos in just 2 days, pay some respect, truly iconic
calm down.
Man city not replacing key players like mahrez and gundugan isn't really justified
they already have, phoden ,doku, alavrez heck even bob and lewis
they never have any shortage with players, let alone quality
You mentioned 5 players and none of them can replace gundogan or can even play the role, alvarez tried to put alvarez in that gundogan role and it didn't work
He tried to replace mahrez with foden on the right but foden isnt an out and out winger
And those two are almost irreplaceable
He's in exceptional form but there's definitely several players in the league who you can make the case are better than Foden, although he certainly belongs in that debate by this point
Rodri could very well become one of the best defensive midfielders of all time.
It could be a debate. If halaand and kdb were available, would foden have been as good as he is??
What’s amazing is Man City aren’t even the biggest spenders! They’re so smart with their money.
from my observation , Foden looks clumsy but all of his touch is neat. he always want to “rush” things. But his reflex is something else man. Sooo good
Jane from accounting goes hard 👏👏👏😂😂
@footballiconic needs a FPL mini league
phil is one of our own mate
Strength in depth but they still miss one player who gave them the balance which makes great teams, Ilkay Gundogan. Players like this are very difficult to replace.
Such a unique player with a unique style and also humble.
been saying this a long time. Exceptional footballer.
I'm not sure why the hate? chav hate?
hate happens when acceding towards the top, don't ever forget this......
Liverpool fans will be stoked to see they won the Prem in 21-22.
Don't discount Oscar Bobb, man. This kid will be a baller
The only other team I can think of with good depth is real. You can argue the difference in quality but in terms of still being contenders, they are similar.
ppl forgot that during haaland's greatest premier league match at old trafford, foden assist the goals and score 3 as well
I love this channel. Like a lot.
Bro changed the title for no reason
What was it before?
@@DavidMwambaPhil Foden is the best player in the PL.
It hurts to say this as a United fan, but yes, Phil Foden us really really really good.
Foden would be the star man of any other team. Even if he goes to Real, he'll be the main man, with Carlitto setting the team around him! It's crazy to think that England is gonna find a way to miss the Euro title again! I don't know how, but I know it will.
Liverpool have been missing half their team this season and besides flushing the EL down the toilet tonight, they are doing pretty well.
Options for player of the season are rodri and foden?
Foden has technique, speed, flair/elegance, shooting, passing and a good brain on his head. Very dangerous baller
i would argue that man city don’t have a “stupid amount of depth” but rather the players they do have just are rly good quality and able to fill the injured’s shoes. city have one of the smallest squads ITL
You’re not wrong. Especially about England. Henderson will be starting. I dream of the day we’d have a manager who could be more attacking. We’re going to waste these players with Southgate as manager.
Your voice is like melted butter, just thought you should know
truly an iconic football moment right here
