In my country Syrians are less than 1% of the population but from the people receiving benefits and public funds they are 12%. Problematic stats despite their high education and being nice people mostly.
Thats not bad at all though compared to other countries thats nothing, in the UK the Pakistani/Bangladeshi population is 2.5% and they are 60% unemployed/recieving benefits or public funds, they're also the most hospitalised for birth defects taking a large percentage of healthcare resources. Indians on the other hand are one of the most hardworking integrators in the UK, isn't it interesting how people can be so different but be from bordering countries?
Yeah a lot of people wanted to return after the US invasion of Iraq, but we know what happened after that. It's unsatble and there's no telling where it's going. At this point it can go either way. Only time will tell.
The us replaced one dictators with many, then covertly encouraged tribal conflict to maintain control, their soldiers were even caught pretending to be tribals
No one is vilifying anyone but Western countries also would like a return to their normal history and culture. We deserve this as human beings, the same as people deserve safety. Thank God for Georgia Maloney Marie LePen and Donald Trump!
How will it shape policy? Enslavement Camps. More industrious/wealthy countries will work together to destabilize weaker countries and then possibly force refugees from those countries to work in the factories of Savior nations.

They should be returned to help in the reconstruction of THEIR country. It is THEIR duty, not Europe's.
