The number 10 became iconic because of a citizen called Pelé, who took that number in a drawing that won three world cups and from it all teams in the world reserve the 10 for their biggest star

Ronaldinho grew up watching Maradona & Pele. Ronaldinho was Messi's mentor and assisted in Messi's first goal but if you watched carefully the clip with him and the kids you see the young Messi. When he left Barcelona Messi took over the number 10.

Pelé was the king of the 60's, Cruyff of the 70's, Maradona of the 80's, Ronaldo of the 90's, Ronaldinho of the early 2000's, then along came Messi.

10:55 » they are from different positions: Messi is a scorer, and Ronaldinho was a (forward) midfielder to assist the scorers (brings attention and defenders to him, dribble them and do a marvelous pass to a free person in position to score)

I can tell you I played soccer from when I was in like the third grade until the 12th and by no means am I pro or expert, but I played same position as Ronaldinho (midfield/attacking midfield -- usually in a 2 4 4 set up) and I can answer a few things you asked throughout about certain football things.
When you're sprinting the goal is to barely touch the ball, youll grow up and play ALWAYS hearing "LIGHT TOUCH LIGHT TOUCH" and you'll do the foot crossovers and stuff independent of the ball, which rolls on its own (where you bring your leg over and in front of the ball then cross over and alternate legs over it). The ball just rolls while you do fancy shit around it and then you touch left or right as needed.
The position he plays is kinda like the guy who has to run the entire field as needed. YOu're available to the defenders or keeper as the person they clear to so you can go on the attack, because you're going to 'carry' the ball up field for the strikers (forwards/goal scorers). So when your own keeper gets possession or stops a goal, or a defender steals from the opposing forwards/attackers, you are the one who hangs further back ready to receive so that you can push forward while the strikers (forwards) get open. More often than not your aim is to get up your side of the field (left or right) and then cross into the center for the strikers. You will also have opportunities for goals, but you arent like a full on striker.
Blaming the keeper is sometimes correct, but most times their actual view of the ball is obstructed and when you're actually playing in real-time the speed of the ball is MUCH faster than it looks on TV or especially in highlights. Some of those kicks/goals are absolute rockets and once you realize it's actually on net and going to hit a corner you have very little time to maneuver your body and then try and stop it.
I can't speak on 6% of free kicks making it in, but in a free kick the most common thing (at least when i played) was to pass and not make a direct kick on goal because the other team gets to make a lineup. I hated being in lineups because you're really just standing there holding your nuts and hoping that when you jump you arent gonna get a broken nose, haha. However, that same lineup really blocks your own keeper's view, so a well placed corner or rocket-kick is REALLY difficult to react to.
I'm not sure on the name of the kick where Ronaldinho cross his right leg behind his left, but I played the same position and some times that would be done (albeit much less successfully) because I'm right footed. You'll often place a left footed player on the left-mid forward or someone who can use both feet. But there are definitely times when I wouldnt be able to cross with my left and I'd need to chip the ball with the outer edge of my right foot.
For the shoulder taps, i honestly cant remember if that was considered hand ball. I could SWEAR it was, but that might also be our local club/regional rules so that there was no grey area when we played because unless you're playing in the bigger tournaments and stuff (or even then? I dont remember) the flaggers and refs were local volunteers or parents orsomething.
and IIRC, you CAN steal it from the keeper once it's left their hands but I think in Ronaldinho's case it was disallowed? or they had to clarify the rules afterwards? In an actual game situation i can probably think of dozens of times that someone was TRYING to do that to our keeper or the other keeper, but the keeper just takes an extra step away, or throws it dodgeball style to a defender just a bit ahead of them. It would be pretty difficult to actually catch a keeper mid-dropkick like that. If i had to guess it was more of a "get the ball out fast" situation to push forward and ronaldinho had been far forward and the keeper forgot he was there.
And one last thing that i see come up a lot in videos like this... curving the ball. I'm pretty certain most people find it more difficult to keep the path straight than it is to curve it.

The #10 is a position on the football pitch. It is typically a an offensive midfielder whose job is like the point guard in the NBA, to move connect the defense to the offense, and distribute the ball to the strikers. Some of them have become iconic and were also able to score tons of goals apart from providing assists to the strikers. Football strategies have evolved so that there's no longer as much reliance on the #10 position, but in the old days wearing the #10 jersey almost was synonymous with being the field general of the offense. Players like Pele, Maradona, Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane, etc, made the number iconic. Even Messi is sometimes in the false #9 position and sometimes the #10 position nowadays. And no, they don't retire numbers in football.

Great reaction 😊 I’ll try to answer some of your questions 😂
The number 10 was just a regular number…until Pele came along in the late ‘50’s and 60’s and turned the number 10 into a iconic number. Then Johan Cruyff was around and basically created the art of total football. Then Maradona came around in the late 70s and 80s. Afterwards it was Ronaldinho in the late 90s through to early 2000s and Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar etc came along after them, but Pele started it all, and created modern football.
Messi inherited the number 10 from Ronaldinho after he left Barca.
Btw if you look at videos of young Messi you can see him dribbling through the entire team when he was 6 😂

The number 10 is weared by the better footballer on each team.
The clip hitting the post a few times is not real, it was a commercial.
Messi took the 10 when Ronaldinho left from Barcelona.
Yes, Messi is better dribbling because he can sprint with the ball attached so close to his feet, but Ronaldinho had an explosive snatch that makes than he can left behind a defender in the first meters (8:27). Obviously Ronaldinho had also a perfect ball control, and he can do bicycles (2:54-15:10), roulettes (4:22 to 4:28) or elasticas (8:04) to dribble, while Messi just runs in the direction that he wants or maybe he make a feint with his body.
There is no % of score a goal when someone is about to shoot a fault, but having more than 6% of directs free kicks converted in goals it means that you are a good free kick shooter Ronaldinho (7.32% avg) Messi (8,05% avg), in the season when Messi scored more freekicks was in 2018/2019 with a 13,55% efectivity ratio, what is incredible.
In 15:38 Ronaldinho can not do that, you can not interfere when a goalkeeper is about to kick the ball from his hands, it is a fault and a yellow card for Ronaldinho.

About the clip hitting the post, one of Ronaldinho's friends from the Brazilian team said in an interview that this video was famous and, in a friendly game with Argentina, during warm-up, Argentina fans started screaming that it was fake, to tease Ronaldinho, so Ronaldinho took the ball and did it on purpose, hitting the post for real, the Argentina crowd stopped screaming and stayed silent.
