I stole your idea about 4 years ago inside of a Ace Hardware. I still use this method today. Thank you.
It's all good.. I love my Weber's and all the mods as well.
Seriously. Those barrel cooker mods make a lot of sense. It’s way better than a barrel cooker that you can’t access the fire unless you remove the grates
It’s definitely a much better design. I’m surprised that others don’t build theirs this way.
It's like Legos or transformers for us bigger kids! Love it!
Lol.. That's funny.. Thanks
This is the modiest mod video of all time! Thumbs up!
I cook a lot food at one time and these mods come in handy.. Thank you..
I'm currently building an 18" WSM out of rescued kettle parts, using the a middle section from a WSM. Just found a lid from a neighbor of yours, so I should be up and smoking soon. As Harry Soo, great channel by the way, spreading BBQ knowledge and love, comes back to you ten times.
Awesome you found a lid. Issom is a good dude. Hope everything works out and you get smoking meats soon. Thx
Brilliant. We are a rare breed. Mods make everything better. I’m always lookin to upgrade, you have a crap ton of great ideas. 👍🏼💪🏼🇺🇸
I agree.. Love these mods so far. Can't wait to try the barrel cooker mod. I have a few more mods I'm going to do. Thanks for commenting..
I am doing some research and interested in a WSM 22 inch. I watched your video and my head exploded. The modularity and flexibility of the WSM is amazing. I am ordering my WSM after I post this. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. The next round is on me.
No problem at all.. You're going to love it.. Thanks for watching.
I am sitting in the shade with my new 18" Weber Smokey Mountain smoker burning the second load of charcoal through it to break it in and happened across your video, MAN you have a lot of tips for us newbies with this smoker. Thanks for all the time spent coming up with these great ideas and modifications. I hit the subscribe and like along with the notification bell. ROCK ON !!!
Thank you Paul.. I love modifying grills and smokers. It's amazing all you can do to these Weber's. I also love cooking for a lot of people too. The wsm is definitely a great smoker. I appreciate the comment and have a great day.
Wow. You just got UA-cam BBQ channel heads spinning like a top. At the beginning, I was thinking, nice setup for a lot of food cooks, but why haven't you addressed the hanging of smoking meat. Then Bam. You nailed it. You've given a lot mods, that going to take a while to sort all of it out. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎.
Thank you.. I didn't stress the barrel cooker mod cause I haven't tested it out yet although I wanted to share with everyone the extra feature. Also I'm not that great stepping in front of the camera at this time but I'm working on it. I completely spaced finishing how the hanging of the would work right after I zoomed in. I can kick myself in the butt for that and I'll assure you I will explain it in my upcoming videos. Thank you for bringing that up and thanks for watching.
@@BBQJOE for a fairly new channel, you're doing pretty good. Stop stressing. Most don't even notice, until you keep apologising for it. Remember relax, you're supposed to be having fun. 😎.
I'm having fun for sure and sharing ideas too. Thanks for the support.
Brilliant demonstration of the WSM's versatility, gave me a few ideas, thank you. I own a WSM and a kettle, the kettle is more or less redundant now, well, apart from it's lid which as shown in this video is required to achieve some of the setups. Another tip I would add is the only fire Rotisserie and pizza attachment which I originally bought for my kettle fits on the bottom section of the WSM, pop a kettle lid on top and you have yourself a mini pizza oven or Rotisserie works perfectly.
Hey Brother! This is my kind of Video! You showed what is possible with a little imagination and the Weber and Cajun Bandit products. Once I started fitting and putting pieces together.....it was endless. And I think you will be exploring even more combinations in the future. Your stack rack idea is awesome for utilizing all of that space in the WSM!
