  • Hey guys! This took a while because I have done a TON of trial and error between damage over time vs. crit damage vs. how many hydra heads and have spent an absurd amount of gold to get this DIALED in for you guys.

Hey, great build and thanks for a very detailed explanation. I run a very similar one which I use specifically for PvP. A couple of questions and comments:
    1) How do you get a third (cold) stack for your Tal's? For me this is a challenge if you want to have Deep Freeze and both fire and ice shields on your action bar. For this reason, I use a legendary ring (in addition to Starless) instead of Tal's
    2) Your thoughts on Staff vs Wand/Focus? I'm using a staff
    3) Your thoughts on Glass Cannon vs Devouring Blaze on amulet?
    4) To combat Thorn barbs (and for improved survivability overall), have you considered a legendary chest a with maxed out Flame Shield duration temper? I run that temper everywhere I can, and while I take a small hit in the dps department, my flame shield lasts for over 6 seconds, which is typically enough to kill any thorn barb.
    5) Have you considered putting Storm Swell on the amulet? It's currently bugged and outputs a lot more damage than Shredding Blades imo.
    6) Critical Strike damage is effectively capped at ~200% in pvp, so stacking over that amount is a waste, imo

      1. Eventually I deep freeze and keep it going. 2. Wand and focus superior, I commented on it. 3. DV because Im at 82% Crit strike on this build. better to multiply crit than base damage. 4. Thorns barb are always a problem, and yes I do like the idea of legendary chest piece with FS and maybe more point to FS to combat thorns barbs, Nice. As of now I only use that temper on my pants. 5. I didn't know storm swell was bugged! good to know! 6. I just looked into that, I didn't know it was capped at that, Will do some more research on that. If so, I may be able to squeeze even more damage, which would be wild because I'm smoking people in split seconds as it is.

Can you provide a blizzard source for this claim that critical strike damage is capped in PVP? I can't find anything.

@@HawkTuahD4 Per Lurkin (and many others):
      Storm Swell Bugs:
Dealing 1.3x damage as intended on vulnerable enemies with a barrier
Dealing another 1.3x damage when you have an active ice armor
Dealing another 1.3x damage when you have an active ice armor AND the enemy is frozen
Damage is increased to 1.6x per when slotted on a staff

@@roman541 Yea I can't find anything official from blizzard that confirms crit damage cap at 200% and just talked to a bunch of pvper's that are very good tournament players. None can confirm either. If there isn't an official source, it's just hearsay from content creators.

@@HawkTuahD4 There is no "official" cap - it's a soft cap that was uncovered based on empirical evidence and testing, where stacking over ~200% crit damage in PvP did not result in any meaningful increase in damage output. There are many youtube videos from some prominent PvP players (like LordxSaura) and discussions on dedicated Reddit and Blizzard forums. This cap does not exist in PvE, therefore it can't be tested on test dummy.
