My theory is that Kitsch was created to be polarizing, they knew people would be caught off guard by the chorus but it seems like in worked perfectly in the long run because Korea is absolutely OBSESSED with it, the song has achieved 121 PAKs and is currently blocking I AM on the charts. It’s kinda crazy. So I think they knew Kitsch was gonna create buzz ( for multiple reasons such as the switch up and Liz getting 6 seconds of singing, which again, imo is a marketing scheme to get us freaked out and tune it for the comeback to see her get the most lines ). As for I AM, I feel like this is the most generally liked title track IVE has ever released and that says A LOT because their title tracks are always generally loved. But the amount of people that see it as even better than LOVE DIVE is crazy, including myself and LOVE DIVE is one of my favorite songs ever. I also see a lot of non IVE fans love it, even the haters have a hard time hating on it. LMAO the album is also amazing, everybody seems to like it a lot, I’m so happy for the girls, this is how you do your first album.
This song is a spoof on models and modeling, conceipt. Plans use runways and so do models. Note the firls walking a runway like models. Then you got limos, camera flashes. They were danxing on an airplan wing. DIDDYBOPER ♥️💝💖💕😇😘🙏
I agree with you whole-heartedly tbh. I love IVE but personally wasn't as big with their B-sides up to now. But their first full length album was really solid this time around!! It's definitely a contender imo for Album of The Year already. For me actually Kitsch is a notch higher for me than I AM. Hahah. I AM is an amazingly beautiful and empowering song, but Kitsch is just such a fun listen and the verses are just so chill and sweet ahhh. All the IVE members are amazing tbh they have such a balanced lineup that's what I thought since Eleven! But Rei was a huge standout this time to me too; I think she must have caught a lot of people's attention especially in Kitsch! Though I'm Wonyoung biased, I really was so in awe of them because for real every single one of them slayed in both I AM and Kitsch~!
My favorite from the album for bsides are Hypnosis and Shine With Me loved I Am wasn't a fan of KITSCH but I understand that the want to try a different genre
