That Dodgers team just mentally checks out after the end of the 162. That's the only reason they won in 2020. If we had a 140 game season they'd probably be champs every year. They're like a salary worker on hour 40 of 50 for the week.
So I have to look at the common denominator through all of those years and change it. I don’t know how many more times we have to see Dave not light a fire under his team when it matters most.
@bdoff23 yes, this year the performance by starting pitching or lack thereof was epic. No offense and Dave roberts did the best he could do from the bench. But you keep expecting different results with same coach. And in 2020 they year the dodgers won they ALMOST DIDN'T lol. How did they get to the NLCS in 2021? You are not a Dodger fan...we've been bumped out of the 1st round 5 out of 11 times...meaning we more than half the time we've go out of the first round...you have to be a new fan to be this spoiled.
When an NHL team qualifies for the postseason, wins their division, a round (or two), or their conference, there is no celebration. Most cases, a big handshake line forms, and the opponents congratulate the victors. The winning team does not pop champagne until they win the Stanley Cup... The Dodgers, or really any division winner at that, should follow the NHL's example. Save the champagne and celebration until you win the whole thing...
My grandpa is 58 years old and has been a life long dodger fan and after every year we have seen them get knocked out in the playoffs year after year hes always said things like "next year will be our year" or "It just wasn't their time", but after we saw them get swept by Arizona he just said "I can't say anything except that I guess their just not meant to win in October". Its been a frusturating decade for dodger fans like me and my grandpa.
@@outofcompliance1639 Yeah you have a point. With how bad the starting rotation was and with all the rookie and veteran players in the lineup it’s a miracle they made it to 100 wins

Then you weren't paying attention. Our pitching staff had been obliterated. We're relying on rookies and Lance Lynn... if you thought we had a chance you didn't pay attention.
This was actually an overachieving team. No pitching whatsoever at any point during the season. Projected to win 86 games and lose the division to the Padres. It’s amazing they got this far to begin with. Nobody in the entire league would’ve guess the Dodgers winning 100 games.
Whatever helps you sleep at night 😂. Look as a Braves fan I couldn’t agree more when this guy completely roasted my team a couple days ago. The fact is this team had the second best record in the NL, and should have won this series. My team at least won a playoff game. We also had injuries to a lot of our pitchers this year but I will not use that as an excuse. At this point I agree with everything this guy said about my team. The regular season doesn’t mean anything anymore. We (Braves fans) expect to be in the postseason, and we also expect to advance more often than not. Anything less is unacceptable in my eyes.
As a Giants fan, I’m definitely fine with making the post-season less often but going farther when we do. The 2010-2014 run was magic, and while I was bummed to see them lose to the Dodgers in 2021 (I had tickets to see them in round 2 if they’d won), I still remember the three rings from before, so it’s fine. They’ll be good again some day 😂
2014 was a magical season, I remember the Dodgers getting KOed by the Cards minutes before the Giants then dispatched the Nats. Bizarre that even going from Mattingly to Roberts, the Dodgers keep losing in the playoffs for largely the same reasons annually.
As a giants fan Farhan and Larry baer destroyed this team and we are wayyyy far behind the dodgers or anyone in the division. They finished in 4th yet they were in 2nd place with 2 games behind the dodgers at the trade deadline that tells me how terrible Farhan is
This team wasn't even supposed to win the division this year, San Diego was. Hell I even saw a few genuine predictions having them finish 3rd in the division. So the fact that they not only won the division by 16 games, but also won 100 games again, all in a so called "rebuilding year" is impressive in its own right. I never expected this team to win the WS this year- just look at the starting rotation by the end... Yikes- but I did expect them to do more than they did. And while this is less than fun, there have definitely been worse years in comparison to this when it comes to failing in October. 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 all come to mind.

