I’ve been buying lots of books online since they cost more in my area and are not always in the best shape. I now have hundreds and hundreds of books to read. Some books are worth buying for the stepbacks and covers though!

I love all of the artwork! That step back is incredible! Don’t feel bad...I have been going on eBay and marking all of the vintage books that you have shown, to ensure that I get the ones with the gorgeous step backs! To me, it is worth the money! I have started my own collection! Love it! (I am with you that this woman’s red hair and lips are amazing! Her red skirt too…apple’y perfection!!!

I felt cheated. Not sure how to ensure that I am buying a book with a step back, but that is really what I want, as the beautiful artwork is just as important to me as the story in the book.

There's a pick-your-own apple farm near where I live. A local author wrote a fictionalized account about five generations of the family that runs it: Thy Children's Children by Diana Ross McCain. While there aren't extensive descriptions of couples making out in the apple orchard, there were a fair number of children per generation, so one assumes it must've happened at some point. (It's a pretty good book, very snappy especially for its length and also very closed-door.)
