The one thing I noticed about Inoue is this: He is truly a body snatcher.......To win a KO with a body shot is the ultimate KO....The opponent remembers that kind of KO way more than being knocked unconscious....You can convince yourself that you were knocked out with a lucky punch....However, you have no excuse when you are down for a KO with a body punch......This guy is awesome.
Trash talk is and has always been a part of boxing (and human civilization). It's completely ridiculous to say trash talk is decadent unless you were there back when cavemen were still a thing. Also, you've clearly never heard of the Kameda brothers or Shinya Aoki.
He's called The Monster for a good reason...most impressive. He's also the reason I started watching this division...lots of great potential there...now I know other boxers in the division..I'm a fan ..Batanamweights can rock
I think it should also be mentioned that Donaire may not have been in his prime, but after that first fight he still went on to win the WBC belt with a KO and then defend it with a KO as well, before losing to Inoue the second time.
Donaire being past his prime doesn't mean much... if you watch their 1st fight, you may notice it's one of the best boxing matches I've EVER watched. Donaire put on a fantastic performance that you cannot say was a weak past prime performance. Plus they have somewhat similar style, and Donaire has a ton of experience, and KO power also.
In terms of lack on competition, the same can be applied to other great fighters. Look at Joe Louis’ “Bum of the Month”. Outside of Max Baer and Billy Conn, early on in Joe’s career there was a stretch of time were the competition was lacking. However it’s the way in which Joe obliterated his opponents that showed his greatness. I think it’s the same with Inoue. It’s pretty hard to dismiss his outstanding ability. He’s pretty impressive.
In donaire fight refree jumped into inoue when the body shot landed.. Inoue is a gentleman outside the ring and a monster inside the ring like ippo makunochi.
I'm certainly no expert on the history of the bantamweight division but I find it difficult to believe there has been a champion from the past at 118 who wouldn't have a really difficult night with Inoue.
Naoya Inoue is one of the stars of Boxing in this era, supreme slick and has all the attributes to succeed who ever decides to climb in the ring against him , Donaire was never gonna lie down , he's a true warrior, that 1st fight was Inoue's hardest test and he overcame it, he has to move up for greater challenges , he knows this and will challenge them all , watch out Super Bantam and Featherweight, I think he will clean these up too, but can he go up to Lightweight, he has the power, speed for sure , its gonna be fun watching "The Monster" stomp like Godzilla through opponents 🥊
People either don't know or are just uneducated, Inoue's last 4 or 5 bouts have ALL been against TOP 10 guys and he's STOPPED them all! Let that sink in.... Inoue is KING 🤴 right now not just at Bantamweight but in boxing.
You are right, he can only be the best in his own era. And he is. The same is true of any boxer. Ever. Mythical matchups are great fun - I like a good debate on them myself - but they are exactly what we call them. Fantasy fights. Really looking forward to Inoue vs Fulton. Surely that has to happen now.
He is a different kind of Fighter inside & out, I seen what the first fight with Donaire did for him , made him into a better more focused version of himself. I am proud of him and for his Era he is above the rest and him at 122 is something I know he is ready for , question is , are they ready for the Monster?!!!! 🥊👹🥊
Sure he is. If he want to become Super Bantamweight world champion he can’t avoid them for sure ! He must fight them if he want to dominate in this division !
If he gets MJ first, I'm guessing that'll be in Japan. I sort of doubt that Fulton + MJ fight will ever get made. Undisputed at 122 is probably going to take Inoue fighting both of them.
I dunno when even Fulton is ducking Inoue announcing his fight immediately with a rematch then moving up in a weight class away from inoue the moment the belt was unified. Why would you do a rematch when the most talked about p4p fighter is coming to challenge? I swear I'm losing more and more respect for people who follow the ways of Mayweather
At that time i don't see any bantam weight 118 ! Glad he is moving up for biggest challanges ! For me He is One the best fighter i have ever witness Today! He is already a legend ....
I watch all Inoue's fight is very impressive KO. I like his lightning flash one body shot stopping power punch, sharp shooter with very good rocking combination
I think his competition has been pretty solid except a few of his later title defences. And people forget he fought most of the fight against Donaire with double vision.
