Don’t point mirrors at one another to avoid the funhouse look, and also to prevent portals for ghosts and demons to travel through. Ghosts and demons are fairly dated, they’ll bring the ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ signs with them.

There's also loads of examples in the pictures that Nick uses of maximizing use of vertical space. It's really wasted in most homes, but you can see some shirts hung all the way to the ceiling in one of those pictures! That might not be practical for everybody but getting your stuff off the ground and into some vertical spaces really helps to take away clutter.

Great advice! Not having enough space to move around is a huge mistake. I haven’t noticed this as much in houses as in stores. If you have a small store - that’s great. Nothing wrong with that. Embrace it instead of overcompensating with a bunch of stuff. It feels cluttered and repels more people than it attracts.

Something I love to do is to get clear furniture or furniture with legs. Boxy furniture really closes off a space and legs and being able to see though items makes it so much more breathable

My small space dilema is that it’s open concept with vaulted ceilings. The kitchen, dining room, living room, and entry are spread out enough to warrant their own lighting, but close enough that they seem to compete (especially since they’re all pendant style because of the high ceiling).

Enough simple closed storage is the main trick. We lived in a bigger apartment before the one we have now, but the storage was... very random. Now we have ca 10sqm less with the same amount of things, but a proper storage where everything fits and it's great. I also don't have problem with cleaning and organizing things anymore, just because it can be done.
Everything else can be then individualized to your liking, you can have a small maximalist interior, when you deliberately put things out, but not when you are just desperately renaming clutter that has no better space to be.

Agree. Small spaces really need pieces that provide storage. Vertical storage like slender closed cabinets below and open shelving above in either furniture or built ins provide place to put things away in dust collecting lower area and display space at eye level. Ottoman with storage, or coffee table with storage can be helpful if not too big. I don't like open closets in general though as shown, feels so cluttered.

The mirror idea is wonderful!!! Make sure it’s not a lot of small mirrors bcs it won’t have the same effect. It will look more like a gallery wall and possibly cause a cluttered look. Also, making sure the place is t cluttered often. The mirror effect can cause a double cluttered look. Learned from experience 😁

    Store things EVERYWHERE!
Any spot can be discreet storage, and you reduce furniture.
I store the dog's extra blankets under the dog's bed (instead of in the closet).
Things inside the decorative pieces (instead of in drawers).

Also limit the number of colors used in a small space one basic color with different tones and one accent color works well. Also, if your small space doesn't have enough natural daylight, a slightly intense wall color can brighten the space better than white will. White and tiny can just look antiseptic/institutional when there's not enough natural light.

🤔 when the front legs are on the rug, I better put some coasters under the back legs to keep it even- correct?
It's probably a no-brainer but I'm dealing with uneven floors as is, anyway... 🤷

Larger furniture pieces are usually better in smaller spaces than smaller ones. Too many small pieces rather than a few carefully chosen larger pieces will make the space look cluttered and cheaper. Try to strike a balance with sizes and curate your pieces thoughtfully.
