No stupid airshow announcing just the music of the Merlin what a treat
Awesome sound indeed, plus great videography.
Thanks a lot!
Almost 80 years old and still one of the sexiest aircraft in the sky! 😍
Just a sleek beautiful machine to look at and such a sweet sounding engine!
OOOOOHHHH That PACKARD MERLIN !!!!!
What a beast! Couldn't imagine and have no words! My God what a Beauty!
What a beautiful fighter
Paddy's the dealer, we're the junkies. Knows exactly what we need. Large cylinder engines in WWII aircraft(every nationality) running hard.😘👍
Well, that's nice
Could you imagine being an enemy combatant on a convoy and out of nowhere you hear that roar screaming towards you…holy hell
Top vid!
Nice Sound!
Listen to that PACKARD MERLIN sing its song of....... F R E E D O M.............
*the Propeller on the P-51 Merlin Mustang weighs 450 lb*
I love that haunting howl that Mustangs make in a dive. Sends shivers down the spine!
My vote for the best P-51 video on UA-cam. Perfect conditions and outstanding videography.
NOTHING ....beats the sound of a P-51 !
That PACKARD MERLIN does sing its song !!!!!!
The whislting sound blew my mind made my eyes tear a bit !! But my fav IS bf109 sorry fellas 😅
The spitfire....easy
@@wilburfinnigan2142 Not only did Packard Build Higher Quality Merlins
Packard was able to Build them 3x faster than Rolls-Royce. Using their Mass-Production Techniques.
Spitfire, mosquito, Lancaster.......
Great engineering is great art. A masterpiece!
Amazing sound and video!
Thanks Jesper!
One of best sounding Merlins I have ever heard!
Packard V-1650 Merlin.
Those PACKARD V1650-7 Merlin.....Made in AMERICA !!!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142still a English engine not American
The video quality is great. Almost life like. Music to my ears from the Rolls Royce Merlin. Thanks for the share.
btrdangerdan WRONG !!!! NO RR made Merlin engine was used in any production Merlin Mustang !!! All were powered by the Made in AMERICA PACKARD version Merlin !!!
@@wilburfinnigan2142 ummm ok Sorry 😐
God I love warbird porrn. Even the music is arousing. ;-) Thank you!

warthunder pilots right after takeoff going slightly to the side to climb
What a GORGEOUS aircraft. It is my favorite warbird of all time. I would have given several years of my life to have been able to fly one. I use to fly with my Dad before he passed away, but had to stop when vertigo hit me at 50. 😢
There is no other sound like it !! No where so if you see one out get at the airport you better get your video camera out
The sound of that merlin is orgasmic! Man will never make such a fine machine again
And ALL PACKARD Merlins were Made in AMERICA !!!
You got to keep your. Speed up to do a nice wheel landing in the Mustang because doing a three point isn't a great way to a grueling ground loop
👍
Awesome video aside, is Klaus Plasa any relation to Georg Plasa?
Aviation Porn! lol. Music to the ears!! Cheers!
Finally no stupid music, just Merlin music.
Guess you will like my channel then.

Amazing sound at amazing airplane Mustang P51.
I love all the old warbirds, but this is my favorite. It was the best at what it was designed to do.
hmm the design was very bad both usa and uk did not know what to do with it. uk used them for recon usa did not want them. until its resurrection with the 2 stage super charger merlin. no 1 knew how it would perform with the merlin. it turn out to be a match made in heaven it also changed the shape of the plane as we know the p51D today
@@topbanana4013 Brits knew how to use them !!! Even with the Allison it was a fighter to be recconed with, faster than a $hitfire and a Hurrycane, Stupid people do NOT compare it to the fighter of the day they have to compare it to LATER 60series 2 stage merlins that did NOT exist until late 1942 early 1943, first fighterthe MkI Mustang shot down was a bf109 !!!
The engine is music to my ears along with the beauty of the plane. I also love the howling noise when the plane is diving. I too like the polished metal instead of painted silver.
These planes of the WW2 era are the most beautiful birds of the sky !!👍👍👍❤❤
Beautiful bird
God I love these planes. Absolutely beautiful hotrod of the skys.
I wonder how fast it would be if the engine was replaced with a modern engine. Just a thought.
What "Modern" engine would you use ???? That engine has all the modern features of a Modern racing engine. all aluminum construction dual overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, throttle body injection dual stage supercharger, only the ignition might be replaced. and roller rocker arms added like the Allison already had and a larger oil pump. Nothing new that size exist today !!! DUUUUUHHH !!!!

great vid, real nice camera work too
A beautiful and iconic aircraft.
All it needs is fuel and no money is spared
I wonder why the tf51 has such a large canopy compared to p51s
Headroom for the copilot
I noticed that the lettering near the national insignia is AF on the left side and FA on the right side of the aircraft. Why?
If you take the letter at the vertical fin into account, then it reads both sides AFA for Air Fighter Academy. 😉
Very unusual to see a low energy flaps down flyby. Having read of the importance of energy management, does this place the pilot in a poor position in the event of loss of available power?
He was bleeding off energy. This was his last flyover before landing.
Ok got it. I'm just used to seeing landing configuration on the downwind leg, deadside. Thanks for the great videos, Paddy.
I do wonder sometimes, what with the advent of the drone, and the fact that Jet fighters are too fast to reduce speed enough to intercept them, wether they may be a new niche nowadays for a piston engined fighter to make a comeback?
Jet fighters can go slow too. Don't think that would be a problem. There are Single engined Groundattack aircraft with turboprops. About the size of ww2 warbirds. For example the Super Tocano.
The allies used 150 octanes where as the axis used 87. They want to keep you ignorant
Nice stuff.
👍
Lovely!
what's better? flying one or looking at one fly? Im torn.
Imagine flying one next to another one 🙃
@@PaddyPatrone yep that's it right there
Or flying a rc model, then you do both at the same time 😁
D-day celebrarion 6 June
Don't understand why the sound of those engines send chills up your back. It's definitely magical. Maybe that's why they named it Merlin!
Rolls Royce named their piston engines after birds, not wizards.
@@Juno58 thanks for the clarification.
Whistle of Defeat is behind you buddy!!! You done
Cadillac of the sky
I was thinking more like hot rod of the sky
garylangston PACKARD of the sky !!!