I remember seeing Rodriguez completely outbox Paul Butler before the Super series happened and thinking that this would be the guy to really test Inoue - naturally much taller with a really good jab, good movement, good feet... Then he just goes in and finishes him just like everyone else. Inoue is cut from a different cloth
Donaire might not have been "in his prime" but he was a monster at that weight, undefeated at that weight up to that point, and had a whole lot to prove. If Donaire had put up that performance against any other 118 lbs fighter active today that night I think anyone who says he wouldn't have won is being dishonest.
If Inoue runs through the 122 weight class like he ran through the 118 weight class, then we'll know. Meanwhile, he is an entirely entertaining fighter to watch. His bouts are rarely boring.
As stated in other comments, some folk don't rate inoue outside of their respective countries, until he goes to europe or the states he won't get the due credit he really deserves, when that happens he will become one of the standout fighters of his era...the next pacman? no,no-one will ever get close to manny's accomplishments in the ring.
Inoue is the real deal. No ducking no drama, put whoever in front of him and he will destroy them. For those who say inoue struggled against nonito in the first fight, nonito got a lucky shot that broke half inoues face and that levelled the playing field massively. The second fight was is how it would pan out had it being level with no injuries
No in the first fight inoue couldn't get a good read on donaire during the fight He kept getting hit by Donaires counter left In the rematch, he studied Donaires counter left, waited for him to throw it and then countered him for the instant ko
Rummy you're a Boxing historian, not long ago (sometime over the past year) I brought up whether you'd ever address double standards against *certain athletes* in the sport (easily noticeable on UA-cam for the past decade) and not only did you reply and have an earnest discussion- you actually addressed it in a future video. You touched on the subject. Without pivotal historians like yourself killing off those narratives often rooted in hideous and nefarious ideologies, that whimsical rhetoric would continue to grow and tear apart Boxing fans from enjoying the sport the way we should. Appreciate the education over the years I found your channel as a teenager, I'm about to enter my 30s in a couple years.
"Reluctant" is putting it mildly. Butler absolutely did not come to fight. His entire goal was to go 12. Maybe Inoue isn't the greatest Bantamweight ever, relative to his era, but if you had a time machine, I would bet on Inoue vs anyone at 118, ever. I think he will clean out 122 also.
I'd say considering that Naoya managed to defeat the best bantamweight in the World while fighting with a broken eye socket and nose that fight was a spectacular victory compared to any era. Courage, talent, boxing IQ and punching power in combination like Inoue has has never been seen at this weight class before. Inouye is as good as the Bantomweights has ever seen and due to the speed he won his first title then moved up and took his second before unifying 4 belts, not 2 but 4, he's already a hall of famer and soon likely a 3 weight champion. Also it's not fair to compare from so far in the past, we'll never truly know how the old fighters would stack up now because they were the best that could be developed with the sports sciences of the time, modern fighters are prepared to a higher standard now but again they are the ones that in this era whose bodies respond best to today's techniques, there's no guarantee of interchangeability.
First comment to your Chanel Rummy. Inoue is a special fighter and a complete bodysnatcher who is imo, being ignored because of his division. But this should change now that he is undisputed. The question I've been reading most is can he do what Manny Pacquio did? I don't That's a once in 20 generation feat to be an 8 division champion. But that's what special fighters do. I hope he believes in himself enough to take that challenge!
People may criticize that Donaire bout, but he did win BACK and defended a strap after that loss to get a rematch with Inoue! Maybe it would have happened regardless, but you gotta appreciate an active boxer. He beat Oubaali who was an olympian and beat Takuma Inoue, who is Naoya's brother! Naoya's brother is not bad! He ain't a potato chips couch guy!
I'm usually totally taken by your videos, and I largely still am too by this one, but I think it was a glaring omission that the cut that developed above Inoue's right eye early in his first fight with Donaire wasn't mentioned. If it wasn't for that cut (in the worst place that a cut around the eye can be), Inoue would've trashed Donaire just like he did in their rematch. Your assessment of Inoue's showing more by overcoming adversity was correct. But what the causal factor of that adversity was says great things about the conclusions one comes to regarding skill levels, legacy etc.
