  • In recent months, the public housing market has seen a surge in million-dollar homes. But surprisingly, discontinued HDB properties such as terrace houses, executive maisonettes and DBSS flats are also joining the bandwagon despite their decaying leases.
Why do they still appeal to homebuyers? Are they truly worth the hefty price tags?

The fact that there is already an excessive amount of demand awaiting its absorption, despite how everyone is frightened and calling the crash, is another reason why it is less likely to occur that way. 2008 saw no one, at least not the broad public, making this forecast, as I'll explain below. The ownership rate was noted to have peaked in 2004 in the other comment. Having previously peaked in the second quarter of 2020, we are currently at the median level. Between 2008 and 2012, it dropped by 3%, and by the second quarter of 2020, it had dropped from 68 to 65.

Investing in both real estate and stocks can be prudent choices, particularly when backed by a robust trading strategy that can navigate you through prosperous periods.

You're not doing anything wrong; the problem is that you don't have the knowledge needed to succeed in a challenging market. Only highly qualified professionals who had to experience the 2008 financial crisis could hope to earn a high salary in these challenging conditions.

Going forward, I am not sure if this is sustainable.

People with the means will pay for what they like no matter what. Lucky you, if your HDB is desired by one of these spenders.

its not lease if u own the economic benefits of the property. you can choose to sell or rent out the property. moreover, what do you expect? what is there to complain about? it is not as if HDB was a freehold property and then changed to 99 years after that. Do you see ppl complain about buying a 99yr lease hold condo? You buy with ur eye open and you sign up for the deal.

I don’t see it as a jarring mistake. And I’m an English teacher. The reporter has weaker enunciation but is still bearable to listen to. My grievance is more on Ry-Anne Lim (the journalist being interviewed). She sounds pitchy and grating. My ears really couldn’t take it.

The journalist on camera needs to learn how to speak naturally and enunciate clearly. Really hard not to get distracted by the multiple attempts at a cringey fake half-American accent and lapses into the flaccidness in the tone and enunciation of syllables. E.g. just say "dollars"like Singaporeans say it, not "da-llers".
The Malay-accented voice narrating in the background is a positive example to learn from.

How do you tell the houses at 1:10 apart from landed houses? Is it just based on the prominent block number? Ry-Anne Lim (the journalist) being interviewed sounds very pitchy. Such grating and piercing voices can lead to listener fatigue. I couldn’t continue listening to her halfway. I can’t stand listening to such voices for seconds, let alone hours. She should learn to speak at a lower register.

The issue is that it is an OPEN MARKET SYSTEM THAT SAYS PEOPLE CAN SELL MILLION of DOLLAR WHY I CANNOT. So this million keep popping up. In the end it will be an EXPECTATIONS OF HOMEOWNERS AND WITH GREED IN MIND IT WILL BE A BIG NATIONAL PROBLEM. It is humans that made this and will pay heavily for it's consequences for younger generations😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
