Honestly love the small detail of Fern acknowledging Frieren's power or "the height of magic". Most of the other mages would've been scared or shocked. Fern was just happy and proud of Frieren. Also goes to show how powerful Fern is and will become.
Mark my words, Fern, is the next Flamme. Fern has (or will have) everything to become the greatest mage human kind has ever seen.
Serie acknowledged Fern’s potential. Sense did as well. And both are aware that despite their flaws, Frieren is currently the second strongest mage in the known world.

serie is just a whole another monster, she doesn't even fear the top rank demons. Although the same can be said to frieren just give her prep time and she can literally break even the most anomalous curses.

@@rbj229 "broken" as in something that isn't realistically scaled. Like an overpowered ability in a video game, people would say that is broken. Concerning the fact that she is from the mythical era, the same era the Spiegel is from, which can copy Frieren and much more, she should easily be the strongest and capable of things otherworldly.

I don’t exactly blame them, considering we haven’t seen all of what they can do, and even sense has said fern is like a prodigy. But yeah now we know everyone in there got that dawg in them lol
@@oneeyedk1ng_02 she was prodigy or like born as a genius and she may eventually accomplish more things in the future, but it's still quite far away + in the setting of this world, not everyone is invicible when it comes to the philosophy of one spell can counter another spell, one person may be capable of exploiting other weakness combining with combat experiences blah blah...it made things pretty complex just like Methode said, it's complex rock-paper-scissor.
In this specific case, Methode is testing out that the weakness of Fern is relating to restraining spells which is also one of her specialties as well. And then they was like "she is gonna end up dying" 🤣; Speaking of mana only, that lady has already closed or equal to Frieren's concealed mana and already have a vibe of veteran.
Now pray for a Season 2 by Madhouse.

The timing matches somewhat
Yes, the mage exam takes place 30 years after the Death of Himmel the Hero, and Himmel died 50 years after defeating the Demon King. Also, keep in mind that the other 3 members of the Hero's Party were not to be trifled with either. All 4 of them were so far beyond what most other people could ever hope to be that it was insane. And it took all 4 of them to take the Demon King down.
Additionally, the Demon King has been attacking the Elves, Dwarves, and Humans for millennia. The only thing holding him back was other demons and their inability to work together. While that was happening, all three of the other races, working together, only managed to hold on and keep the Demons contained in the Northern third of the continent. It was only until Himmel, Frieren, Eisen and Heiter came along that anyone even got close to the Demon King's fortress.
That fight was ...... beyond insane.
@@vishnu79 Although the Hero Party dealt the killing blow, there's another big participant that contribute greatly to the fall of Demon King (reducing the number of 7 sages).

Clone Frieren: Shinra Tensei
i have a feeling frieren actually can cast demon curses, it's just that she relies more on the spells she creates after analysis rather than using these powerful spells that causes her the equivalent amount of vulnerability. She got spells that are basically a guarantee in a 1v1

The shameless hyping of fern seem to confuse a lot of people. Some really thought that she already did it. Frieren said, that waekness isnt enough to kill me, and in the end, its true and she killed her own clone after the opening of fern 😂 you could also say, Frieren set her own Student up😅😂
Such an incredible fact that frierens clone thought fern as a bigger threat than the original is what gives me chills down my spine
Fern was the “immediate threat” not the “bigger” one. Fern was only able to strike the clone at all because the actual Frieren was battling her. What that scene shows is how Frieren CAN get annoyed and a bit vindictive if someone actually manages to hit her. That was a “fuck around and find out” moment. Had fern entered that arena alone it would not have taken the pinnacle of magic spell to defeat her. The clone simply would have killed her. In no way shape or form is current fern a threat to Frieren in an actual match.
not greater threat, just the finisher. She already knew Fern wasn't going to be the one drawing aggro (Fern would be waaaay too weak for that), but she would be able to score on an assist set up by the original Frieren.
In that moment, Fern was the one throwing the vast majority of the direct attacks while Frieren was setting up during the clone's downtime lack of mana detection, so the only person visible and attacking the clone, was Fern. No other known targets/threats at that point, so Fern ended up taking the hit.
@@mookiestewart3776 Yep, while Fern is capable of inflicting near-lethal damage when her attack is set up by a distraction, she alone vs Frieren would get absolutely demolished without a single opportunity to even attempt a proper strike on Frieren.

The anime minimized it, but Methode destroyed Fern’s replica alone and didn’t even seem tired. Even the choice of who would fight her own replica wasn’t about power: she told a cute girl to go, because she loves cute thing and would pull her punches. I think she’s around dunken’s level, maybe slightly weaker (and he’s actually a beast, next arc will show it more).
Methode took out the Fern clone, that´s a good way to hype her up, specially since it was offscreen

I don't understand why people are so shocked when Frieren says that she is over 1000 years old, that was made clear at the beginning of the series because she was the apprentice of Flamme who has been dead for over 1000 years.

The last move that Frieren's clone did wasn't a spell since Fern also said she didn't detect any mana nor magic while the clone used it. And in the past episodes Frieren already discussed that Curses are something that mages can't comprehend. In other words, Frieren is so OP she can also use a curse, the same thing she used during her battle with the Demon King since the last time she was forced to used it was 80 years ago.
She did not use a curse, Frieren can't cast curse spells even in the manga she is still stated to claim this. What she used is something else.
@@Korksbebig It's pretty much implied that it is a form of a demon curse magic or another type of curse. Up to now, even in the manga, curses are the only thing that doesn't rely on mana nor can't be detected as a spell and is very complicated to human mages that even Fern can't comprehend what was used against her. A dying Frieren would certainly have a last resort to take enemies with her, and curses activates automatically if it happens. After all, curses are typically created by deep hatred/wrath or the desire to get revenge.
The only other probable theory is that it's an ancient magic that only elves know which wasn't explained in the manga yet.

Technically Frieren got beaten by the Demon King, because her power at this point could be comparable to theirs (and also paying attention to the subs saying that Frieren was the one who killed the Demon King)
The demon king was defeated by the combine efforts of four members lead by Himmel.

It was the combined effort of all of her party and had anyone faltered they would have lost. What Heiter stated was trusting her to fight the demon king, not just carry them.

You aren't "Wrong" just remember based on how we see things go it had to be a great scene of all 4 finally beating the Demon king. Frieren didn't defeat the king alone.