Agree with your comment, comparing best boxer from different era is pointless because there's no comparison in competition etc, but Inoue definitely is the most dominant bantamweight in this era. KO-ing champion in the division and sending the ranker hiding. Hope he continues his legacy at 122 !!
i have a correction: regading donaire-inoue 1: donaire wasnt past his best. dunno how you missed it, but the donaire who went 12 with monster inoue was a better and more complete fighter than the guy who first wasted vic darchinyan. throw the oubaali fight in there and it wasnt a 1-hit wonder or a fluke. he may be past his prime in years, but his recent performances are the best ive ever seen him. look, i dunno how, but its there for anyone to see. weve learned a few things about inoue at 118: 1. a prime donaire wouldnt have gone the distance. 2. it takes an elite, complete fighter with tremendous experience and 2-handed 1-punch KO power to be competitive with naoya inoue in a weight class he belongs in.
watching him as an amatuer from his debut till now Inoue has made me win my bets because he was an underdog for most of the fights! keep on doubting him and keep my pockets fat!
It not really about who they fought to become a unified champion. The thing is they didn't walk through air to get the belts. Sure every generation has their top league of fighter, but Inoue truly is a magnificent boxer of his time. I'm sure Inoue can make it to welterweight and still be a force to reckon with.

It's just, as always, the good ol US of A's attitude to foreign boxers, they don't exist. Has to start fighting in the US.
Hasnt had the best competition? I disagree. He’s demolished the top guys in his weight class. Demolished. No split decisions, rarely unanimous decisions. Majority KO/TKO within early rounds. Whats more annoying from people discrediting him or saying he’s not really fought anyone worthy, are the casimero fan girls. Its just ridiculous.
@@Hakuna_My_Tatas I agree 100%. But he is right. There is a stigma against the legitimacy of foreign fighters until they fight a boxer in the west.
@@Hakuna_My_Tatas people do not really like dominance if it’s too high of a level. You have to be somewhat close to being human or some people naturally begin to start hating on you because they can’t relate to you in some way.
@@ShakenBake444 that's just bs. Just because people from the west don't know some boxers doesn't mean those boxers are elite boxers.
@@pandabear1576the opposite seems to happen to Canelo, people hate on him for having close competitive fights despite the opponents being of the highest level. People just love to hate on greatness, period.
Another very entertaining and concise video, Rummy. Thanks for your efforts!
Inoue is an absolute beast!!! Tremendous fighter with exceptional skills!!!
Donaire made him an even better Monster. Can't wait to see him clean out 122/126 and beyond. Love watching him fight. Go MONSTER go!
One thing I like about the Japanese is they don't thrash talk like the decadent West. They train hard and get in there and fight for honor and Victory
Shinya Aoki says hello....
Damn man, probably the best breakdown of Inoue I have heard. Well said!
That was an excellent video.
Thank you very much! Cheers!
530am is the perfect time for a RC vid to drop because it's now.
Pound for pound, one of the best.
Was hoping you’d be making a new Inoue video 🙌
best boxing channel on the tube🥊
Monster 👹!!!!
Brilliant video
I think Inoue is gonna be the first boxer to be undisputed at two or more weight classes
Always cheers me up to see you've posted a new video 👍
Thank you! I appreciate that!
@@RummysCorner No problem. Glad you appreciate it 🙂 Keep up the good work 👍
I'm certainly no expert on the history of the bantamweight division but I find it difficult to believe there has been a champion from the past at 118 who wouldn't have a really difficult night with Inoue.
Incredible.
Dasmarinas and Aran Dipaen were top ten dudes?
I hope when he moves to super bantam, he's gonna face either Akhmadaliev or Fulton soon.
Sure he is. If he want to become Super Bantamweight world champion he can’t avoid them for sure ! He must fight them if he want to dominate in this division !
Fulton already running to 126... Inoue needs to go the WBO route!!!
@@windyboy1848 don’t worry, once he dominated them. All the losers would still say he hadn’t fought anyone yet. 😂😂😂.
If he gets MJ first, I'm guessing that'll be in Japan.
I sort of doubt that Fulton + MJ fight will ever get made. Undisputed at 122 is probably going to take Inoue fighting both of them.
@@helloman3676 LoL that’s correct bro ! 😂😂😂
This guy is exciting. And a real fighter of our times.
This guy is one of the greatest fighters to watch. Bang for your buck
Congratulations Inoue.
He’ll definitely have more competition going to 122lbs. Only time will tell and I’m excited to see what he’s capable of.
Who should he fight first at 122? Not Fulton. Right?