And that was a cool idea for the hanging rods. You've shown why the WSM is a better option than the PBC. If the holes are ever a problem for you......I recommend aluminum furnace tape. Well........I can't wait to see all of these set up options used in your upcoming Vids. Thanks for the mention.....keep up the great work.... and Metal On! \m/
Thank you Ken and you're welcome.. I'm definitely having fun with it.. I was just using that aluminum furnace tape the other day when I had to change out my hot water heater. lol that's a great idea..! I'm going to buy one of those magnet strips or a magnet key holder and place the allen key so it's on the wsm when needed. Thx for the idea
Man... these risers are such a grate idea! Looks like you've put a lot of thought into this!
Welcome to Joe's BBQ House. Nice to see ya here.. It's a great idea if your looking to expand a wsm or a kettle.. 65 lbs of meat in one cook is awesome for a wsm.. or 30 whole wings and 14 chix legs on the kettle. Thanks for stopping by and commenting..
Mighty fine fab work.
Thank you. My fabricator knows his stuff.
Very nice job, u really put the thinking cap on. Good presentation 👍🏼
Thank you.. I have to be creative when cooking for a family of 6 along with friends stopping by lol..
Very thorough and informative. You’re all set, you need nothing else but maybe a big trailer smoker.
Lol.. I'm sure you saw it already and had a blast with it the past couple of days.
Love the mods and the safety... cheers!
Thank you!
Your like the Henry Ford of BBQ, Dig it. 🥩
Love the comment.. Thank you.. Just having fun with my pits. Thanks for watching.
Nice instructional video Joe! I used to have a WSM and you make me want to go buy another one. 👍🏼
lol.. Thank you.. I need to start jumping in front of the camera more often. I'll get the hang of it one of these days. Thx for stopping by
You have a seriously cool set up. The custom mods rock. This video is really informative and fascinating to watch.
Thank you.. I just wish it wasn't cold out. My fingers were getting numb lol.. Thank for watching..
I agree with MeatCranium. You have some genius ideas. Wish I had those skills lol.....you guys bring amazing value to our community and I appreciate your willingness to share. Cheers!
Love the passion. Great mods!
Thank you..!
Great job on the mods, very informative.
Thank you.. I wish it wasn't so cold out lol.. I'm also not used to standing in front of a camera talking to the lens lol.. I'll get better in time.. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Joe's BBQ House You're doing Great Joe!
Thank you Tom..
Way cool thanks for the time you spent producing these videos. I really enjoy the information you share......
Thank you and welcome to Joe's BBQ House.. You're welcome and hope you stick around for more.
I love the mods you've done to your WSM. I've seen the casters and the steel door mods before but I had no idea you could squeeze in 3 racks on the 10" stacker ring, now that's a game changer. I really wish I could run the stacker ring on mine but I installed the lid hinge kit so it wouldn't work with mine unless I removed the hinge kit and filled in the screw holes. I'll have to look into the upgraded temp gauge for the lid, the stock one definitely isn't reliable or accurate that's for sure. I always run meat probes so it's not a huge issue but it would be nice to be able to read the temp at the top. I tried to order some casters for mine straight from Canun Bandits website but I had trouble locating it, all I could find was the whole kit that has the casters but also has brackets to hold the bottom and middle sections together. Don't really have a need for the clamps to hold the sections together as I have a flat slab patio and not much likelihood of the 2 sections coming apart while I roll it. I may just email them and see if I can't just buy the 4 casters without the clamps. Anyways, first time watching your channel and I'm impressed with your knowledge and skills so I hit the subscribe button and looking forward to watching more videos.
Thank you for the kind words.. I have to ask.. What hinge kit did you buy..? I bought mine from Unknown BBQ years ago and all I have to do is remove the pin which will separate the lid without unbolting anything.. That's how I use the Cajun Bandit stacker on my wsm and my kettle.. I also use the stacker with the rotisserie ring with no issues at all..
@@BBQJOE I purchased the hinge kit from Cajun Bandit but I'm really glad you said something.......now that you mention it, I do recall there being a cotter pin in the hinge. No idea why I didn't think of that lol but I'm almost 100% certain it does contain a pin. Thats awesome news.....looks like I can pick up a stacker ring after all.