As a diehard lifetime Dodger fan, I have been incredibly frustrated for years now. The aughts were horrible with McKook and Co. and now this crap. I felt nothing when they 'won' in '20 because we know they can play great baseball for 70 or so games but for 163+... that takes a better team than what we have right now. I don't pretend to know the answers but I truly believe it begins with more youth and maybe even a new coach. We need energy and not just flacid, stoic guys who lack passion in October.
@@thedailytalon9259Braves are doing good just keep these winning seasons coming. If you're good enough to persistently get in then you're good enough to win it. Remember how long it took the Nats. As a Dbacks fan, this sweep was like winning a mini World Series. I cannot express the feeling I felt when we swept the Dodgers. It felt like a weight was lifted off Chase Field and Dbacks fans. It’s an incredible feeling.
This is exactly how I feel as a Packers fan. Sure we have had a ton of playoff seasons in recent memory, but the last time we won it all was in Aaron Rodgers' second season under center. It's pitiful. Tbh I'm kinda glad he's not on the team anymore so that we can try to build something else.
The Decade Regular Season Dominant Dodgers Remind Me A Lot Of The Decade Regular Season Dominant Atlanta Braves Of The 1990's. Fun Fact: They Both Won A World Series In A Short Season During Their Decade Of Dominance.
Most of the last 3 World Series were won by the Dodgers and Braves. How does that make them the biggest jokes? The biggest jokes would be teams who never win it. Not teams who win it most of the time in recent years.
I know it’s not the same but the astros had a tainted title for 2017. So they went out and won in 2022. The dodgers have an asterisks of a title and can’t back it up with every year being worse and worse of an exit
They are the current version of the 90’s Braves. All this winning in the regular season, yet comes up short come October. Mookie, Freddie, you don’t go 1 for 21 in a series where your pitching staff is literally getting smashed.
2017 and 2020 do not count both ways!! 2017 Astros cheated so no one can even give them credit anymore and 2020 Dodgers (or whoever won it) means absolutely nothing because it was only played 37% of the way complete
iTalk, my brother in Christ. Long time viewer, first time commenter. First I wanna say, I love your content, I watch all of your videos and subscribe to all of your social media accounts, your insight into baseball is unmatched by many. I also wanna state that I am a big Dodgers fan, hell the interior of my car is custom with LA blue and LA stitched into my headrests. I agree with 99% of what you said, but calling the 2020 season a “fake season” rubbed my the wrong way. Every team, every club and every player had the same opportunity to win that year. 60 games (however not 162) was given to every team. The Dodgers weren’t given some special consideration or leg up on every other team. It was a level playing field for everyone. I celebrate that 2020 win, and yes if they had won before or after, it would beef that title up. But calling it a fake season is wrong. Anyway, that’s my two cents. Like I said, love your content! Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. Much love -A jaded Dodgers fan lol.
The MLB season is a grind. That's why winning titles is difficult. Just because 2020 was the only ring your team has managed since the 80s doesn't mean they count like the others. Might as well have been sponsored by Fisher Price. Winning on the road and winning in front of the crowd matters. The Dodgers did none of that in 2020. That's why they don't even feel satisfied with it. Your post is just cope.
I've been saying this for a few years now speaking as a former Tigers fan, the Dave Roberts era Dodgers are the new Jim Leyland era Tigers. Dominant during the regular season only to choke in the most crucial playoff games. This latest series was reminiscent of the 2012 Tigers who only scored 6 runs in the World Series by a team that included Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, and Victor Martinez in their primes plus Jhonny Peralta and Austin Jackson.
As a Res Sox fan, yes, it feels much better to be in the post season infrequently, but with more wins. We have been treated to four WS victories over the last 20 years… I’ll take that over the Dodgers experience 110% of the time!
The dodgers aren’t choking, it’s just a crap shoot… 12 teams make the postseason. So after 11 years of postseason appearances they should statistically have 1 ring.
There pitchers suck this postseason. We live in California it should be easy to find new pitchers here. Also they let go of really good players last year. Justin turner Cody Bellinger Trea turner we could've kept at least one.
I'm not a Dodger fan, but i take issue w with people saying 2020 was a fake season. Everyone had the same challenges and Dodgers won. I agree I would be disappointed about not getting a parade, but the ring wouldn't be less legit.
I swear people purposely ignore so many factors that apply to their own team being involved in 2020 playoffs lol they ignore how hard it was to win too it’s kinda ridiculous.

