While not direct, I love that this embodies what Rengoku said; "I accept her as part of our ranks". Sure, the smiths aren't slayers, but they're still part of the Corps, and seeing them both appreciate and accept the "demonic" Nezuko is absolutely heartwarming.

But its more devastating in the manga because its just the snap decision of Nezuko and manga reader fully expected Nezuko to die before actually flipping the end pages.

It’s the perfect fake out. They tricked all of us by animating it in a way they’d do any character death. Also Tanjiro was so angry he cut Hantengu twice without even using a breathing style before cutting his head off

As a manga reader I was waiting for tears from anime only fans and apparently it delivered. I was just waiting to finally hear her voice then I got a bit choked up.

Perfect execution, this scene is beautiful. When the montage hit me it solidified w me it was legit. For example, if they faked you out by it ending up that someone was shading her the whole time after she kicked tanjiro off, that would be a monumentally cheap and meaningless trick and I would've given up on the show. But it stands strong, because the montage's purpose switches, they lead you to believe it's in memorial- but the whole time it's to show the adventure of Nezuko being a demon up to this point, and to mark the end of her curse/the transformation back to normal. The montage still holds purpose in the twist while also being used to absolutely fool you.
Along with that, it also made Tanjiro slaying an upper rank demon feel earned, he literally thought he lost his final family member and his entire purpose, I think whatever generational strength he can access, he'd be tapped into it now.
Incredibly well done and clutched that entire season.