I dunno when even Fulton is ducking Inoue announcing his fight immediately with a rematch then moving up in a weight class away from inoue the moment the belt was unified. Why would you do a rematch when the most talked about p4p fighter is coming to challenge? I swear I'm losing more and more respect for people who follow the ways of Mayweather
@@laqueenawilliams4762 tbh he should fight Nery or aleem first then fight fulton or mj
Much respect from the Land Down Under Rummy. Always enjoy the quality of your content.
Thank you!
Best pound for pound today. Can win a fight in multiple ways. Has everything, speed and power, good footwork and strong chin.
He's my favourite boxer right now. A beast.
Rummy, this was a fair and well articulated video. Once again, very well done.
I think his competition has been pretty solid except a few of his later title defences. And people forget he fought most of the fight against Donaire with double vision.
Moloney and Rodriguez are pretty good fighters in their own right.
Thanks video. Loves from Turkey.
my thoughts on his legacy ... he will be one of the greatest
One of this generation’s best fighters
I'm a huge Inoue fan but I feel he needs to hit the road and fight in Europe and the USA. That homering advantage has to count for something...
Inoue, is a monster in any era!!!!
WELCOME SIR
Congratulations to The Monster! 🎊🎉🥳
If he runs through 122lbs like he’s been doing, it’ll make him a truly special fighter since 122lbs is probably too big a weight class for him
@@raulramirez9657 why would 122lbs be too big for him?
Great video Rummy
No in the first fight inoue couldn't get a good read on donaire during the fight
He kept getting hit by Donaires counter left
In the rematch, he studied Donaires counter left, waited for him to throw it and then countered him for the instant ko
There’s no lucky shot in boxing, especially with a guy like Donaire.
A wonderful Christmas to you and all of your loved one Geoffrey.
You too, to you and yours Jeffrey!
A true warrior
Thanks! G.S.
Thank you very much! Cheers!
Inoue is becoming a modern great already. His style reminds me a bit of Sugar Ray Leonard
Well, Inoue certainly cemented himself as a great with his last three fights. Amazing instincts, a ruthless, measured finisher.
Luv the vids Rummy.
First comment to your Chanel Rummy.
Inoue is a special fighter and a complete bodysnatcher who is imo, being ignored because of his division. But this should change now that he is undisputed. The question I've been reading most is can he do what Manny Pacquio did? I don't
That's a once in 20 generation feat to be an 8 division champion.
Inoue is an all-time great at Bantamweight. Simple as that.
Hopefully he'll get some bigger fights against tougher competition at 122.
Inoue will also dominate the super bantamweight division👹
He is one of the best I've ever seen in that division. His KO power is truly special
higher KO rating than Mike Tyson in bantam weight is truly disgusting....
Agree with your comment, comparing best boxer from different era is pointless because there's no comparison in competition etc, but Inoue definitely is the most dominant bantamweight in this era. KO-ing champion in the division and sending the ranker hiding. Hope he continues his legacy at 122 !!
i have a correction: regading donaire-inoue 1:
donaire wasnt past his best. dunno how you missed it, but the donaire who went 12 with monster inoue was a better and more complete fighter than the guy who first wasted vic darchinyan. throw the oubaali fight in there and it wasnt a 1-hit wonder or a fluke. he may be past his prime in years, but his recent performances are the best ive ever seen him. look, i dunno how, but its there for anyone to see.
weve learned a few things about inoue at 118:
1. a prime donaire wouldnt have gone the distance.
2. it takes an elite, complete fighter with tremendous experience and 2-handed 1-punch KO power to be competitive with naoya inoue in a weight class he belongs in.
watching him as an amatuer from his debut till now Inoue has made me win my bets because he was an underdog for most of the fights! keep on doubting him and keep my pockets fat!
Warriors are challenger. I admire his ambition. The best pro athlete is not just have a belt or own fans. He makes new boxing fans. Just like Alii.
The Monster from Japan is still alive and well fed, now for bigger foes.
Excellent video
It not really about who they fought to become a unified champion. The thing is they didn't walk through air to get the belts. Sure every generation has their top league of fighter, but Inoue truly is a magnificent boxer of his time. I'm sure Inoue can make it to welterweight and still be a force to reckon with.
Welterweight is way too much. Let’s be reality now
Great video Rum keep it up