Your going to love it..
Joe, I’m not trying to stroke your ego or anything, but, that was awesome. I have that kettle and wsm ( not the Cajun bandit stuff) but you have introduced many square inches to my cooking space.
Thank you.. Just some mods I like to share with everyone. I was going to get the Ranch kettle but decided to invest into the wsm. The 8 rack system works great. Thanks for watching.
Joe's BBQ House I saw that grill in person and my eyes damn near popped out of my skull. ( huge grill ) you cook for big crowds so that would make sense. I cook for maybe 6 tops. But just your ingenuity on how to turn those pits into power cookers Is awesome. Hope your channel gets huge.
@@sideyardbarbecue3214 Thank you.. These mods are getting me by for now. I have a monster mobile cooker getting built and hope to have it soon so I can expand in the catering world.
Very nice video!
How many grates can you add to the top grate if you don't have the extension piece that makes the WSM taller?
I believe a you'd have to go with and 18" grate cause the lid tapers. You might be able to add to of them but I'm not 100%.
Love it. Great work. Thanks
You're welcome.. I love Weber family of grills and smokers..
Awesome Mods Joe!
Thank you Tom.. I appreciate the support
Was hoping to see the kettle to WSM conversation kit and your thoughts. Have the kettle but trying to decide between the conversion kit vs buying a wsm
Personally I would get the wsm.. Otherwise the Cajun Bandit smoker kit works great if you're looking to convert. You could buy a good use wsm 22 for the price it would cost to convert the kettle. Either way you go you can't go wrong. Keep in mind at the end of the day you can fit more food in the wsm 22 vs the conversion.. Thanks for watching..
Thanks great videos and channel
@@tomlucas4788 Thank you and you're welcome.
Amazing video..was indecisive as to what to get..need something with more cooking surface per sq/in n seeing this has given me plenty ideas I can do with my weber kettle 22..n helped me decide on getting the wsm as well
Oh yeah.. Either way you go you can't go wrong.. I love the fact that most of the parts will work on both.. You should join my facebook group under this same name to see more.. Thank for watching..
Brilliant Joey!!! Very creative! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you and you're welcome.. I love modifying grills as you can see. Thx for stopping by..
Did you have to make the hole bigger for the thermometor you installed on the side of the cook chamber?
If you're talking about the wsm, I just removed the grommet and installed it. Did not have to drill..
I wish they made an extender for the WSM 14.5”
Same here cause I could one too for my 14..
@@BBQJOE I’ll bet you could hang four racks of ribs with an extender on a WSM 14.5. Makes me want to consider making a homebrew version.
That's not a bad idea..
Love this. I’ve been trying to figure out how to add additional racks. Can you send the link on Amazon for the lower rack? I can’t find the Amazon brand and only the expensive Weber stock brand
I bought all Weber grates from Amazon.
Yes, its good ! Cheers from Austria !
Thank you. Cheers from North West Indiana..!
Nice Video
Thank you..
Nice information👍👍👌👌 awesome video
Thank you and thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
Hey bbq Joe, just subscribed to your bbq channel. I’m doing my homework and research on the WSM and have seen few of your vids and damn, like the way you did the multiple add on grate mods. That was exactly why I’m looking into the WSM. Could you do a vid where you max out the cooking capacity by smoking out as many briskets as you can fit in your WSM with the bandit ring? Thanks and rock on. Your videos are very helpful and informative.
Sorry for the late response but I would say a max of 3 briskets on a hot summer day due to all the fat drippings and moister in the pit.. The whole briskets I get are pretty large and would have to remove some racks to make them fit.. But I'm very sure you can fill the racks with flats with no issues.. Thanks for joining us..!
That would be pretty slick to take camping
Oh yeah.. It was a head turner at the camp ground. Especially for the Weber lovers.. Thanks for watching.
