Hi! Late to the party, and no one asked me but i have knowledge to share. I'm a Scenic Painter- I work in theatre and often re-create textures like marble. I thought that both of your renderings were successful-they looked like marble enough that if I saw them and didn't know, I'd just assume they were natural marble. But there might be a simpler way of achieving those results. Resin seems to me a lot like wet on wet painting, which is my preferred method for creating marble. Instead of trying to guide the veins of dark color with a tool you could fling it-a linear spatter- and then tilt the surface (mold, I guess?) at the same angle of the lines to let those shapes run and soften. Linear fling/spatter helps avoids the instinct to too-dramatically curve the veins which tend to appear in natural marble more like striations. It might also be wise to bring the colors closer together (perhaps grey instead of black) so that you're not fighting contrast issues when too much of one color is present. Its all potentially messy and im not familiar with the viscosity of resin so I might be completely off base here. Most scenic marble techniques involve layering- a splotchy-soft/cloudy (rounded/non-linear shapes) base of the colors, and then the veins on top of that; if the contrast of the veins is too high, you can always glaze with a diluted mix of the most dominate base color. I've never worked in resin before, but I thought it warranted mentioning if anyone out there is trying to do marble re-creation
Katelyn: "Weeeoowwhhh." Me: O that reminds me of SimplyNailogical. Don't think they know about her though. Katelyn, later: "Dab, dab, dab, make your marble fab." Me: THEY KNOOOWWWWWWW.

I’ve watched many makers attempts marvel effects with resin, and you might want to peek at some of stone coat countertops tutorials. They use alcohol inks in interesting ways. They put some on a stick and swipe it through for those striations in natural stone. They also add alcohol ink to alcohol in a spray bottle and spritz it on. I’ve also seen them split a tiny bit of spray paint onto the surface, then spray that with alcohol. They have some interesting strategies you might want to try. I adore your work!
Guys! These pieces look great! I really watch on it and see marble. I draw and sometimes i see just mistakes others do not see - I call it "the curse of the artist" (others call it "urged to perfection"). It's like starting to draw, keep the first drawing, and some little years later you draw the same picture and when you watch on your first draw you just say "my first drawing is soooo awful".