The Dodgers have won one WS since 1965 when playing a full regular season schedule. The 1981 season was a strike shorten season and they added extra playoff teams.
@@db-rc5fryeah that is wild...this franchise having 1 real title since 65 is nuts...they have not won a real title since 88..I guess we can count the 81 title but still
The Dodgers have averaged 106 wins the last three seasons while winning a total of one playoff series. Meanwhile, the Phillies have averaged 20 fewer regular season wins but have won 5 playoff series. The Dodgers are built to win in the regular season. The Phillies are built to win in the playoffs.
The Dodgers of the 2010's and early 2020's, are the new Atlanta Braves from the 90's. Sustained regular season domination, completely owning their division, and a single World Series win. That's baseball.
If there is one thing the Dodgers need to invest more on, it's a psychiatric team of doctors because with all the success you have, you choke epically. There had been players that were clutch in their old teams only to come to the Dodgers and look measly now (Betts, Freeman) and the vice versa were chokers for the team then leave and look better than ever in the postseason (Corey Seager and Trea Turner currently). It's like they invest in basically everything else to be good/great but not in the psychology end of things. It's where you got guys like Kerchoke constantly throwing like a AA player in the major leagues or have guys like Max Muncy go figuratively blind in at-bats and strike out a lot more than they already have in the regular season. I think this is going to be a very unpopular move, but firing Andrew Friedman will be the necessary step moving forward or else they will just do more of the same regular season success, postseason flameout. Something is not right with the organization here if everyone just seems okay with falling short.
2020 was tailor-made for the dodgers. They are always super dominant when in mid season form and after a 60 game season they were basically in mid season form. They always run out of gas after 162.
My theory is that these teams do not have the killer instinct mindset. The 2022 Phillies, the 2021 Braves, and the 2023 Diamondbacks were fighting for their playoff lives and kept that mentality through the Postseason, got timely, clutch hits and did their job when it mattered for the most part. I don’t think the Dodgers have that mentality as a team right now and they’re going to have to do something to fix that
Not necessarily true, Braves played hard till the end against Mets last year and won the division only a day before the end of the season. Both teams were eliminated in the first series

As a Rockets fan, I feel the same way. No one in Houston cares or even really thinks about how good the Rockets were in the regular season since there's no championship to show for it. Hell, they set the record for most 3 pointers only to choke when it mattered
Baseball is the most random sport of all time. A super bowl usually has a clear favorite, but anything can happen in the first round of the MLB playoffs

I took a nap during game 3..and what do you know when I wake up they were down 4-2 in the 8th and of course Mookie and Freddie were 0 fer. Just went back to sleep. Just don't care anymore because they're a broken record.
You could compare the Dodgers to the Atlanta Braves of the 1990s. Atlanta won 15 consecutive NL East division titles. Yet only captured one World Series title in 1995. They lost in 1991, 1992, 1996, and 1999.
Baseball fan here. The last two playoffs were disappointing for the Dodgers. But when you look at the Dodgers playoff “failures” since 2013 (what a tremendous run), you can’t be too disappointed. Losing in the World Series and league championship series is nothing on which to harp. The success the Dodgers enjoyed in those regular seasons cannot be considered “wasted.” Then look at the regular season results against the teams that defeated the Dodgers in those years when they exited early. Yeah, keeping up with the DBacks for the lean years, looking for something (anything) to be excited about, really did a number on my mental health lol. It was borderline (if not actual) psychological torture Fortunately, it gave me reason to deep dive on MiLB baseball and helped me win a good amount of money on daily Draft Kings lineups by picking cheap "unknown" players. That payout on the Corbin Carroll RotY bet is going to be nice, also. If the Phils win the CS, I won't be too upset, because DBacks weren't supposed to be there; if the DBacks win? This sounds like the Atlanta Braves of the 90's So many division titles, so many post season berths, and only one world series championship during that stretch...
I’m a dodgers and mariners fan and there’s so much disappointment from both of them. But I do have to say that having a team that normally makes the playoffs and doesn’t win it all is a lot less disappointing than having a team that has a 21 year drought and then doesn’t make it to the post season again. Makes you think that there’s another 21 year drought. Anyway it’s better to consistently get into the postseason than never make it at all.
The Dodgers should have been to the World Series at least 5 times in the last 10 years. They should've won it all at least 3 times. Yet all they can do is win the Series in the year that should be forgotten with a schedule of less than 70 games. When are they going to wake up and realize that Dave Roberts, who seems like a fine person, is not the guy? They are managing to turn a winning franchise into a joke, and I've never seen that before. They have the talent. Roberts is NOT a great manager and should be fired or promoted upstairs where he can do less damage.
Actually now you think of it it went on the field and We lost that game And also we never stopped playing to get the goose off the field And now this year a ghost almost got hit by a baseball. I think it is a curse.
The 2010's and 2020's Dodgers ARE the 1990s/early 2000's Braves. The one World Series that both the Dodgers and Braves won were both in shortened seasons.
This is why being a Phillies Fan is somewhat easier than being a Braves or Dodgers fan. Because we might not go to the Playoffs often but when we do we go on a run.
I am a diehard Padres fan. I used to be just fine with Dodgers. However, they became so "dominant" in the regular seasons, that their players and their fanbase just became obnoxiously loud and annoying and since then, I so much dislike them. No wonder why other fanbases gather and support whoever is playing against them and celebrates as a victory of our own. Of course as a fan, I understand the pain, but also to an extent, I am glad they are going through that. They deserve it. They should not even have the face to call us "frauds" when they are the literal embodiement of the word.
I can relate- I have been a Nationals fan since the beginning (2005) w/ 5 division titles & always got knocked out in the first round. Then, of course, came 2019!
I mean tbf the Braves won all of one game too and barely pulled that off. This is after repeatedly failing in the post season. So if we're canceling the Dodgers we're also canceling the Braves.
It doesn't least in the same way, a baseball season is a marathon with only the strongest best winning in the end, 2020 was a mere sprint without the pressure of fans, it was a long spring training.