Man, that is some amazing mods and additions you have! Great ideas
Thank you.. I love playing around and coming up with ideas to share..
With the door you replace. do any smoke leak out?
At first yea but very little.. After a few cooks there was absolutely no smoke leaking.
Your smart bbq dude
Thank you.
Joe, would u say it would be possible to put a hinge on the stacker ring so the lid could be opened with out tipping the ring over with it. In other words, would the lid be to heavy when it is opened for the stacker ring kit to stay in place.
I don't recommend it cause yes the lid is to heavy.. I have thought about installing clamps to secure the ring for a hinge mod. Thanks for stopping by.
Joe's BBQ House - The only clamps I can think of would be clamps that come w/ the Cajun Bandit wheel kit.
I would like two sections with the door, like on the WSM. Then you could open to check food.
This is freakin’ awesome dude!
Thank you for sharing these mad MacGuyver mods!
Amazing!
You're welcome.. I love modifying grills. You get the max out of them. Thanks for watching..
What low profile items would you place into the multi-tiered section of your grates?
They’re placed together so narrowly, it seems challenging to insert chicken wings & other low profile items between each narrow layer.
It's all adjustable but I usually cook spatchcock chicken, chix legs, pork candy bite and cold smoke cheese. It's not to bad reaching in with tongs to rotate.
Your modification to the weber smokey mountain, convert to a pit barrel smoker is fucking amazing. I wish you where my neighbor.
lol.. Yeah can't wait to test the barrel mod out. Hopefully this weekend. Thank for stopping by.
Awesome joe. Get tons of hooks. And beef jerky time
Thank you.. I can't wait to do snack sticks brotha..The hook I ordered on Amazon are frickin huge. 9" long which will be fine for spatchcock chicken. I need to order smaller ones though. Thanks for watching.
I'm beginning to think there is more fun making modifications to my wsm than actually cooking,
I have a lot of fun modifying my wsm.. The possibilities are endless lol..
Will the weber 22 in kid fit on a Weber 22 in grill
No the Weber wsm lid will not fit the Weber kettle.. It's a different design.
@@BBQJOE thanks man never geard any one talk about was hopping i could get some more foom the smoking jerky
Hey man that stuff all looks great. I filed it away casually without committing to memory yet because I don't have any of the equipment pictured I don't yet own. I'm sure I will at some point. Next on my list is a 22 inch Blackstone. But I enjoyed the video nonetheless. Mods all looked great. Nice job.
Thank you.. You can't go wrong with the Blackstone.. I have the 36" and love it for searing meats after they come of indirect from the kettle.
so do u have a website to make the wsm taller ?
Go to Cajun Bandit website.. You can get all the part there.
Joe all the innovations are great. I'm curios why one would make the hanging rack when you could get gateway hanging rack and it would be inside of lid. I like the wsm midsection on kettle if you shortened legs you could have wsm easy clean out model. What made you come up with that many stacks, you almost need an army to accomadate the output of that cooker with that capacity.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you John.. When I started with the top dual rack mod for the wsm before my UA-cam channel, I started brain storming from there. I cook for a lot of people at times and needed to find a way to make that happen. The hanging system mod cost me as much to buy a Gateway hanging rack but I'll be able to hang more meat at one time using 3 rods. And I thought it was a cool idea to mod the Cajun Bandit rotisserie ring to hang meat plus still be able to use it on the Weber kettle. I've use the mid section on the kettle a few time and works really well but I use the Smokey Cajun Bandit more due to it's lower profile. Thank for watching and appreciate the support.
Good video Joe so well explained.
Thank you.. It was a lot of fun putting all this together. Thanks
Great video! Thanks for sharing 👍
You're welcome and thanks for watching..
You gotta put handles on the side of the WSM makes it easier to lift off 👍🏻
Yeah I know.. I've been saying that for 5 years years lol.. I'll get to it real soon. Thanks for stopping by..
Awesome walk through! Thanks brother
You're welcome and thanks for stopping by
those hinges on the lid are going to eventually put too much stress on the components they're attached to and they will become deformed. Just because someone made those hinges doesn't mean it's a brilliant idea to attach them onto a Weber grill. When it comes to grilling and smoking it's more about the outcome of the food being prepared, not the gadgets.
I agree with you but it's definitely a nice option for the wsm 22.. I have the hinge option for the kettle but never installed it. I also never heard of anybody having issues with the hinge on there Weber kettle or wsm with warping. I'll have to do my homework on that. Thanks for watching.
The mods look great, I just need the cash to buy a WSM first, lol........... I like the barrel mod also.
Thank you.. I'm going to season the rods in my mobile smoker and run a test and see how the new barrel mod works.. Thanks for watching
you basically recreated the weber premium mastertouch they are selling in Europe with the hinge, smoke ring and a defuser lol.
Sweet.. Had now idea lol.. It has dual racks and a 1/4" steel plate defuser..? I doubt it but all is good. Thanks for watching..
@@BBQJOE no no, It has the hinge, the smoke ring and a steel plate defuser, not sure about the thickness but it's heavy. it also has their best grate, a heavy stainless steel one that NEVER rusts.. the smoke ring+ defuser setup I never used actually, I need to try!.. see the review here, it's in Italian but there are photos. sweet. maybe they stole your idea :P www.passionebbq.it/weber-master-touch-premium-5770-gbs-recensione/
I've always though that the distance between the coals, the defuser and the grate was way too small and I was always scared it would burn my food, AND there is no easy way to add wood or charcoal . they basically created a budget WSM .. like, want a kettle but also a better way to smoke? here's a kettle premium
Wow that thing is actually pretty nice.. I wonder if they'll release this model to the states.. Thanks for the info..
@@BBQJOE could be, but given the WSM popularity maybe they don't want to cannibalize the sales. do you think the plate diffuser right on top of the coals and the vicinity of the cooking grate could be a problem? if I put a water pan right on top of the defuser will it evaporate quickly? don't want to burn my next meal :D the only nice thing abut this setup is the real estate you gain by having basically the whole grate for indirect
You can fit a water pan on top of the diffuser but it's really not necessary.. The meat alone will provide plenty of moisture for you. I love this setup..
Hi really cool. Wow
Thank you and thanks for stopping by..
I've seen added vents by the charcoal also (bottom), which is more effective or use case for each? Thanks in advance for sharing all the BBQ iq.
One other question, are the hinges the same with the exception of the spread? Same weight capacity (Smoker vs Kettle version)?
Adding vents to the bottom would help but haven't tried it cause the extra vent up top works perfect for me. Also yes the hinges are different. One is wider than the other.. Thanks..
hey Joe is the top rack on the 22.5 kettle a 22.5 cook grate or a 18.5 cook grate? well done tho
Thank you John.. Both racks on the 22.5 kettle are both the same size.. Thanks for watching..
@@BBQJOE thanks bro was wondering bout clearance with the lid will be doing this
@@red12dirt The lid clears fine with no issues. Just don't adjust the nuts all the way to the top.
Earned a subscriber! I love to,tinker myself.
Thank you and welcome to Joe's BBQ House.. I'll get more videos out on these Weber mods soon. Thanks for watching.
I think should have it for home;;; :):):):) great job.
Thank you and Thanks for the support
Great mods! You might have said it but what size is that fire ring in your kettle?
I believe there 17" round but I'll double check and will get back to you after work. Thanks for watching..
I really appreciate it. Gotta try they out. Take care.
@@CBL138 It's 17 1/4" round by 5" tall.. My defuser plate is 19".. Hope that helps..

Thank you cuz.. I appreciate the support..
Is this guy going to cook on it or send it into orbit?
I kept waiting for the stack of racks to vanish over the side of the deck. That would happen to me just cause.