Right on!
It's not 162 games either.
Yet people are happy with pimping homeruns and showing up their opponents...but you can't celebrate a team accomplishment? Seems weird.

This was actually an overachieving team. No pitching whatsoever at any point during the season. Projected to win 86 games and lose the division to the Padres. It’s amazing they got this far to begin with. Nobody in the entire league would’ve guess the Dodgers winning 100 games.

Con: The playoffs can make all that work during the regular season meaningless. Pro: The playoffs give the underdog a chance to win it all.

That 2012 Tigers team also had a great pitching staff.
They also lost to the Cardinals weakest WS team.
Victor Martinez didn’t play in 2012
All that flowing champagne means nothing when days later the only thing flowing are tears.
Nice excuse
There pitchers suck this postseason. We live in California it should be easy to find new pitchers here. Also they let go of really good players last year. Justin turner Cody Bellinger Trea turner we could've kept at least one.

Hard to win in the playoffs when you loose your top 3 starting pitchers
Rangers not having that problem
good for them
The batters going cold are more of the main reason than that
The Dodgers have averaged 106 wins the last three seasons while winning a total of one playoff series.
💯💯
The Dodgers and Braves should face off in the battle of disappointments

Anyone else remember the goose that flew on the field in the NLDS? Maybe it's a curse
Actually now you think of it it went on the field and We lost that game And also we never stopped playing to get the goose off the field And now this year a ghost almost got hit by a baseball. I think it is a curse.

Maybe the curse of the nuns will last a century.
The rally goose . Padre fans had the rally goose on shirts and signs . I loved it.
I’m a dodger fan and you pretty much said what everyone else is thinking and you’re absolutely right 😢
The LA dodgers, also known as the greatest October punch line.
So, is that the new curse?
Don't jump in the pool after winning!
It'll curse your team!
i agree with you ,going the fact that 2020 was a diluted season, that world series win is meaningless
Who’s here after they finally won it all in a 162 game season in 2024? 🏆😎🙌🏽
14:06 do u take us seriously yet or did we “BuY tHe RiNg”
I can relate- I have been a Nationals fan since the beginning (2005) w/ 5 division titles & always got knocked out in the first round. Then, of course, came 2019!
The dodgers won in 2020 but they had longer success better teams than you guys who we expected to lose
I mean tbf the Braves won all of one game too and barely pulled that off. This is after repeatedly failing in the post season. So if we're canceling the Dodgers we're also canceling the Braves.
I like how everyone around the league just casually acknowledges that their 2020 ring doesn't count
It doesn't least in the same way, a baseball season is a marathon with only the strongest best winning in the end, 2020 was a mere sprint without the pressure of fans, it was a long spring training.
If it was a 100 game season it would have
Counts less than the NBA bubble title.
Congrats Dodgers on winning the 2020 WS!! ..oh wait, hold on.. they played in Texas in front of like 10k people with masks on during covid, yep definitely seems legit at 43-17
